That doesn't prove the 1520 would beat the finished GS5, right? This and that are two totally different things. :)

You are not wrong. You're just... kinda off topic.

Lets get one thing straight.. If you game on a cell phone I'm going to laugh at you. Game play trumps all and touch screens don't have it

Gaming PC's are running Windows and Microsoft has strong positions in the console business, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Windows Phones perform well.

Sure, because sitting in front a gaming rig is soo normal and comfortable.

Like hundreds of millions other people, I much prefer laying back and casually enjoying Real Racing(racing works miles better with gyroscopic steering than with any keyboard FYI), or play a strategy game such as Anomaly 2 (absolutely the same game that's released on a pc, even graphics wise, but easier to play on a touchscreen)..or some of the hundreds of thousands of casual games that were made for touch.
THAT'S normal gaming, for normal people.

Pc gaming?
Anti social, impractical, expensive, health ruining activity for minors

Good for Lumia 1520 owners. I am surprised to see that WP is optimized enough to offset +128Mhz difference of gpu frequency on S5.

S5 gpu - adreno330 @ 578Mhz
Lumia 1520 gpu - adreno 330 @ 450Mhz

What's the point of this when they're all using the same GPU (Adreno 330)?

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a faster GPU, so technically it should perform better, but the Nokia Lumia 1520 beats it anyways

Please give us the exact name of the games and we'll add them to the boosting... eeerrr normalization code. Try again after this has been implemented.

If you think a company that has been caught cheating, over and over, since the Galaxy S isn't cheating, you are naive or stupid. What you should be saying is "Samsung hasn't been caught since 4.4 release."

I always thought the Lumia 1520 is the perfect device for gaming. 6" Full HD IPS Display with ClearBlack Technology is a joy to see. Nice to see that the benchmark also proves that.
I have both Samsung Galaxy S4 and Lumia 1520. Guess this is another reason not to upgrade my S4. I'll be waiting for the Premium S-5 (Galaxy F) instead.

Not the only device to beat the S5 in benchmarks:

No surprise there. The Samsh.t runs on Handroid, and the Nokia runs on WP8, they both have similar hardware, what did you expect? The only way for a Handroid device to level with a WP device, is when the later has half the cores on its cpu.

No surprise here. Pushing WP8 might even be easier than pushing IOS.

IOS = Pacman. Any hardware can run it smoothly

WP8 = Galaga

Android = Uncharted or Gears of war. Requires a PS3 or XBOX 360 to run them properly and there still will be an occasional frame drop or lag because it pushes a lot more than Pacman and Galaga.

More like C++, C, and not worrying about converting from Java to runtime. I could be blowing smoke, but when you make a game in C++, I would bet a few pennies it would run over the same Java compiled game.

It's clear that android devices are not optimized for the OS ( more power is wasted)

They should also do some game benchmarks to show the fps.

I'm sure when more GS5 units with different customizations and configurations by people become available, it will beat this WP score, since the GPU in the 801 is running at a higher frequency than in the 800. Same with that HTC One phone. I'm sure 38-40k is possibly achievable

I think the reason is throttling, or better said, the relative lack of throttling in the Lumia 1520.
It has been noticed to heat up less than Android devices during gaming.
Nokia built a thermally efficient design.
