Nokia backpedals and says carriers can customize Maemo
Share:
Yesterday we reported that the execs at Nokia had decided to disallow carriers from customizing the Maemo OS and the N900 handset that runs Maemo 5. News travels fast these days and the Finnish manufacturer, wagging the "no-no" finger, said that the interpretation was incorrect. It is simply a matter than Nokia has not yet introduced a operator variant version of the N900 and that the N900 has plenty of customization points for a willing carrier. The company wrote, "It would be absolutely incorrect to assume that we will not offer
operators the ability to tailor future Maemo devices to suit their
needs." Nokia went on to add that "the consumer experience" is the main focus for the company. Glad we could clear that all up.
