Nokia Hello project replacing “inefficient” verbal communication with NFC, and it's not even April Fools' yet

0. phoneArena posted on 03 Feb 2012, 07:45

Now, this better be Nokia’s April fools joke posted early, or it’s easily the nuttiest idea we’ve seen from a company’s research department (and we’ve seen some crazy ones!)…

LOL! Now wouldn't it just be easier to avoid these people that you don't want to talk to? Let's hope this is either been blown out of proportion or is some kind of joke. :p

I like this. To the people I like I will verbally acknowledge them. To the people I dislike I will use NFC technology to greet them with "Don't talk to me, I DON'T LIKE YOU!" or "You have bad BREATH!" or "You SMELL, try some deodorant!" You know things that you want to say but you can't, now we all have an outlet!

Hey it saves me the hassle of actually talking to people I don't like, plus I can express my true exact feelings all at the same time. lol

this had better be a joke. Otherwise, what a waste of research money.

There are practical usages but very limited. Using it as a bilingual translation app or device, yes. Maybe even potentially seeing it used with people who have speech impediments of some sort, or are mute.

That makes a bit of sense now.

Why not just make the physical act of bumping phones the new social norm for a Nokia user's greeting? Kind of like how CDC recommended people to bump elbows instead of shaking hands during swine flu. No programming needed for the devices that way.
