Nokia patent for adjustable aperture could improve the camera on the next PureView device

0. phoneArena 01 May 2013, 23:03 posted on

Getting great pictures in daylight and in low-light from the same cellphone camera is hard to accomplish, but is something that Nokia might be getting ready to address after the company received a patent for a cellphone camera with an adjustable aperture, a technology that just might find itself on the oft-rumored Nokia Lumia EOS...

Finally my old N86 with variable aperture is back.

But the problem is :

YES! I love Nokia EOS!

NO! I will never buy a Nokia anymore because of this retarded WP8!

Even you said WP8 is retarded (and im a user), i thumbed you up. Frankly speaking, i dont miss Symbian at all after moving to WP8, with an android phone as my 2nd device. Performance and smoothness is leaps and bounds ahead. Maybe i wished there is a file manager but i can live without that.

As for the camera department i know Nokia always delivers, so i can wait. N86 is probably the only phone which had adjustable aperture on its camera, but sadly it uses LED flash instead.

coz using an android is almost similar to symbian!

i just love my 808 PuveView! i just ditch my android coz its just so slow! i only enjoy playing temple run on it!

I think there is a samsung (not an android phone) NIX something that also had a variable aperture

im still dreaming of that!

Too bad the only retard is the one who hasn't used WP8.
I'll never use iOS or go back to Android. There are a few apps and customizations I liked on Android but its buggy... I think now I'm down to 1 app that I don't have on wp8 that I had on Android.

I have the new iPad and the Nokia Lumia 920. The best combination of devices. The best tablet in market and the best durable cameraphone (a phone has to survive daily use in work) with a very intuitive OS.

Because they are extremely good at a niche area of photography...miniaturization with relatively hi performance.

Nobody buys a camera these days. Regular consumer buys a good quality cameraphone which is always in a pocket. Professionals are different story.

oh that's why Nokia 920 pics in low light are great and are not so good as competitor's. in normal conditions.
adjustable aperture will overcome this problem.
go Nokia show the world preview phase 3

No, that's not the reason, because competitors do NOT have adjstable aperture as well.

Except OEM:s like HTC are already busy thinking how they can steal Nokia innovation. "Lets copy tech and call it ultradjustable aperture!".

HTC - Silently stealing

Nokia will never use Android. How come Nokia use Android and Android paying for windows patent! plus the windows 8 phones it's more smother than any Android phones in the market including S4.

I dont have any problems with jilly bean on a GnoteII quadcore. Android shutters on low-spec smartphones

the problem with nokia is they stack with windows and even if they release one or two Android devices it will only be on one carrier at&t exculsives so its hard for them to sell more than the others.

I have 808, and i only use it to take photos..but my note2 is good enough in camera atlz in daylyt and macro shots so my 808 mostly on nytshft job hehe. ;)
I cant 4get abt android, it is my top choice, cant live a smartphone life w/o android haha

As I could see, 808's camera software is quick and good; if you use the device only for it's camera, you won't be bothered by browser speed or by the inability to install... don't know, Instagram or Temple Run.
A good comparison would be between 808 and Samsung [some name] camera.

The second bad choice you have made is choosing a tiny tablet - Note - instead of 7-10" one.

Everyone can live without Android; if one wants the best smartphone, one chooses iPhone; if one wants a very good and cheaper alternative, one chooses Windows.

See, no Android.

I dont like android tablets, coz not all apps are supported, i went t note2 because i love superamoled, spen and d features along, big display, exynos, good sound quality.. and i think it is d best device for now until n3 appears.
If ill have a tablet, i want iPad.

Best smartphone-iphone?? If someone wud give that to me for free, ill be selling it immediately and buy htc one/s4/sony honami/ NOTE3, the latter will be my top choice if sammy will live up to the hype that they said note3 will be "their most wanted samsung device"

But you are using Note which is a little Android... tablet.
I also love magenta color but I will never buy a magenta suit; amoled is a magenta suit: good for watching cartoons, bad for a mobile phone display.

We're talking about phones; One, S4, Note 3 are also tiny tablets.
