Just to point out the obvious... Lets get something clear. This is an update patch. Huge difference. Lumias are not getting updates any faster than Android which is about 2 per year. Both OS get patches as needed when needed. Getting patches usually means there was problems...

Lumia will get update when ever MS releases update for WP8 unlike Android where Google keeps releasin new versions but OEMs rearly updates devices and if they do the user hav to wait months to get an update.

Just a few questions its been nearly 6 months Google released 4.2 how many devices runnin it? Why 44% of android devices still runnin Gingerbread a 2 year old OS?

WP7 can be updated until WP7.8

Can you upgrade an android from Gingerbread to Jelly Bean? Bet you can, but after that you won’t be able to use your phone, the hardware necessary to run it simply isn’t there. The same here, the WP8 is completely different and won’t run on WP7 hardware. Sometimes the software extends to certain limits that the hardware has to be new/replaced. Everybody dealing with informatics is doing this all the time.

Sorry to know your bad experience with WP8 but I can assume something is wrong with your equipment for it to be turning off constantly, you should have exchanged it when you could. Best to do is install the latest updates and see if it improves.

You can use a dictionary to translate the sentence "providing stability to the system" to your language if you don't know what it means.

What Nokia said was "stability improvements" which means this version is more stable than the previous.

Nokia has always been fast when it comes to pushing performance updates (even when they used to be the king) and it is good to see that they are still continuing that trend.

My 5800xm received if not mistaken 6 updates. Each one turned the phone better and better.

Let me tell you a secret.. I hate and despise ignorance, hatred, bias, monopoly and arrogance..and I don't hate Nokia.
And I'm not a faboy of neither Android nor Samsung.
I am a fan of tech, objectivity and fair play.
I owned and loved Nokia phones but just can't and won't get over the fact that Nokia turned against itself because of arrogance and money Microsoft threw at them.
The had fantastic chances with Maemo/Meego and Symbian, and they just killed it!
Those are facts

Okay, I apologize for the comment about you getting a sex change. However, it gets tiring to endure the constant attacks against Nokia and WP8, and so I have gotten into the habit to dishi t back out to those who I think refuse to be objective or even remotely polite. It's nothing personal, though, and I'll probably slap you around again at some point in the near future ;o)

It's true that Elop's burning platform statement was over the top, and perhaps Nokia didn't have to be vocal about eliminating support for Symbian. That surely hastened the decline of popularity for those devices. However, Nokia was in steep decline even before Elop took the helm, and switching over to Windows Phone made sense at the time. It would have been nice to market both Android and WP8 devices, but they get paid by Microsoft, and when you're in a fix, you don't usually get the option to serve different masters...

That said, I like my Lumia 920, and WP8 functions relatively well in most cases. It does need a better built-in media player, VPN, file explorer, and other things too, but the UI is fast and smooth. The lack of apps can be a problem, but you can usually find something to suit your needs. I don't like not being able to turn off some of the apps, and the lack of a foward button on IE is annoying, but oh well. WP8 is a work in progress, but it's not as bad as many here are claiming. The average person does not mod their phone, and so I'm not convinced the biggest gripes against WP8 are complaints worth taking seriously.

I don't hate Android, and I almost purchsed a Nexus 4 instead of a second Lumia 920, but there were never any available in the play store, and so I just gave up, and went with what I already know and like. Every technology company has it's virtues, even the big nasty Apple that appears to be hated by most of the people posting on this website. The real problem for Apple is that Steve Jobs is dead, and he was the life and blood of that company. He had the uncanny ability to know what kind of technology consumers would appreciate, even before those devices were on the market. Unfortunately, he's dead and gone now, and you can see that Apple is really hurting. However, I don't really feel sorry for a company that still has 140 billion in the bank. That money could eliminate global starvation for a few years at least, but business is business (sigh).

What about the new SG IV? Naaaaaaah. Bland and boring, and full of useless gimmicks. Nexxxxxxxxt....

Here's a handshake, pal.

And nice excuse with the high price whoring.. that's about how I see it too.. and can live with how things are shaping up for Nokia, but I doubt I'll ever be really supportive about it.
I just hope next windows phone release will be good enough so people who buy Nokia as a first smartphone don't be at a loss in the user experience.. and last and least, WP fanboys will have a better case to troll about.

Btw I've tried the L920, and I even gave my friend a nod for getting one.
It's a great piece of handset, superbly executed, with style and confident attitude.
I have no gripes with the device per se.

But I have gripes with those glorifying it over anything else just because it's a Nokia, and even worse, glorifying it as a testament of Microsoft&Nokia supposedly brilliant alliance.
Oh and btw, most of them are hating and detesting Samsung just because it's Samsung.

Having a Galaxy S3 I know perfectly well that Samsung made a great, brilliantly thought out product of high quality

Nope.. I like Android, but that's all.

And I think Meego was a much better foundation, for example.
Had Nokia invested all the money they bled out in the last few years..had they invested it in their own strengths, their own software know-how and eco system that was already there (the Ovi store)..they would still be the most valuable European company.. the undisputed Juggernaut of mobile phone scene.
And you guys wouldn't have to bitch about Samsung and their plastic.

But what Nokia did?
Betrayed and spat on its own soul and legacy, threw it all through the window(s) and Slavishly turned to Microsoft's sterile corporate mentality and filthy money.

I get what you are saying and agree on The what ifs. See this is my first Nokia phone and I came from a long line of android phones, I can honestly say I wouldnt change my decision. Holding my red l920 in my hand its the best phone I've ever had and truth be told I don't hate the tiles..I rather enjoy them for what they are. I do miss some features like picking my own web browser and ff on the media player but they really are small enough that I wouldn't change back ( for now). Nokia apps like cinematography is awesome
