My goodness! This is fantastic!!!
You can also create your own pictures and make it mono, red, green or blue + some effects!
What this does is, it takes an image and makes it AMOLED friendly (more blacks so that the LEDs in those areas areas switched off to save power) at also averages the colors to get a uniform color.

It was actually available on AMOLED symbyian devices like the 808 Pureview.

Things like these make Nokia really standout. I reaaally do wish they don't get bought by that Microsoft.

For those who can't get it, try installing 'SysApp Pusher' from the marketplace and then installing it from there.

I take it that you didn't get what i'm saying.
This is something that non-AMOLED screens can NOT produce. The effect is simply stunning when you see it in the dark

Here are some examples:

All these are Nokia AMOLED phones running Symbian, like the 808 and the N8.

The Windows Phone 8 implementation is nowhere near, as advanced as the Symbian version, though.

alterecho, I remember this! It was called Nokia Sleeping Screen if I remember correctly. I used to have it on my C7 and it was so cool, especially at night!

If anyone hasn't noticed already, Nokia didn't implement the glance screen correctly at all. I've had 2 Lumia 1020's and both glance screens appeared exactly the same. Neither of them were completely black.

In a dark room, side by side with the N8 and 808 it is perfectly clear there is either some backlighting on the 1020 or something else is going on because the 808/N8 have completely blacked out screens except for the clocks, and the 1020 screen is clearly lit.

Remember, Nokia said that the 1020 was an AMOLED display...

Works fine on my 925. Double check the enhanced display settings, might need to fine-tune the brightness or contrast.
