I remember having great nokia phones in the early days. They were great phones during the time when phones did not really do much.

I love Nokia for its simplicity. Symbian is enough for me. I don't go for fancy UIs, I go for usability. I don't care about the sea of apps since I barely use them (only essential ones).

I simply love the build of the phones they make.

no he wont, as C6 is running s60 v5, wont be compatable with 'anna', let alone 'belle'. Sollution: just go and buy nokia symbian^3 devices, regardless if it's 680mhz or 1ghz proc.

This is nice from Nokia and Symbian. The supposedly "burning platform" now acts by itself and slowly uses a fire extinguisher aiming at the fire. But way to go Nokia! Good thing you used that pull-down notifications which, by the way, was on Maemo too.

So what's next? Make Symbian ala swipe-centric MeeGo? I think it would be awesome!

And besides, Symbian is also way more battery-efficient than Android. Still, the apps on Android matter. But in real life, battery is way more important for a PHONE although I have always wished for the battery operation time of Android-based phones to last longer than they currently do.

Nokia N8 and Samsung Galaxy S user here!

why buy WP7 or IOS when you can have symbian belle ?
Belle is better than both of them, however bada 2.0. is better than all three of these ; )

actually, both Android and iOS copied from Symbian much more then vice-versa.

I still feel that it is a bad choice to give up the loads of investment put into developing Symbian and Meego; Windows Phone is good, but I see no market potential in it, given its late arrival and restrictions.

Yeah and because WP7 came late to the game it takes the best out of iOS and Android which makes it better.

Nokia is attempting to play catch up here and the update llooks very android like, that said they are better off as Android is the leading platform and Apple will attempt to sue the underwear off them if they tried to even look at os design, after all Apple invented used a grid icon ui in phones and all else copied including all manufacturers who used the grid system in button only traditional phones released 8 or 9 years ago

Dude, Nokia (and other manufacturers) had grid icon UI long before Apple started to produce phones. And btw, both iOS and Android copied much more from Symbian than vice-versa.

How is it that in a day where Apple can sue Samsung because they have a centralized "home button" Symbian isn't getting sued by Google for this obvious rip off of the Android os? Don't get be wrong, i think it looks great and hope it makes it to the market, but I definitely see this bringing a law suit.

I have an sony ericsson Vivaz(symbian s 60) with SPB shell 3.7 launcher on top and I can say that it trumps android gingerbread(I also have an Xperia Arc) in some little details of file management and messaging, and in the big part of theme support.
Now these new Nokias have all that and also, FINALLY, the smooth intuitive UI, which leaves basically no advantages to android.
Besides the market, of course.

Anyway, Nokia made it's biggest mistake ever in neglecting symbian and making a deal with microsoft, that basically left them standing on ice for the entire friggin year!

Symbian Belle is better than Android and iOS. Sales are on the increase with Nokia now. They are officially rebounding. Infact there rising again, and Belle is exciting the network providers. And these new Nokia handsets are Better than Iphone 4 & 5. Belle is lightening quick and with a 1ghz processor is way quicker than any phone on the market. Little do people realise that not only have these new handsets got a more powerful processor but also have a graphics accelerator that is very powerful. Also Belle is written in ultra lite c++ compared to these battery killing iOS and android that take up so much resources just to get it working. Apple's finished. And with a samsung Microsoft deal on royalties. Nokia are going to rise big time with Belle which has got such good reviews. Also microsoft is helping nokia bug time, and to offer another kind of OS to please a wider audience. Nokia has been resurrected. Nokia are set to release even more handsets including the lush n8-01 this has been highly favoured too... And how about the X10, - Nokia are upto something... Something good. Quad core 2ghz, 2gb ram 2gb rom, 15 mp camera carl zeiss. Dragontrail glass... There is so much more. With Belle it would be too quick and powerful. This would kill any phone on the market... Good job Nokia.
