Nokia gives you 10 reasons to want the Nokia Lumia 1020

0. phoneArena 13 Jul 2013, 11:59 posted on

The Nokia Lumia 1020 took the majority of our attention this past week; and while our loyal readers probably don't need any encouragement to lust in their hearts for the handset the same way that Jimmy Carter told Playboy in 1976 that he lusts after...uh...let's just say peanuts, Nokia has posted a top ten list of reasons to want the device...

This is a discussion for a news. To read the whole news, click here

Do you remember that movie "Mean Girls" where the one girl says to the other "Stop trying to make fetch happen, it's not going to happen"?

Well, stop trying to make phamera happen, it's not going to happen.

You've been saying that word for over a month now on this site and it's not catching on.

Dr.Phil, I'm not the one who started the word 'Phamera', it was somebody in here started this (I don't remember who it is).

Let's just say 'Phablet', when peoples first heard the word 'Phablet' they laughed, but now it's in, like the 'Phamera' will be "in" in a few years.

Phablet became a word because when Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note they just had the two words up on the screen: phone. tablet. Writers immediately combined the two words into the word "phablet". It's something that is easy to remember and with just one look you can tell what the word is about: the combination of a phone and a tablet.

The word phamera, however, is not that catchy. Also, what is the word about? When I look at the word, I have to question whether they mean a phablet with a camera or a phone with a camera? I am automatically assuming you mean a phablet with a camera, which the Lumia 1020 is not a phablet.

Oh, and not to mention the biggest reason why we shouldn't even be making up a word for this is because the word "cameraphone" has already existed for years now.

Dude, Phone+Camera=Phamera......a phone with a camera ....Why not?...why r u assuming tablet....?...Phone+ tablet=Phablet & Phone+Camera=Phamera...It is easy to catch like phablet...

I was assuming a phablet plus a camera because the "pha-" in phablet combined with the "-mera" in camera gives you phamera.

Also, I am assuming you must be young to not remember there already is a word for a phone and camera combined, it's called a camera phone.

I have no idea what you just said. The lack of proper grammar and spelling mistakes ruined whatever you were trying to say. I never told anyone what to do, but rather I made an opinion and voiced it. I'm sorry I am not like most other users that just agree with each other or care about whether they were "thumbs'd up" or not. The irony is that you are trying to say that I tell people what to do and how that is wrong while also giving me an order to stop giving advice or opinions. Way to be a hypocrite.

Quote "its like me saying you shouldn't use dr. phil name since " i didn't TELL u to do anything thus not making me a hypocrite sorry im not a grammar nazi for ur brain to understand english.... i was giving you an example clearly u grasping at straws since "u couldn't understand me" when a text like this proves that you can....

http://pullmonkey.com/assets/2009/4/17/can_you_read_this.png

my WHOLE point was that's it was pointless u can do whatever u want i was doing you a favor telling you not waste ur time like the crazy people or "TROLLs" here but w/e u have alot of time on ur hands to comment and correct grammar and be commissioner chief of police off the dictionary.

SOoooo....

That wasn't the line I was talking about. It was when you said "stop telling people what to do as u are not a pHD to give advice and thus falsely misleadin people."

Telling me to "stop" is giving me an order.

Also, you never sounded as if you were just trying to do me a favor by telling me to not waste my time. I must have been confused since you said "YO CALM down it's word....i'm sorry are u the dictionary police? noo" which to me sounded argumentative in nature instead of just telling me to stop wasting my time.

If that was your intent, then I apologize, but you sure didn't make it seem that way.

that was a continuing the "like if i were to say..." part...but fair enough, yes my intent was don't waste ur time correcting these people .... and "yo calm down" was like who gives a F*** generally LOL but it was probably poor choice in formulating my sentences

Very good points Nokia but I can't help myself say that there only 10 points on the camera! Now do 10 points on the device and I'm sold!

True, the camera will be class leading for a long time. Though I just wish Nokia would embrace the removable battery (I know, I'm probably in the minority in this).

Nokia has been making smartphones with removeable batteries for years. However, the success of the iPhone series has proven this is not so critical for the average consumer. There are some advantages to a unibody with non-removeable battery...greater rigidity of the chassis, lower weight and less manufacturing complexity given no door/latch mechanism present. That being said, I still prefer the option to remove the battery...or something like the N8 where the battery is easily self-replaceable.

In any event, Nokia still makes a hi quality device where battery removal is designed into the phone. Unlike the HTC ONE, where battery removal goes up against its glued/pressed construction. This type of design requires one to deform the device to get the battery out...the fit finish will never be the same after this procedure.

I'd prefer an external, separately chargeable battery over an internal replaceable one, if only because you don't have to power on/off the device to switch power sources. I personally haven't ever had my Lumia 900 freeze, but there was an issue with a very small amount of first-release 900s where they'd freeze and have to be reset by holding the power and camera buttons, which apparently more or less worked; Nokia pushed an update to fix it within a week or so if I recall. No further issues stemmed from that that I encountered in the forums or personally.

Android is a long way from being perfect (fragmented, insecure, resource hog). I think it's presumptive to assume that a device sucks because it doesn't use a particular OS or show a specific brand name...

So you being stuck on a lumia device, and having the same tiles like everyone else makes you proud of your phone?

Every android device is unique and provides the costumer with choices. I dont know about you but i surely dont want to wear clothes or drive a car that looks exactly the same as everyone elses.

If android is far from perfect then what do you call WP? Androids b*tch?
