Oh wow.. The 920 Costs more than the SIII, Note II, One X+ Etc.. I saw the demo and the phone is amazing.. but the price is just too much.. i believe that the nokia fan boys will take it but i dont expect this to have extraordinary sales.

Reduce the price to INR 30k and we'll think about it. No one would pay 38+ k for 920.

u spared me the effort to write that!

On my radar if it drops below NOTE-1.

if you indian people need cheap crap go buy samsung.. Quality comes at a price...!

23. Mittal posted on 10 Jan 2013, 10:20 1

Depends on what u call quality
I will definitely buy a 38k Note 2 but not the 38k 920 unless i really want good low light camera and good image stabilization!(which i dont) because Android gives me more fulfilling and fun experience. There is so much u can do with it.
Whereas for WP it being still in the nascent stage, it needs to be marketed with great attractions so that it can lure new buyers out of Android and Apple's clutches. And pricing it at par with the most popular out there is not too wise in a market where the recognition for WP is too low!!!
And your reference to us Indian people the way you did is not appreciated... Makes me want to generalize your lame outlook for your whole nation!

Thats typical pricing of nokia since old days EXPENSIVE.. they just dont get it that the game has changed and they need to fight others to survive.

5. harsh_doshi posted on 10 Jan 2013, 05:13 8

to the haters...all top end phones are priced over 40k inr at the time of launch...so was the s3 the note2 the one x the iphone every! had price above 40k (iphone still has) and then it drops to around 35k in a month or 2 I guarantee that will happen to it too..so atm the price is justified

8. Mittal posted on 10 Jan 2013, 05:35

i am against the iPhone for its pricing anyway.....
and as cyborg009 correctly said, WP is in such a position currently that it really needs to do everything to get a firm hold of the market. Nokia is not doing itself any favours by treating itself at par with all others who are already doing pretty well (Samsung)
I m not saying that th e920 is not good.. in fact its an awesome peice of machinery, but unless u make it tempting, no1 will apprach a new unproven platform

The 920 lacks high availability to be priced lower, and by pricing it in accordance with other high-end phones they are not undervaluing it. For cheaper handsets there are the 820, 620, and the 510 or 520 (don't recall which). These will do well for those that are used to buying Symbian or Asha series phones.

24. Mittal posted on 10 Jan 2013, 10:27

youve got a point there !
But then we will also have to admit that feature wise WP8 somewhat underdelivers compared to Android (at least at present). WP8 is a gr8 step ahead of WP7.5, but still there are gaps to be filled. So unless things get close enough as far as the offering is concerned, i would imagine that a price advantage can really help Nokia catapult itself faster!

This needs to drop below NOTE-1 to be meaningful
Not everyone just cares for camera on phone.

12. tashreef posted on 10 Jan 2013, 05:55 1 1

every one just Don't buy a phone for Editing their birth day pictures....... .... What else a Note can do.....Better then Other smartphones? Nothing...

14. thunderbolt posted on 10 Jan 2013, 06:10 2 2

What can 920 do in addition to Note? Looks like you alredy bought 920. For b'day pictures i would take a 16mp point and shoot Sony/Nikon ... don't need to shoot phots every hour from phones.

15. tashreef posted on 10 Jan 2013, 06:18 3 1

And A Lumia 920 owner will use his phone to take pictures instead of spending on a 16mp point and Shoot Sony/Nikon camera....

16. thunderbolt posted on 10 Jan 2013, 06:41 1 1

And still not get a better picture than point and shoot. NOTE-1+16mp point and shoot < 920 ... at todays price. Last Quarter the Windows Phone unit made a 49% loss per every Lumia smartphone sold. How much worse can it get?

17. Mittal posted on 10 Jan 2013, 06:44

i doubt if it is more about these particular devices but more about the operating systems

Nokia Lumia 820 is also a cool choice and fairly priced.

9. Mittal posted on 10 Jan 2013, 05:37 1

Yes i agree

13. jstahl posted on 10 Jan 2013, 06:03 2 3

With HTC DNA and upcoming Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, HTC M7 up around the corner, 920 is already D.O.A.. A generation behind already, even before release.

I really had my hopes up for 920, but when I tested it out, it's just too thick, heavy, and the battery life is absolutely disgraceful. You need to charge this thing twice a day. Absolutely horrid.
