Nokia is planning to reinvent the ZOOM at its next big event
0. phoneArena 13 Jun 2013, 11:42 posted on
And just like that folks, the good people over at Nokia penned a date for its next big event – one where they intend to reinvent the ZOOM. We wonder, what else might they show or announce? Could it be none other than the next Windows Phone with an even more spectacular PureView...

Best in class audio recording, best in class navigation, brilliant and solid built quality and design, the best product support. Only area where Nokia is behind is apps and the useless spec race!
"Oh wow! Do Nokia devices have good cameras? I've never heard that..." Really? have you been living under a rock the last 10 years?
110. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
No, I was out buying a Note 2 which has all those things you've just mentioned. Nokia never talks about any of that. Why?
119. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
note 2 doesnt have best in class audio, best in class navigation, solid build quality and design
samsung supports its device so that you can have.
127. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
The best I've seen and heard, even better than Nokia devices. No one beats Google Maps, not even Nokia maps. Maybe in other countries, but where I need it, Google is the best.
131. applesauce (banned) (Posts: 165; Member since: 26 Aug 2012)
Yeah, google maps is outclassed in just about every way by Nokia/HERE Maps except StreetView. And Nokia/Microsoft just added another 270TB to their data banks, so use this link and add even more to it:http://conversations.nokia.com
That said, I think that the HERE rebranding was silly; keep it Nokia to build more brand awareness. It'd be like Sony renaming its television division PICTURE or something.
133. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
If that's true, cool. Why isn't Nokia showing that? How is anyone supposed to know there's something better out there if all they talk about is how good your pictures look at the night club, or random pictures of roller skaters chasing a bear? Last head to head I saw, Nokia lost to Google Maps, but I will check out a 3rd party head to head. I can't trust it if it comes from Nokia themselves.
150. jackhammeR (Posts: 1548; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
but you trust in everything what coms out from google, right? and you still believe you're independent and cool
151. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
No, I investigate first. I trust what I see only after I tested it myself as well. So I'll watch a video, then try it out and see if if my experience is the same.
The sad thing is how you automatically assumed everyone who uses Android trusts everything Google. You don't know me, so don't judge me.
152. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
really, sorry but the note 2 doesnt have btter audio, thats you just praising with no basis.
as for no one beats google maps, how about for once we be reasonable and not side to the saint google. both google maps and nokia maps are excellent both ahead of others and depending where you live both offer what is needed. you prefer google maps fair enough but doesnt mean its the best
and before you say you mean best for your area
''No one beats Google Maps''
thats how you worded it
153. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
You're always anti Google. You never want anyone to have anything good to say about Google whether its their email, search, or OS. I say my phone is better because it is to me. That's why I chose the Note 2 and not the 920, because I think it's the best. No amount of hate you post is going to change that. The only thing that will is a better product.
The audio on my phone is better.
The screen on my phone is better.
The navigation on my phone is better.
The camera on the 920 has better low light phone, but mine has sharper images.
Not everyone will see things your way, that's just how it is. Deal with it.
154. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
you seem to have missed this
'' both google maps and nokia maps are excellent both ahead of others and depending where you live both offer what is needed''
so where am i anti google when i have praised there maps?
please your been really defensive recently since you got put in your place with your high and mighty act and not wanting some make believe fight lol
as for the better comments, just because you have the phone doesnt mean you have to blindly think every part of it is better
example i have an 808, i dont automatically think its better for games just because i own it. the note 2 isnt better for audio, the screens good no one said otherwise. navigation well go back to my original comment
as for the sharper image comment, sorry but the note 2's camera was a real let down and nothing compared the gs3.
''Not everyone will see things your way, that's just how it is. Deal with it.''
take your own advice kid, your extremely defensive, are you going to warn me about another fight? lmao lighten up
155. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
There she is!!! LOL! That didn't take much at all now did it?
You said one nice thing about Google, sorry I missed that but with all the hate you spite, its hard to see an good coming from you. Anyway, here's your cookie, you deserve it girl.
I have yet to be put in my place, and it certainly would be done by the likes of you, so that part was really funny! And no, that wasn't me getting defensive, that was me explaining my point of view to you, but when your feeling are as hurt as I made them the last time we talked, I can understand why you would lash out, but it's okay.
Again, you saying it means squat to me. It worth less than the paper I wipe with, so all the huffing and puffing your doing right now means nothing.
