Nokia Lumia 920 drop test (video)

0. phoneArena posted on 12 Nov 2012, 05:28

The phone appears to be built like tank, not only looking the part, after it gets (un)intentionally dropped from waist, shoulder and ear heights, including getting tossed to the ground by a toddler...

I'd like to know if the OIS-system (and to be more spesific, the springs in it) works properly after those drops. Otherwise, good phone for receiving bad news. ;)

very impressive Nokia! Awesome hardware, sturdy design and eexciting WP!
There's just one little problem though....Launch that phone already!

I've had mine since Friday, and while there is a lot to love about the phone, there are still some minor issues.

Care to elaborate? The image stabilization seems to be a benefit for citizen journalists that have trouble taking blur-free stills.... But what about the other things that make a smartphone smart?

17. fervid posted on 12 Nov 2012, 07:26 2

I've had mine since Saturday. I wanted the Note 2 for ATT, but will wait till end of Feb for wife's upgrade. Phone is pretty impressive. I feel even better about it now after drop test video. Battery is great, speaker is amazining, screen is amazing, and phone runs really smooth.

I'm not as impressed with the camera as I thought I'd be although the lens keep coming and add more too it. I downloaded Microsoft's PDF viewer, but still was unable to view a pdf bill online...they really need to get file system support in the browser, and a file system app in general. Twitter and the built-in facebook stuff need to scroll more like Android, but it is better integration than Android. Gasbuddy is more limited in Windows Phones too if you use it. I also couldn't get Google contacts to sync with People Hub (although they were searchable???)...I ended up exporting them to Outlook CSV then importing them (Both of which needed a PC since IE10 still can't do anything with files).

I'm pleasantly surprised, Hemlocke; I thought you were hardcore iDevice-user

22. PhenomFaz posted on 12 Nov 2012, 09:14 1

i guess its a little of win(pun intended) some, lose some :)
but its their first major release in WP and its WP8....i think MS is only gonna make it better over time

So, does this mean that PA is about to release a review of a Nokia L920 that also experienced a drop test?

Yeah .. Samsung is for adults... Cos its crap..!

23. kach22 posted on 12 Nov 2012, 09:15

It seems nokia's clawing back for survival. They know with super build quality they can again regain some trust from their loyal customers. Good works but you still need to go a long way with microsoft as your partner.

24. Buddhikawi posted on 12 Nov 2012, 09:23

Where are the Galaxy SIII owners guys...!

26. tasior posted on 12 Nov 2012, 09:46 1

That's why until WP era, I always had Nokia in my pocket. I never worried about dropping my phone. I even, had a habit of throwing it about 20 cm up, spinning fast. I was 100% sure, that if I drop my Nokia nothing will happen. It took me about 4 years, which included hundreds of drops, to destroy it. More recent Nokia's, despite many drops, still fully functional lay in my closet. Thankfully Sony Ericsson's are not so bad either. But when I look, at new Samsung's that after one drop are useless, or IPhone's that survives their drops, but glass is shattered, I pity their owners.

i really don't understand what is the purpose behind this silly drop test. Other than to publicize their stupid site.
