I think those close-ups are blurred because of grease on the exposed window covering the lens...
I have a far more basic (5MPx) version of the 'Full Focus' camera on the X3-02 I use as a standby device when I don't want the bulk or need the full features of my N900, which has a pretty damn good auto-focus camera with CZ lens.
The C3-02 is considerably better at 'catching the moment' which I believe is what phone-cameras are all about. Even without flash, the tiny aperture and sensor of the 9mm-thick X3-02 catches reasonable shots at dusk.
In daylight, It's hard to tell the quality from the N900.
However, with the N900 you have to set up the shot, part-depress the button to focus, and then hope the subject does not move.
With the X3-02 I just point and shoot and have a far better chance of bagging a shot. That's what 'Full Focus' is all about.
For those who want photographic excellence there's the N8. I'm sure other N-series devices with auto-focus will follow.
'Full-Focus' loses out on close-ups (no macro) but if I want to snap a document or busuiness card I shoot from approx 60cm at 5Mpx and crop in to the image for perfectly acceptable results (given enough light). The E7 with dual LED flash should have no such problems.

Look at the scratches on the orange N8.
These guys are slobs. I dont doubt the lens is greasy and dirty which will affect the pictures.
I cant beleive the paint just comes off like that. I will make sure I am extra carefulw ith my new N8.
N8 pictures put these pictures to shame.

I firmly believe that the fixed focus camera is the result of some market research which led to some jackass making the recommendation that EDoF be used instead of autofocus because research was telling them that people wanted to snap quick photos. When in fact, the market research jackasses probably didn't study whether or not people like the fact that their photos are in focus at any depth. Let Nokia argue this move all they want. The market will tell them they made a horrendous choice when they decided to move to EDoF. Mark my words, Nokia will switch back to autofocus sensors.
