Nokia Glance Screen coming to all Lumia models except for Nokia Lumia 520 and Nokia Lumia 521

The Nokia Glance Screen is the screen that brings the always-on clock to a Nokia Lumia device, even when the phone is off; it is part of the Nokia Lumia Amber update and will be added to most Nokia Lumia models with the installation of the update. Actually, there are two models that will not be receiving the clock, and it is a shame considering that they are two of the hottest selling Nokia Lumia models...

Good for all... And I don't think 520-521 users need it that badly.. Its just a small feature so its okay...its bearable...:)

I strongly believe this is a way for Nokia to differentiate its models. I mean really? if you buy a more expensive model you can an always on clock, HAH!!!. Maybe their is a hardware limitation. However its cool that such a feature will come to pass as I use my phone as a clock. Windows phones are gearing up to be very strong competitors. C'mon developers we need you to make this platform win

Totally fine with me. With a single press of the unlock button you'd get the time, same as flicking your wrist to check on a wristwatch. If the 520 do get this, it would only eat up it's battery since that low price range couldn't put an amoled in it.

If it's to be available for 720 or even the 620, how come 520 is going to miss it? For all i know, they have similar, if not the same, hardware except for the type of screen and the size.

There's an answer in your question itself.

At least you don't get to buy an expensive piece of hardware to have that kind of function on your high end Windows Phones... Right in your face, Samsung!

It's is a pretty nice update!
Like others I'm not sure what kind of hardware limitations it could have over the 620.. They have the exact same hardware setups. I do understand the need to keep the lowest models with less features.

nice fragmentation update you say...

It's not a bad thing that a platform has fragmentation because its almost unavoidable.. All of the major platforms have some amount of fragmentation because they have to advance to higher stages.. Its a problem when fragmentation effects the majority of a platforms devices, and users, for the most part, aren't having a great experience.. With WP, even the lower end models, and some earlier models, that are subject to fragmentation still provide the user with a great experience.. This is what sets WP apart from some other platforms.. Windowsphone is a terrific, and major, alternative, and this is just one reason why..

That's a double standard. Fragmentation is ok when it's your platform, but not when it's another? I know, you might not be one of those who attack android for fragmentation, but most do using "Fragmentation" has if it was a bad thing. In my opinion, it's not. It helps offer a more diverse price range for consumers.
And Google's doing away with that, too (Remember how they didn't release a new version of android at I/O? Yeah, they just decided to skip carriers and manufactures and update core apps without having to change the version of android. A pretty big change, IMO).

How is it not compatible due to hardware restrictions? The 520 and 521 has the same processing power as the 620 and 720! And the Glance Screen doesn't look too processor-heavy.

battery drain i think, 520 and 521 got bad battery life, if got the glance screen, its battery life will become worse, and also it has lcd = drain more battery than amoled

Useless update. Why they cannot think of something more useful? For example, search button will search everything (contacts, apps, setting etc) rather than ONLY Bing search. Can anyone imagine how convenient this feature? What they do is double tap to unlock screen and waste battery and also good luck explaining pocket dialing.
