At the end of the day, nokia has always had huge success in India

Nice tv add, too bad the LTE won't be able to support local carries in India, so they'll have to do with hspa+ until maybe next year

25. eisenbricher posted on 30 Dec 2012, 14:41 3 1

I wish they release a non-LTE version, which may reduce price tag. Honestly, only one carrier provides LTE here, and only in small number of cities. That doesn't even count. Most people still are using 2G connections.

Actually the average internet bandwidth (Includes wired internet) is far too less than their American, or let's say European counterparts. Let alone the Japan and South Korea.

I am a techie but speaking truth, I've never seen speeds reaching to that levels around here. I've used 3G myself many times, but it still sucks. So I stick to 2G, which is good enough for notifications and browsing with opera mini, and wi-fi at home.

There's some TRAI regulation released very recently (a day or two back IIRC). All companies which promise lets say 7+mbps if they fail to deliver 5.4 they can be fined heavily on complains.

30. eisenbricher posted on 30 Dec 2012, 15:16

Nice to know that!

40. rrpcfc24 posted on 30 Dec 2012, 21:58

oh didn't know that ... i am using airtel 3g data card and getting total bandwidth of 68kbps ...how embarrassing i'll be the first to complain ...anyways i have unlocked the data card for all carriers now using with TATA Docomo GSM getting good speeds now

56. shuaibhere posted on 31 Dec 2012, 09:16 1

Nice to hear that....but am getting 2000 mbps downloading speed just for 100 rs per month...I dunno why airtel is giving me more than what i paid for...

43. Bernoulli posted on 30 Dec 2012, 22:27

How do you make with 2g mate? I currently am with t-mobile and even though it's not LTE I pull 20 mbps and sometimes when downloading a game or tethering to my laptop and playstation I still get lag at times, anyway I hope competition grows in India so that all carriers stop being greedy and give the people back some of the wealth in the form of LTE lol

45. eisenbricher posted on 30 Dec 2012, 23:03

Things you haven't seen, you don't miss them. Yeah. That's how. Remember past days, we weren't bothered at all about internet on mobile, right?

Also I have access to internet on PC at my home, even at my workplace. So yeah, need net for notifications at the most.

Right mate, there isn't enough competition here in the Data. A lot of there in calling rates, so call rate are the cheapest here. I hope same happens with data as well ^^

Nice to know about 920 :)

@eisenbricher FYI, People use Edge network not 2G network.

35. -box- posted on 30 Dec 2012, 19:52 1

For GSM, EDGE=2G

54. eisenbricher posted on 31 Dec 2012, 03:20

Actually no, EDGE is speedier that 2G. 2G can be called GPRS.
EDGE is 2.5G

So yeah, I was at fault. We all use EDGE here. Which is better than 2G.

34. TROLL posted on 30 Dec 2012, 19:22 8

This wont be selling due to WP8 WP7 is not a big hit in india, Symbian, Android, and in 3rd iOs.
I believe this will be an "Epic Fail"

Really? I see many WP phones in the wild. I'm a daily commuter in Mumbai and I think wp is fairly popular. And all my friends who own WP phone, are extremely happy with it.

37. predator93 posted on 30 Dec 2012, 20:25 1 1

Good move from Nokia, they need to launch their flagships in all the countries to give it a chance to sell more. They have finally broken the trend started with N9.

38. rrpcfc24 posted on 30 Dec 2012, 21:38 1 1

I don't know how successful Nokia will be as i think Galaxy grand will be launched around the same time .
what i am saying is lumia 920 will be around 35K+ with galaxy grand around 20K ...many would certainly go for a 5 inch Galaxy grand running latest android which is 15K less than nokia.
if you compare the b/w the 2 only thing that stands out for nokia is their design ,pure view camera tag , b/w don't know what people think of WP OS here as far as i know android clearly has the upper hand.

Poor Indian here.

s**t can't buy any phone! Soo poor!

Is that the picture everyone has of us? if this is after you watched SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE then please for Christ's sake (yes I'm a Hindu I follow other gods but I never have a problem taking any other god's name too, a god is a god) STOP THINKING US AS POOR HELPLESS SLUM DOGS.

We aren't.

EDIT:

Staying on topic, excited for phone launch. Price 35k INR I'm guessing. Let's see if I can take a dig at it.

51. PhansMuneeb posted on 31 Dec 2012, 00:26 3

STFU....No Indians are poor. And we don't want to waste our money on limited OS. so yes WP8 will not be a major success here in India it will remain in b/w 2-8%.

It's really simple in india we have to pay a full one time cost without contract...

And in other countries most of them are getting it for free with contract ....

And how many Americans bought Nokia lumia 920 without contract ......
0%...

58. jameshoe posted on 31 Dec 2012, 10:08

you are right, we never pay any contract for any free phone

57. neos12 posted on 31 Dec 2012, 10:02 1

Well, WP is best os according to UI-Design-Technology. People who think spending less money on cheap android do not know about designs & user experience in WP.

They buy galaxy s2 & s3 simply because either apps or cheap phones but android market has lots of virus, anyone can put any app directly & it is not even tested by android market.

Yet people proud to say that buy GS2 & GS3 while just drop them from 2nd or 3rd floor or throw it once it will breaks easily, while in nokia lumia family all phones with gorilla glass & hard enough that even if car pass over phone its does not even scratch.

I do not like android because of its battery draining os & apps, while spending 15k INR in anroid Samsung products phone get slower & hangs with even 4 to 8 gb sd card.

Nokia & htc both going to hit big market for windows phone 8.

Specially Lumia 920 & 620.

I have spent more than 50% fee to pay for electricity charges just because of charging my droid phone, GALAXY is a juice killer
