After all, there's no surer way to get your smartphones in people's hands than beating their old phones off them with a football and giving them a new Lumia 630, right? Right...

After damages done to their more expensive phones. Then Nokia gives them a cheap lumia 630 that has a 5mp camera with no rear camera flash, and no front facing camera, 512mb of ram and 8gb of storage. Not to mention the low resolution display (854x480).
26. akki20892 (Posts: 3900; Member since: 04 Feb 2013)
You didn't notice their phones. Nokia choose people who using cheap phones then they did this and give away 630.
34. sgodsell (Posts: 3233; Member since: 16 Mar 2013)
So that makes it right to give them a cheaper phone? What if some of them could take selfies or video chat with their family or friends. The 630 can't do that.
One guy that was taking a picture of the gold soccer guy. His phone looked expensive. It even looked like he was going to beat the soccer guy who kicked the ball.

Looks like the only way to get people to use WP is to beat them into it.

Stop with the hating on WP bro. We all know that you love WP and are probably the biggest fan of it on the site. Stop with the acting of hating it dude. The secret is out, relax.
22. alterecho (Posts: 1098; Member since: 23 Feb 2012)
"Stop with the hating on WP"
I will, when it stops being bad.
"We all know that you love WP and are probably the biggest fan of it on the site. Stop with the acting of hating it dude. The secret is out, relax."
Reverse psychology won't work on me.
24. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2071; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
Its ok dude. There's no point arguing now. We all know that you're a WP fan pretending to be a WP hater. Relaax and secretly enjoy your WP. :)

"Its ok dude. There's no point arguing now."
No point indeed. WP is bad.

Except that it does. Hence you pop on every single WP article. Relax dude. You love WP, its not a crime. I also love WP and so do many a million. Everyone has their secret and this is your little dirty secret.
31. alterecho (Posts: 1098; Member since: 23 Feb 2012)
Repeating won't make me like WP or will it help WP.
" I also love WP and so do many a million"
1 million out of a billion? Thats no good.
" Everyone has their secret and this is your little dirty secret."
So you say WP is dirty?
32. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2071; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
Dude you already love WP. Nobody can make you like it. Relax and love your WP. :D
42. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2071; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
Ok, so you're gonna continue with act of hating WP. Its ok, whatever you wish. As long as you remain a true and die hard WP fan.
46. alterecho (Posts: 1098; Member since: 23 Feb 2012)
Yes, you'd wish that, since i'm revealing how bad WP is.
51. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2071; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
Continue with the revealing dude. I'm happy to know that there are REAL WP fans on the site like you, looking to voice their concern on some of the problems with WP. Maybe MS or Nokia will hear your pleas. Keep it up my fellow WP fan. :)
52. alterecho (Posts: 1098; Member since: 23 Feb 2012)
"I'm happy to know that there are REAL WP fans on the site like you"
That is the only way you could make anyone a fan of WP, by simply claiming they are when they aren't.
"Maybe MS or Nokia will hear your pleas"
That was exactly my intention. But now, since it looks like its of no use, my intention now is to warn people that Windows Phone, which you try to force upon me, is horrible.
53. kabhijeet.16 (Posts: 800; Member since: 05 Dec 2012)
What is wrong with you? Why forcing others to like something they dont? Do you do this to all the gals who dont like you?
Get a life....

You're so bitter alterecho, you must enjoy the things that you have right now.
44. domfonusr (Posts: 384; Member since: 17 Jan 2014)
I agree with alterecho. This is prankish and nasty. Giving me a Nokia Lumia 630 in exchange for 'my troubles' would not have been comforting. For me, the real Nokia died in 2011.
+1 for alterecho...
48. DCSeerIvan (Posts: 35; Member since: 14 Apr 2014)
Its just a promo or something. Just be happy with it :))
2. rsiders (Posts: 852; Member since: 17 Nov 2011)
Yeah a 1020, 1520, or the Icon but the measly 630? Nokia just stop it and quit making the best phones exclusives please.
8. akki20892 (Posts: 3900; Member since: 04 Feb 2013)
They would have been announced 930 for verizon and at&t plus world too.
9. jaytai0106 (Posts: 1888; Member since: 30 Mar 2011)
Breaking people's phones and only give them a 630? that's just horrible..
15. refillable (Posts: 1045; Member since: 10 Mar 2014)
Lol, They should give the 930/1520/Icon instead.
3. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2071; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
Nokia haven't mastered the art of trolling, they have mastered the art of marketing and promotion of products. Learning ofcourse from the great Samsung. :)
7. akki20892 (Posts: 3900; Member since: 04 Feb 2013)
I never seen like this video from samsung. I disagree with that. Every company do their products promotion, not only Samsung do.
10. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2071; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
What I'm trying to say is that Nokia are learning from Samsung on how to market phones, since Sammy is the king of marketing.
18. akki20892 (Posts: 3900; Member since: 04 Feb 2013)
They r not learning dude, they were doing since when they announced first phone.
12. papss (unregistered)
They should be giving good devices and not entry devices. I'd like a 930 please❗
14. refillable (Posts: 1045; Member since: 10 Mar 2014)
I like how they called Lassi Hurskainen for their ad. Oh yes, if you think those are fake, look up on him. But actually that's the only thing I like from this ad... It's not good by any means, except Lassi's skill.
20. GoBears (Posts: 448; Member since: 27 Apr 2012)
People stop with the hate on WP. I just got the 8.1 update on my 928 and it's not too bad. Sure it's not going to replace Android for me but hey... it's far better than iOS!

