Nokia hasn´t confirmed they´re ditching Symbian for Maemo yet

Yesterday we reported that at an event held in London, officials of Maemo´s marketing department had stated Nokia would replace Symbian with Maemo on high-end N-Series handsets by 2012. Later, however, the manufacturer stated they were not in the habit of disclosing their plans for the future, that Nokia remained deeply devoted to Symbian and qualified the initial information as jumping the gun. The official position of the manufacturer is that Maemo aims to deliver the rich, overall experience that personal computers do and of course, expand Nokia´s product portfolio. Is it likely that we don´t see a Maemo-based smartphone with Nokia´s logo on it in the near future?

If Maemo is to be the next platform for Nseries devices, it needs to gain all the things S60 has, that Maemo is missing.