Also, I just tried Here.com since it isn't available in the Play Store just yet, and sorry to break it to you girl, Google Maps is still better. Maybe when they get an app for Android I'm see what it is you like. But until then you just run along and play.
Oh yeah, if you really want to argue, let's do this on a new article where everyone can see. Don't wait until everyone is done commenting to challenge me. I promise you, you'll get the fight you've been wanting. LOL!
156. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
lmao haha your too funny, suddenly the wannabe hard man returns. you dont like how ive basically shown you to be one sided and in my comment i give a reasonable assessment that both google and nokia maps are excellent depending where your from as some are stronger in certain area's then others.
and then you go to full blown fanboy mode with
''Google Maps is still better''
truly pathetic, the rest of your comment comes from the mind of a 5 yr old. honestly ive seen better from TROLL which shows how low you have gone.
''Don't wait until everyone is done commenting to challenge me. I promise you, you'll get the fight you've been wanting. LOL!''
lmao so deluded. first people live in all area's of the world that comment on here so there are always people commenting. what you actually mean is wait until your fellow fanboys are on so you have back up. honestly people say i attack too much yet your here offering a fight that you never give.....face facts your all words. bark and no bite a child with a keyboard.
ive ''challenged'' you twice now and both times the inner child shows itself and you do nothing. again put in your place so next time back up your hollow words or stop bigging yourself up. basically bring it
157. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
yet here you are in an old article again that no one is reading. You only challenge me when you know that no one will see it. But you never come at me when you know that there's plenty of activity on the article, and I think that's for good reason. Because you know any given day you have nothing intelligent to offer to any of the conversations that we have. you find safety in old articles. But again I challenge you call me out in an article that everyone is reading so we can do this for real.
And as far as all bark and no bite, trust me you would never want to do this face to face because I would dog walk a little girl like you. So let's just keep it on the internet where you'll be physically safe, don't challenge me anything face to face because I will give you an address.
159. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
wow you think so highly of yourself, this article is still alive along with the other article at the time i made you look a child. you ran off crying with your childish comment of
''blah blah blah''
remember? you offered this fight, bigged yourself up saying you on a higher level of intellect and boom you come up with that lol pathetic kid
''trust me you would never want to do this face to face because I would dog walk a little girl like you''
if you now offering a face to face kid bring it, give me your address and man up because you internet hard men are too funny. so im calling you out if your round the billesley area come round and say all this bs face to face kid.
again all bark no bite, and now your trying to big yourself up again, first you try to make yourself saounf smart which failed as you had no response to me and now your trying to say your a tough guy lmao you really are funny.....im having a good laugh and so are some of the people ive been showing your childish comments too
got anything else?
160. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Just what I thought, still here in an old article. You must think I'm as stupid as you are, you don't get my address dummy. I'm in the Chicago, Il. Meet me at the United Center and I'll bring your leash girly. If that's too far, tough. I've already proven you are a female dog, so I wouldn't waste money coming to where you are, just for you to not show up. United Center or STFU you fake wannabe thug. I will have fun with you! Oh, I'm no tough guy, tough guys are all talk. I'm a man that means what he says. Please come to Chicago, I'll make sure you're airlifted out. Lol!
And if you want to get embarrassed online, we can do that too. I posted all yesterday, just waiting for you to talk crap. But I guess you were somewhere getting pimp slapped. Quit being so timid, let do this where people can see it, or are you still scare of little ole' me?
161. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Oh Noooo, we're not done yet little girl! Quit waiting a whole day later after I insult you before you come back at me. Stand up for yourself!
162. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Oh and thanks, if you think I make myself sound smart, you obviously think I am. That's why you keep trying so desperately to prove me wrong about everything I say. Which is truely sad, you don't want anyone to have their own opinions. That ain't how this works little girl! You have no weight around here, no one listens to you. All you do is go around picking fights, you have no idea how to conduct a healthy civil debate. But don't worry, you won't have to worry about that with me anymore. I'm going balls deep on you every time you mouth off at me. So please, pick up you phone, tablet, keyboard or whatever you use to talk crap and let's do this in front of EVERYONE! Next new iPhone article, new Windoes article. I'm make sure I'm one of the first few to comment, reply to me and say whatever you want, but please give me that classic stupidity you're known for now. I'm waiting for you lady!
163. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
ok as your still thinkinh your hard lets end this and put you in your place
first off you offered me the fight in real life knowing full well we lived miles away from each other, when someone offers this you would think they had checked and seen we were near but no your all mouth and knew it couldnt happen. the fact your acting hard and telling me to come to chicago shows your full of it. how about you come here big man if you are what you say.
second i dont live on here like you seem too, i have a life the fact you also think what article i make you look like the female dog you are on matters shows your looking for attention. no one else on here cares what we are saying why do you want an audience so bad? you prove over and over your nothing.
if you really want me to call you out on a new article so be it, i have a few mins to kill making an internet gangster look stupid
maybe i can teach you to fetch and speak, be a good boy and go play with the traffic.
chicago .....lmao you knew from the start so it was safe for you to act the big man. just a little twerp thinking his hard with a keyboard
164. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Oh no, she finally woke up! Now she's throwing more baby punches. I don't know how much more of this I can take... It tickles, lol!
Of couse I knew exactly where you lived right? Your the one acting big and bad, tough girl. Like I said, come at me on a new article, or have I made you pee your little panties? Yep, I can smell it from here. Lol!
165. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Let's go little girl! You asked for this remember? You had your chance on the Nokia phablet article, but what did you do??? You danced all around me. Why you scared now? Is it because you know you can't handle the verbal a$$ whopping you've been begging me for? Take you shot sister, or shut you mouth!
166. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
lmao your soo funny, you expect me to go straight off topic just to play with some twerpy keybord warrior like you, no i will wait until you do one of your obnoxious comments and then prove you wrong just like how this started and the time before that.
you really just want me to attch you and then you can act the victim and look innocent. funny how your the one acting the big man yet you dont have the stones to come at me first considering you want an audience. im happy smacking you round here but no you need others to watch
no one is scared of you kid, ive seen scarier puddles, come on big guy show me exactly what you can do as so far your nothing, we have been having a right laugh at your comments though so thanks
keyboard warrior cant do jack, pathetic
167. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Ahhhh, your such a little whinny girl! You wanted this argument, make the first move and quit your yapping, you coward.
168. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
pmsl are you on here 24/7

kid i won the argument ages ago you just cant accept it, you have nothing. hows it feel losing again? no seriously does it hurt you lol
you are well and truly pathetic, the only coward is you, face it ive won you never came close and you only want an audience so the android centric users can help you. if you coudlnt take me here you have no chance anywhere so hop along and go pretend to be hard
169. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
That's just how sad you are. You lost and I've been holding back so hard. I haven't even started ripping you yet, I still toying with you coward. That's good you think you've won though, so you should have no fear of taking this to a new article, right? Let's do it lady!
170. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Here's your chance coward! Show me what you got...
86. roldefol (Posts: 2855; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
Wait until Fall, I guess. See what they do when MS approves a new set of hardware. Of course, by then we'll be enjoying our S4s, Ones, and maybe even the Moto X. Given the hardware limitations though, at least Nokia isn't sitting on their laurels.
90. Penny (Posts: 951; Member since: 04 Feb 2011)
You wouldn't be leaving Android for Nokia, you would be leaving Android for WP8, and therein lies the real question.
As far as manufacturers go, it is hard to argue that Nokia isn't one of the best as it brings some of the most useful stuff to the table and is driving innovation in key areas: wireless charging built into two of the flagship models, screen improvements (visibility in bright light, responsiveness through clothing, higher refresh rate), video/audio quality (image stabilization, best in class mics), and of course the other camera improvements (OIS again, higher quality optics, higher quality flash, more manual control). Nokia also provides a lot of software advantages to its customers to sweeten the deal for Nokia buyers, such as free music streaming through Nokia music, wireless picture sharing through any browser on any computer, etc.
So, again, you're not willing to leave Android for WP8, but the story would be much different if you were talking about leaving Samsung or HTC hardware for Nokia hardware (irrespective of OS).
96. roldefol (Posts: 2855; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
And that's where I am. I like Nokia's hardware, but I'm an HTC-Sense-Android user. I'm used to the customization Android offers, so I would need to warm up to the limitations of the WP8 interface. I think I could get used to it though.
With each improvement Nokia makes in cameras (PureView), screens (ClearBlack sun-visible OLED), call quality (noise-cancelling mics), build quality, I consider them more seriously.
100. Penny (Posts: 951; Member since: 04 Feb 2011)
All I can say is that stick with what matters most to you. If you are a smartphone power-user, and Android currently satisfies your needs, then that is what you should stick with. If you are a more casual smartphone user, Nokia + WP8 will likely provide you with a higher quality phone experience. You don't want to make a decision to switch unless it is going to make your experience better in regard to the functions that are most important to you.
