Well I love Windows Phone and I have one, and if I was getting a Windows Phone now it would definitely be this. But for some reason I think that it isn't as amazing as I expected.

I am sure the 800 sales aren't as good as the iPhone 4S or high end Androids. And that is okay. 2012 is a much more important sales period for not just Nokia, but Windows Phones in general. What they need Q4 is increasing sales, not leading sales. My opinion still is if WP, led by Nokia, get to 10% - 15% world wide smartphone sales by the end of 2012, than all is good. If not, all excuses are over and there will be trouble.

I think your expectations and time-frame are spot on snowgator. Whether they can make those numbers remains to be seen.

Has not reached the level of sales of Android and iOS, that's for sure, but at least on the carrier Orange U.K., the preorders for the Nokia 800 have made it the best selling Nokia phone ever for that carrier. I'd say that's something to make Nokia hopeful.

To be honest WP7 wont save Nokia, Nokia would have been better off if it went with MeeGo or Android.
WP7 is not as good as Meego or Android the OS is just plain boring.

It's not so much the OS as it is Nokia's inability to understand that the world belongs to Android now.
That said, maybe it IS about the OS ;-)

Nokia would have been one of the top Android manufacturers if they had taken the Android route.

I don\\\'t understand what makes Android or Meego exciting to you! I have an Android(pos Samsung Transform)as well as my wife(LG Optimus S) and neither are spectacular. Her purple phone is nice I guess but it is nothing that excites me. The Nokia 800 is a nice phone it looks nice and WP7 is different from the others of icons on a screen. My next phone will be a WP7 device as well as my wife. My daughter (16) wants a iPhone or Evo so who knows what she will get after she sees my new phone. But on topic every OS is pretty much boring until you do something with it. I would do more with my phone if I could. I enjoy it but I do not love it anymore.

I ask them the same question. Answers boil down to customization and hardware. nothing more.

Well youre comparing a low end android to a high end wp7. High end androids are pretty frickin beast.

Right. WP7 is not as good as Andriod. It's superior in every possible way imaginable.

Better or not, doesn't matter. To the many who are using wp, its smooth, fast, and easy to use. I won't stoop myself to low levels comparing OSs because i don't see a need. Wp works, its different, user friendly, artistic and beautiful in its own right.

@ superEd name 1. Until today,I didnt know ms had fanboys. MS in general is pathetic. the main drawback of owning a pc is having 2 use MS Os !

Next year we\'ll see Nokia. Maybe Windows 8 will be a complete OS for it, by then Android next version will be released.

Hell, I'm an Android user but I'd buy this phone if I got a FREE 360 with it also. I think they're negating the fact that pre-orders are high because of this. I know they mentioned it but this fact is the sole driving force here. They're giving away a $300 console!!! As the old saying goes... it takes money to make money.

Agreed.without the console sales would be far far far lower

If Nokia had kept MeeGo as their main OS, I would\'ve considered a Nokia phone once more. WP7 is a good OS but not for my taste. It seems I will remain with Android for some time.

overly colour saturated rose tinted glasses from nokia id say. Bad choice with wp means the final nails in the nokia smartphone coffins are already easing in

android, people keep on talking about android, praising it..damn this android phone...power hungry(poor battery life)...s**t!!!

Isn't it getting tiring having the carriers exhibit such laziness? Selling the latest Android or iPhone is a no brainer and in the US I have heard of sales people even all but refusing to show the phones. So I take with a grain of salt the excuses they might offer as to weak sales of the Windows Phones.
This is also being judged on pre-orders, so maybe once the stored line them up like other devices, who is to say?
