I wonder how much time they mean by future. Because right now if they don't have strong sales these won't be any future.

Nokia demoed this tech at the last year nokia world , way before liquipel and HzO but yet it is not implemented on any of their product. Maybe becoz they said they not only want to apply this coating to inside components but they also lukin for ways to apply this coatin to outside body to make it scratch , fingerprint & dirt resistant , without making the coating too thick.

kick away stephen elop with wp from nokia, adopt android and make symbain alive, only then nokia future is bright.
14. haseebzahid (Posts: 1853; Member since: 22 Feb 2012)
why not have a new OS as another option for those who dont like android/symbian/IOS because they all seems familiars 70% same interface except internals so WP is something 100% different

What are you man? Don't you ever quit? I'm not found of Elop either but hey lets not s**t on Nokia while they're trying to recover. Just because you like Android doesn't mean Nokia has too. There is also NO guarantee that adopting Android will produce a better outcome. And I don't think it will. Why? Nokia won't have the financial backing for R&D to produce a unique Android skin to differentiate. Plus the Android battle field is fierce. Look at LG and Sony. They're not doing spectacular. Nokia also has to contend with the rising stars; huawei, Lenovo, zte, and a bunch of others. Symbian, don't even go there. It died when the first iphone debuted. Get that through your thick skull.

"it won't be surprising if Nokia starts to waterproof all of its future Lumia Windows Phone devices, that Apple and Samsung commence the same"
Although I'm a fan of Nokia, especially N8, and now 808, I'll say this is one of the stupidest decision by the team. No, not waterproof nanocoating, but ANNOUNCING IT BEFORE SELLING THE SYMBIAN FLAGSHIP. Cuz most of the people have start hating Symbian. They are already waiting for Lumia PureView device, and now more gonna wait. This announcement wil really affect the sales of PureView.
Sorry to say but Elop is "The worst CEO for the company ever".
Nokia + Android = Non-droid..
Nokia doesn't need to create any Android phone..
Maemo was good. Meego is better. Elop dropped it just because of financial constraints, and someone who knew how powerful it was, adopted it calling tizen.
Symbian + Meego were best option for Nokia.
Elop proved a CFO can't replace a CEO.
I don't know if there is anyone else, but I am sad for Symbian.
Get Well Soon Elop..!!

Don't MOTO RAZRs already have something to this effect?

These waterproof phones are the craze in Japan, but no one outside that country cares about waterproof phones. It is pretty much a gimmick or a once in a blue moon useful feature but otherwise Nokia is just scrounging together BS to add to their phones instead of doing anything innovative or even trying to compete with Samsung and Apple. Every time they make a press release, show another pointless glitz and glam ad, release another subpar phone tied to their legacy design or software, or talk about mythical phones that they will never release and lack the talent to do so, the company is just going to reinforce their own credit score in the market, which is JUNK. A company that's so out of touch it keeps on patting itself on the back publicly and boasting of how great it thinks of itself. It seems Nokia has a good bedfellow too with the likes of Microsoft, who also likes to conjure excrement out of thin air and make war using petty attacks instead of real products.

PureView proves u to be completely wrong. Also many other technologies which Nokia experimented with (and used) long before other manufacturers, like USB on-the-go, FM transmitter, buttonless UI, etc. After all, it's Nokia who basicly invented smartphones and brought them to market.
I know many people who would love waterproof phones, especially those who are doing some outdoor sports. Not to mention people whose smartphones died while on their summer holidays on the beach (because of high humidity and water condensation). However, i can understand your reasons to downplay waterproof technology. Any other Nokia hater would act exactly like that.
