Nokia Lumia 920 vs iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S III vs HTC One X low-light comparison yields predictable results
0. phoneArena posted on 27 Sep 2012, 06:34
The Nokia Lumia 920 was already demoed to show superior image stabilization while shooting video, compared to its iPhone 5, Galaxy S III and HTC One X peers, but what about low-light still shots, where Nokia claims a strength, too? We saw some low-light shots comparison in a Nokia-controlled setup with an iPhone 4S and a Galaxy S III, and now we have one against those three leading the Android an iOS pack above...

If you read the original article, they state that all the phones used auto mode.

Nokia camera always the best since Carl Zeiss creation :)
3. Droid_X_Doug posted on 27 Sep 2012, 06:45 8 0
Nokia 808 is arguably the best camera/phone combo. L920 is currently un-obtainium at present.
14. maverick786us posted on 27 Sep 2012, 07:04 4 0
808 is good because of lager senser and the best thing lossless zoom which is not there in Lumia 920. But Lumia 920 has optical image stablization and exposure compesation, which 808 laggs.

36. haseebzahid posted on 27 Sep 2012, 13:15 1 0
yes 808 is not best for low light
10. maverick786us posted on 27 Sep 2012, 07:00 3 0
Carl Zeiss is only the lens diaper girl. There are other things that makes camera great like focul length and apreture size.

I guess 920 uses what they call autofocus flash?
5. maryaaadil posted on 27 Sep 2012, 06:46 12 0
It was obvious but somebody correct me if i am wrong that 920 pics are better than 808(in dark conditions)
17. blackeye117 posted on 27 Sep 2012, 07:08 6 0
they are better in 920 than 808 in auto settings on both phones but when you bump up the iso on the 808 then its a different story , correct me if i am wrong too :)
21. shadez10 posted on 27 Sep 2012, 07:16 4 0
yes you are right... when you change the ISO setting on the 808 it will produce more natural colored night shots...
37. haseebzahid posted on 27 Sep 2012, 13:16 0 0
didnt knew that i was taking the first pic vs 920 as comparison which was not that good i think its wasnt using iso

Okay 920 camera is the best, get over it. I'm looking for smartphone not camera phone. Show me other functionalities

This is a camera comparison article though. So you'd probably do better looking else where.

Nokia Lumia has the best screen: PureMotion HD+ with the highest resolution 1280*768 (competitors 1280*720), it's much brighter than other phones, and much more sensitive, can be operated with gloves or anything else (ex. key, pen), it has higher pixel density 332 ppi than iphone's retina dispaly 326 ppi, GS3 -306 ppi.
Lumia has the best PureView camera: 8.7 MP with optical image stabilization, dual LED flash, wireless charging, the body is the best protected against scrathes, Lumia has exclusive Nokia apps and great maps and many great accessories (JBL audio system...)
All other specs are the same or better than competitors phones. It has LTE, NSF, powerful processor and powerful batery, etc.
Nokia's quality is defenetively the best and it's proved by practise!!!
28. Seymur posted on 27 Sep 2012, 08:02 1 2
Exclusive Nokia apps? I've used enough Nokia phones to know where this is going.

How can we be sure those pics were really taken by Nokia Lumia 920? Considering the history...............................................
If they're real, good luck! It's still not going to sell as much as S3 and i5.
Just saying............

Dude, did you read the whole post??? It says clearly that the test was done by engadget. By the way, Engadget is known for bashing Nokia and prasing the iphone.
12. Mercenary posted on 27 Sep 2012, 07:01 3 0
Wow..when you compare 100-percent view of 2 and 3..it seems like lumia 920 is better than 808!

Samsung GS3 camera take an actual picture no pretending.
23. Droid_X_Doug posted on 27 Sep 2012, 07:19 0 10
Also, you can buy GS III right now, while L920 you have to wait for.
16. Jonathan41 posted on 27 Sep 2012, 07:05 6 0
Would take a Lumia 920 over a PureView 808 no question. Especially after seeing how well the 920 performed here. Great Camera plus you get don't have to sacrifice on other features. I'm really liking this phone man. I might have to double-down and grab one of these to go along side my One X. I'm considering it. Nokia really hit the mark with the 920.
18. maverick786us posted on 27 Sep 2012, 07:09 0 0
I think the only thing that Lumia 920 camera missed is "Simultaneous HD video and image recording". I remeber last party I was recording a footage with my Lumia 900 and I had to stop the recording and take static pictures which was a pain.
19. PhenomFaz posted on 27 Sep 2012, 07:09 0 2
I like android...but I really hope Nokia do well.
That being said oh come on Nokia, if you have the goods your stuff will sell.
Stop drawing comparisons always its starting to get on the nerve. We want to know what your device can do period! Not what it can do compared to others!
Comparisons are relative. If you take a crappy phone and compare it to another crappy phone, does that necessarily mean the less crappy phone is a good phone? NO!
30. -box- posted on 27 Sep 2012, 08:16 0 0
While Nokia was the host for this comparison, it wasn't something they necessarily set up. Engadget came for a visit during one of Nokia's event at their HQ, brought a bunch of phones to compare, and, apparently, were impressed enough with the results to get a few articles out of them
22. FranksGT posted on 27 Sep 2012, 07:16 1 1
I wish I could write my own article, I love how PA, degrades the one x, on all of these photo shoots. My one x can take 10x better picture then the one displayed. I can prove it. Someone is getting paid to do some dirty work.
31. -box- posted on 27 Sep 2012, 08:18 1 0
These were all shot on auto mode. Yes, if you tweak the settings on any of these phones they might produce better photos (especially the 808), but how many general consumers actually do that? How many whip out their phones, hit the camera button (if they have one, otherwise launch the camera app from the screen) and start recording video or shooting photos without touching the settings?
32. lzsbleach posted on 27 Sep 2012, 08:59 0 0
I dont think Samsung focuses on there camera that much, and they should start doing that with the GS4 because this is a bad comparison for them.
33. protozeloz posted on 27 Sep 2012, 09:41 1 4
sorry But this seems quite bogus are they Using Night Mode on those pictures?
here are some more objective shots

yeah nokia wins but still photos look better on the S3 and the One X that what they look in here

35. shadez10 posted on 27 Sep 2012, 13:07 2 0
did you read the article?..
it says all of the pictures are taken on Auto mode...
i know the galaxy S3 on the verge article took good night shots because its on night mode... but it cant even match the picture taken with the Lumia 920 even on auto mode...
39. protozeloz posted on 27 Sep 2012, 13:53 0 4
I dont think Ive said the nokia fared worse, all I'm saying is for comparsions sake you need to try out the night mode, another quiestion is if the Nokia has an explicit "night mode" or its all one mode to rule them all (like the iPhone), for example if you take away of of the iphone HDR setting picture fair less good but suddenly you can't include anything that makes the picture look better on both the One X and the S3? I'm not saying they beat the 920 but rather they fair better than this.