Luis D. You are flat out wrong:
"It's great that Nokia is still keeping its punk attitude after it was bought out by one of the world's largest corporations."
Nokia has not been bought out by any corporation and if you are referring to Microsoft and Nokia, Microsoft is NOT buying Nokia.
Don't mislead your readers with false information. Most of us expect truthful information when we read articles.
P.S. I am glad they didn't knock the phone out of the last lady's hand.
25. sgodsell (Posts: 3233; Member since: 16 Mar 2013)
Microsoft bought Nokia's phone and device's division. So as far as all of Nokia's phones are concerned. Microsoft owns them now.
38. Deaconclgi (Posts: 405; Member since: 03 Nov 2012)
Buying Nokia's Devices and Services business does not equal buying Nokia.
Nokia is SELLING that business to Microsoft and it will no longer be a part of Nokia. Nokia will continue to be a separate company so saying Microsoft owns Nokia is not accurate by no stretch of the imagination as Nokia is a company and not a group of employees that will be employed by Microsoft.
Our own opinions do not override the fact that Microsoft is not buying Nokia and that has been clear from the beginning as Microsoft has never announced they are buying Nokia and Nokia has never announced that the company has or is being bought.
27. luis.d (Posts: 327; Member since: 04 Dec 2013)
I admit I could have been more precise, but Microsoft effectively bought Nokia's core business. You probably know the company is moving on to research and licensing patents, which is a very different form of the Nokia we all know.
39. Deaconclgi (Posts: 405; Member since: 03 Nov 2012)
It isn't about being more precise. Saying that Microsoft bought Nokia is simply not true.
It doesn't matter if Microsoft bought Nokia's core business, if they didn't buy Nokia, they didn't buy Nokia. If Nokia is not a Microsoft company, Microsoft didn't acquire Nokia.
It is very simple to report what is actually occurring. As writers, it is our duty to write with accuracy so that we don't mislead the readers or better not to write at all....unless you are ok with misleading readers...then write on as you did.
Nokia has always been in the business of research and licensing patents and just because you already KNOW that Nokia is and will be a separate company, how can you write that they have been acquired when they have not...and you KNOW this?
It is amazing how people are ok with inaccurate information. Luis, this isn't an attack on you but I am just stating the facts and by you and MANY other writers continuing to write false statements, you help foster a mindset where readers come to the conclusion that sgodsell said above: "Microsoft owns them now"
That is flat out not true. Microsoft does not own Nokia and it is our job as writers to stop spread that misinformation. sgodsell will take that same mindest and give it to someone else and then a lot of people will believe a lie.
I am not saying you purposefully mislead anyone, I am stating what you said isn't true and that as a writer myself, it is our duty to present information accurately so that our readers don't leave the with the wrong information or wrong mind.

I have no relevant arguments against what you said. Thanks for taking the time and effort to write constructive criticism, and keep up the good work.

Thank you Luis and the same to you.
Have a great weekend.

This is actually i quite funny :p, but still its a bit of an assmove. 630 isnt really that expensive at all.. and what if the victim just bought a brand new s5,5s,m8,z2 etc.. i really hope they fixed the other phone for free or gave them money..
47. Karriope (Posts: 95; Member since: 07 Jun 2013)
While I find maverick marketing methods amusing, I don't think I'd be very pleased at all if they did knock my limited edition phone to the curb...
For a 630 no less. Even if it was TWO top end devices or something, you can't recompense me for data, effort, or trouble associated.
But if they were just actors involved then that's fine, but I do hope they didn't try to pick someone who's just bought a high end phone.

Better than sitting stupidly in a polluted and raining street eating Kitkats and wait for a mediocre tablet as a prize.
56. kabhijeet.16 (Posts: 800; Member since: 05 Dec 2012)
OMG.. OMG... Such a desperate & lame attempt to promote a Lumia.. Waiting for the precise moment & Targeting football at damaging phones of strange people. Stupid advt.
Even if its an advt., nobody would want to get hurt by football and want their phones getting damaged.. What about my contacts/messages/data etc.??? And in return you get a mediocre Lumia630.!!!! If it was for real, those players would get a beating.. And the topic of article is correct. Nokia is forcing people to switch to Lumia. Since your phone is damaged, you have no choice but to use what Nokia forced you to use...
Nokia.. Please you can do better than this..!!!!!
