We've been talking about the Nokia 1520 for what feels like an eternity, and that's despite the fact that it wasn't all that long ago since the number 1520 was thrown into play by the the rumor-spewing machine...

Aside from cutting edge specs, I want all future Windows Phone from Microsoft to be called as 'Nokia-something' not as 'Microsoft-heaven-knows-what' or 'Windows-Phone-I-don't-freaking-care'!

Microsoft got the Lumia branding as a part of the deal. Close enough, I guess.

Microsoft doesn't have the charm that Nokia delivered for the past century. Nokia is very well known here in the Philippines. A lot of people knows about iPhone and Samsung (not Android) and even BlackBerry but no one knows what Windows Phone is. Some, maybe. By ditching, 'Nokia' it's like they're ditching Nokia's legion of fans. Nokia did not die instantly unlike BlackBerry and that is because of brand loyalty. Microsoft should think about this first.

Yeah same here in India. Ppl here only knows nokia! Android or wp doesnt matter that much here because of course not everyone is a tech geek, so people here prefer the "Nokia" and if microsoft ditches the name then they are in for a big cut in sales in the world's 2nd largest phone market!

I dont think so, Nokia does have a brand value but brand name is not synonymous to the product...
If we say Samsung = Android
then how did Micromax flourish beating Sony and HTC
its all about specs...
people consider OS as one of the specs of the hardware...
brand is for marketing, making people to be proud of owning it... its just marketing...
A micromax canvas user cant boast about brand over a samsung galaxy user... for him he has what he wants...
Android = 75% flexibility + 20% performance + 5% innovation
iOS = 30% flexibility + 70% Performance + 20% innovation
Windows= 25% flexibility + 75% Performance + 50% innovation [balanced]

Agree
and btw according to the pictures, with this update (gdr3 coming with L1520) we can choose different colors for each individual tile? It would be cool...

I'd luv that. I'm getting this phone no matter what tho,...since I personally find WP8 to be perfect for me. This screen size is perfect for me.

The phone itself seems like it could be a promising addition to the phablet competition. If it was Android from Nokia I might not buy it since they are better at the market of WP. The large sceen and that Snapdragon 800 going to be nice as a business phone for me.

I was joyful when I heard MS will buy Nokia but after the news that the Nokia I know will perish after the acquisition, I'm filled with disgust. MS is stupid for thinking that by removing 'Nokia', Windows Phone will grow. Not a single soul knows a Microsoft branded phone. Windows Mobile is garbage and people only bought Lumias because it's Nokia. I did. In addition to that, there are reports that MS will ditch Asha. What the heck were they thinking? If this will happen, I'll probably switch to iPhone or Android. I'll make compromises instead of sticking with a nitwit company. I will be more than glad to switch to Android if the remaining Nokia will make an Android device in the future.

Without "Nokia" microsoft are edging towards a huge fall!! I so so hope that the deal doesnt go through! And with the rumours that nokia is testing android, that makes me more excited!! Just because of nokia so many wp handsets are sold! Imagine how many will sell when nokia releases an android one!!

Perhaps the new Nokia Lumia will be a great phone if you compare the quality with the price sold (most important factor). You're welcome in Romania on site:nokialumia.ro

Nokia had 5% customization privileges on WP for the past 2 years...
With that 5% Nokia had conquered the WP market...

Now Nokia has 100% privileges on WP
With that 100% Nokia will conquer a minimum of 25% global market-share before 2015

Its Good thing for Nokia, Microsoft, Windows OS
and a bad thing for under-performing brands, unproductive quality, bloatwares, adwares etc
