Nokia Lumia 730 rumored to be the Windows Phone Tango poster child, skimping on ClearBlack and polycarbonate

0. phoneArena posted on 13 Feb 2012, 05:30

Rumors pinpoint a Lumia 730 to take the Nokia Windows Phone entry level crown come MWC in two weeks. The new handset will allegedly be the poster child for the Tango update, which will eventually allow for phones with lower screen resolutions and as little as 256MB of RAM to run Windows Phone Tango just fine...

If this is the new standard for low end, we are in for a treat when they make a high end model.

It looks like Nokia and Microsoft windows 7 Tango class smart phones are off and
running at last I doubt that we will ever see theses smart phones sold in America.
Nokia has a presence in countries that do not have as high a living standard that is in America so this device is right for that market and will make Microsoft windows smart phones have a more global reach than Apple smart phones in the end.

Did you read that Apple is heading towards the trillion dollar mark? And they didn't even need to go to third world countries. So what is Nokia and MS trying do? Make billions and trillions off poor folks? Make themselves stand out in the emerging countries so that they can be recognized by developed ones? Nokia and WP gonna be known as a poor folks phone. Who in the developing world gonna trust their products? Start your product with an iron fist the USA and spread to the world like a virus! Not other way around. The market is in the USA, not in the jungles of Brazil! F-uck anyhow! I'm with Tmo. Probably will never see Hero wp.

Whoooaaa! Easy partner! They are trying to get a foot hold anywhere they can. Do you think that Apple or any company is turning down any customers? There are plenty of "poor" people in the good ol USA. The names Microsoft and Nokia are trusted brands worldwide also.

Then do something in the US. That's where the gold is. And doesn't nokia already have a worldwide reputation besides the US? You know Xbox tried to make a large name in Japan and failed miserably. At the end, it ws the good ol' USA that brought them the gold. You know, I could be wrong. Because MS and Nokia are struggling to have their brands taken up by carriers in the US, besides ATT, the only other option is to go worldwide and mid and low phones are the major options for developing countries. Therefore there's no need to present to the US hero phones at this time until Apollo. A flaw to this strategy is that I see is the comp will always be a step ahead.

Proves how bad Nokia wanted these markets. Microsoft was very, very smart to agree to this low end idea to get Nokia onboard. The Global reach of these phones will propel huge sales of the WP platform. That can only help in the long term growth of the WP OS.

This is prob the only way nokia will achieve any bit of success in the smartphone market as wp sales are extremely poor at the high end level simply because absolutely nobody opts for a wp phone for high price and long contract when they could get the likes of the galaxy s2 or iphone instead.

Unfortunately nokia picked the worst of the os platforms for their smartphones

I dont see it.

Why would they make a lower end model with a higher number?

710 denotes a lower model number than a 730. It sounds more like they are making a slightly upgraded 710 if they are adding capacitive buttons and a bigger camera.. both of which are symbols of higher end than lower end. getting rid of the polycarbonate isnt a big deal, since the 710 is black and pretty square anyways. regular plastic will do just fine.. lol

If it were like a 630 with hard buttons, no clear black, and a 3mpx camera (or less), i could believe it. The phone described in the article would not survive in the ultra low end market, which is what the next windows update is supposed to be competitive in.

it might be nice enough to show off the next update, but a phone like that is definitely not destined for low end competition. mid range and american prepay maybe, but not el cheapo africa, china, and india.
