We have been expecting this ever since Nokia closed down one of their largest N-Gage game development divisions in July...

It’s sad to hear that Nokia will be shutting down N-GAGE. I’ve played their games (I have a Nokia N85) and I’m always impressed for the type of games they deliver to a mobile device. Although this may be the end to N-GAGE, I doubt that it will be the end for the gaming industry for Nokia. Aalready there are some 3rd party games on the OVI store and this may be a new window for better improvement. I believe that Nokia didn’t advertise N-GAGE properly in some areas, like the US and for that they paid the price. I expect that maybe in the future they will offer more high end games to not only for unlocked or high end devices but for all Nokia devices no matter what provider you may carry.

I wholeheartedly agree. Nokia has always impressed me because their phones are PHONES first and other features are just add-ons... and they're tough, to boot. The N-Gage was kind of a joke for a while, but I think there's still plenty of potential left there.
