Nokia outlines 'more human' brand promise... and unknown Lumia peeks out?
0. phoneArena 07 May 2013, 10:03 posted on
Nokia has two events planned for the next two weeks, and they're doing a pretty good job at keeping the agendas under wraps. We can make some educated guesses, of course -- Ashas in India on the 9th, and Catwalk in the UK on the 14th -- but so far, no one seems to have any solid intelligence. We were, however, privy to a recently-published document (cover pictured above; no, we don't know what phone that is) that lays out some very broad strategies the company is taking, under an overarching brand promise they're referring to as "more human."...

is nokia saying, we can suggest what type of phone specs can be made possible in their new upcoming devices?

Honestly speaking, I'm tired of android...its just the same from 4.0 till 4.2 and most probably 4.3 will also be the same...all android manufacturers are bundling useless feature and most of them dont work most of the time(i mean samsung)....the application selection is awful when compared with iOS and android is damn to laggy
I just want a mind blowing camera, good design, an acceptable UI, large high res display, less lag and few more things which I believe nokia's next generation lumia will have
13. roldefol (Posts: 2860; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
Not to mention that each android manufacturer "must" use a bulky custom skin on top of a perfectly good stock UI...and that skin interferes with the ability to quickly update when a new Android version arrives. Yes there are advantages and disadvantages to both Android and WP8 but the disadvantages are definitely tipping me toward switching to Nokia.

the good thing about android is customisation and the features, customisation means every phone can suit different peoples taste and personality as not all android phones are the same (htc sense, motoblur, touch wiz) etc. Where as windows 8... your pretty much stuck on those live tiles and maybe add a few colours and wallpapers?
Features, sure some are gimmicky but there are many good android features that nokia (windows 8) dont have, like multiview, s-pen, hand/air gestures, photosphere and choices of rugged waterproof phones just to name a phew.
In short, android has enough phones to suit everybody's needs and wants.

I agree with your points except about the lag in android. Its practically gone now and imho on par with the competition.
26. boosook (Posts: 992; Member since: 19 Nov 2012)
then switch to WP... it's basically the same since the first version, the only major UI change has been the resizable tiles... android may be the same from version 4, but it still has far more features than WP. What's more, since version 4 many interseting things have been added, like google now, actions in the notification bar, lockscreen widgets... way ahead of WP8 actually. As to lagging... well, this happens only with entry level devices, but at least games do run even on entry level phones, while temple run requires a whopping 1GB of ram on WP, skype and angry birds do not run on 256MB phones... the reason why WP does not lag is because it had very high hardware requirements, but now that entry level WP phones have appeared... guess what? but an entry level WP, install some apps and you'll discover that it lags as well. Or that some apps don't run at all. Buy and android with JB and at least 1GB of ram and the lags are completely tolerable (altough android isn't, and probably will never be, optimized for lagging). Buy an entry level android and at least you'll be able to run anything (except, of course, complex games).

dude, what kind of android you using? my photon q lags slighty every now and then but thats because i have themes, emulators, and game apps downloaded onto it.
ios does not lag as much because their is less customization and things that its system has to push! with android you can pretty download and put anything on the ui, hence the lag every now and then. if its severe i suggest un-installing a few things or switching the animations OFF in the developers section of your settings, before complaining out loud.

nexus 4 = no lag :P
this poor soul thinks touchwiz or sense is the whole of android
38. roldefol (Posts: 2860; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
Look at the numbers though; Samsung and HTC are the big names in Android. Very few people get the stock experience. (And enough with the "just root it" argument. Custom ROM users are a slim minority.)
55. kozza3 (Posts: 574; Member since: 17 Oct 2012)
you are right, what i was trying to get at was that a lot of people who bash on android are usually thinking of a device thats running touchwiz or sense when in reality if that same device was running vanilla android all would be good
56. roldefol (Posts: 2860; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
Would be, but isn't. I know what HTC and Samsung are doing with Sense TouchWiz are user experience enhancements and ways to differentiate and stand out in a crowded market. That's fine and it's how Google intended it with their open OS. It's just not good for those who want simplicity and rapid updates to the latest and greatest. iOS, WP8 and Nexus (and hopefully the new Motorola) are the ways to go, and with CDMA carriers Nexus is out.

I will definatly buy that within next few months . Seriously samd@@g looks like a plastic toy and cheap stuff to me whatever and howmany cores they put , i will consider it a cheap chinese clone. Nokia was king and will again regain its crown, respect for the leader in innovation. No galaxsh@t can beat my n8,s sexy sturdy Manly body( sic ) Lmao. . Lets all hope nokia returns like a wild tornedo, anybdy cmes in its way is destroyed.. Nokia u simply rock.....ftw

WP UI is the same on all phones and for the past 2 years it hasn´t evolved much. I can understand that you are tired on android but if you got tired on android you will get tired on WP much faster. HTC ONE is kind of what you are describing.

If Nokia uses that kind of dark blue (as seen on HTC 8X, and it looks similar as well in this image) instead of cyan i would seriously consider getting that color. Lumia 920, i only liked red or white.
The yellow one looked a bit toy-like (it doesnt look as good in real person compared to promo images), while the red one is the opposite - doesnt look that good in promo images but darn beautiful for the actual unit itself. When i preordered one, they only had the yellow dummy model, and because i didnt like the yellow, i decided to play safe and got a white one, and now i wished i bought the red one. Doesnt matter to me anymore though. Just keep looking forward to future models.

I setup to post here, just because some don't seem to believe you. I just got rid of my Galaxy s III. It was my third Android phone, and fourth device (have a Nexus 7)
I also experienced signifigant lag on the device, even with all available updates. Even had to have the phone replaced ones. Android is still the herky jerky experience with touch it has always been. Is it much better than the days of 2.3 on my HTC Inspire? Absolutely. Is it still noticably more laggy than iOS? Sadly, yes.

According to the link you gave, it says "Did some searching and it appears to be an Asha 311.", but Ashas don't have front facing camera right?
Or maybe it is a new Asha. :)

- Ah that's good to hear, this sound interesting. I hope they really learn from Samsung.
64. tashreef (Posts: 476; Member since: 24 Nov 2012)
what's there to learn from samsung ... how to Cop* ? Nokia makes everything original..and then everyone copies it....if Nokia needs to learn anything from samsung I.e. how to do marketing of their products..that's what i think samsung is really good at... they advertise rex series feature phones as smartphones ...when Asha phones have same features may be better..but still they look more interesting and appealing ....
66. Bluesky02 (Posts: 1439; Member since: 05 Dec 2011)
Samsung can learn how to design beautiful phones from Nokia.
Nokia can learn how to provide true high end specs phones with different variety from Samsung like S4 & Note 2. Both can learn from each other.
