Nokia E73 Mode to be at T-Mobile June 16th?
Nokia E73 Mode to be at T-Mobile June 16th?
Back in February, we told you to expect T-Mobile to launch the Nokia E73 in June. We probably should have purchased some lottery tickets that day. T-Mobile is planning on launching the Nokia E73 Mode, a portrait QWERTY device that features Wi-Fi, 3G connectivity, and two different customizable homescreens-one for "work" and the other for "life". The handset resembles the E72 and according to the leaked screen shot of  T-Mobile's internal communications, June 16th will be the date of launch. From the focus on the "work" and "life" homescreens, it appears that the nation's fourth largest carrier will promote the device as a smartphone for business and play. The former will focus on the phone's calendar and e-mail applications to stay connected to work. The latter turns your E73 Mode into a fun device with apps downloaded from the Ovi Store. Pricing remains a mystery and we would expect the Nokia E73 to get an overseas launch as it replaces the E72 around the globe.

i think this OS would have been great if it was 2005

The kiddies won't be flocking to get this phone cause there's really nothing "cool" about it. It's for people who prefer function over style. So the so-called "datedness" of the OS is irrelevant. Like a BLACKBERRY, its more for people who need something other than eye candy.

This looks just like an upgrade to the e72. I agree with you that symbian is more versatile than the bb OS, but it's a shame that Nokia hasn't done anything to update the display on the e71, e72, and now, from what the pictures indiciate, the e73. If you put a bold 9700 and the e73 side by side, you are going to go for the bold 9700 based on visuals alone because of the higher resolution screen and better looks. Plus the bold 9700 also has a 1500mah battery, just like the e72, and an integrated messaging experience that is better than symbian's out of the box. I loved my e71 and was excited about the e72...until I found out it was pretty much the same phone with marginal upgrades. If the e73 is a e72 with a better resolution screen, then I am SO down to get it. Other than that, I'll just stick with my crappy battery life n900.

I would agree that the Blackberry is a better all-around choice. I'm just saying that the niche market for these types of phones aren't really the same as say a MyTouch or a Droid, so user expectations and what they need out of a phone are different.