Basically, you will always be happiest choosing the path that requires the least amount of compromise for your usage.
111. Whateverman (Posts: 3156; Member since: 17 May 2009)
For me, it feels like Android vs Nokia though. I love, love, love Nokia hardware. I love, love, love Android. But i left the world of M$ many years ago and planned on never looking back. If Nokia is going to win the hearts and minds of people content with Android and iOS, they're gonna have to convience of the total package. It seems as thought Nokia only talks about the camera, and M$ only talks about Google.
Take Apple for instance. They don't so much sells you on the hardware as much as what they do the software. Every commercial highlights an iOS app and even third party apps. They aren't telling people about low light performance or how many gigs of ram. They just put it through its paces and then say something like , "Only on the iPhone" even though we know that's not true. Nokia is doing nothing close to that and that's why after 3 years they still only have 3% of the market. They could do a lot better if they just show everyone what the phone can do, that's all.
132. applesauce (banned) (Posts: 165; Member since: 26 Aug 2012)
True, but I would say that photos are pretty important to folk. Facebook, twitter, instagram, Pintrest, flickr, YouTubve, Vimeo, vine, etc etc etc ad nauseum are all about sharing photos/video, and those whose pictures are of poor quality (or who edit them to look like a weathered polaroid) lose status in their respective domains, so having the best they can afford that does everything they want is important. Just the amount of positive feedback and sheer "OMG!" that comes from customers and media alike after Nokia comes out with each new camera innovation starting with the N-series in the late 2000s keeps driving that home. The 808PV knocked the Lumia 900 out of the spotlight at MWC even though it was running Symbian. The Lumia 920 was THE device to get during last holiday season. Now folks are clamoring for the 925 and the "EOS".
TL:DR: The cameras are the bait that brings folks to trying the device, and the build quality, phone functionality, OS excellence, and legendary Nokia durability keeps them as owners.

"The cameras are the bait that brings folks to trying the device, and the build quality, phone functionality, OS excellence, and legendary Nokia durability keeps them as owners."...
If would for me if they would (Yeah, I gotta go there) make one with Android.

"Oh wow! Do Nokia devices have good cameras? I've never heard that..."...are you saying tha on purpose or make a mockery of everyone????

The next big brick that takes poor day time pictures and has dust that covers up the ffc? Where do I sign up? lol
87. sbw44 (Posts: 237; Member since: 04 Dec 2012)
What do you call the galaxy zooooooooooom then? brick? rock? boulder? This is something your precious samsung and android will never have!
99. Taters (Posts: 2104; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
A camera...it isn't confused like the Nokia bricks that don't know if they rather me mobile or rather have a nice camera.
125. jackhammeR (Posts: 1548; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
your comment is the perfect description of samsung galaxy camera and ssamsung zoom.
124. jackhammeR (Posts: 1548; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
go hang yourself....you're elated because of posting such nonsense?
88. Taters (Posts: 2104; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
Funny how the Nokia fan boys and Samsung haters are acting like beating the GS4 zoom is an accomplishment.
Can't come close to the GS4/GS4 Active so they take victory from beating a product that is more niche than the Galaxy Beam. What would be even more hilarious though is if the GS4 zoom actually outsells this Nokia phone and gets better reviews. Funny stuff.
92. roldefol (Posts: 2855; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
The GS4 Zoom could very well could outsell the EOS on name recognition, but I highly doubt it will get better reviews. It's an ergonomic nightmare! If the EOS gets carrier support and good marketing, it'll take off.
93. Penny (Posts: 951; Member since: 04 Feb 2011)
Wouldn't be surprised considering how much influence the media has on its subjects. A blog site like this gives a bad review, and most readers will take their word for it.
Either way though, I don't see the GS4 Zoom doing that well. Due to its size and clear emphasis on being a camera more than a phone, it will appeal to a very niche segment. The EOS is almost certainly going to be better received as a phone and would therefore appeal to a wider audience. Time will tell though; Samsung does have a lot of momentum right now.
140. Shatter (Posts: 1747; Member since: 29 May 2013)
I'm going to laugh if the zoom takes better pictures, Nokias stupid enough to use windows so anything is possible.

alot of comments in here, why not here is one company that is innovating fast.waiting for Elvis EOS.
