umm.. Samsung is still the bigger manufacturer by total volume for their own phones.. + every iphone sold is really a samsung with an LG screen and a shiney apple logo. So if u go by that, samsung = apple+samsung.

Let\'s see how much samsung makes out of each icrap. ARM chipset manufacturing is not a fancy business. Apple picks samsung over TSMC, UMC just because samsung is a second tier cheap fab. That\'s the truth.

or it could be because they are using ever so slightly modified samsung hummingbird/ exynos chip designs.. which are the best in the industry. What do you think the A4, A5, and A6 chips are made from? lol

If samsung is second rate at chips.. who is better?? lol.

Apple processors are designed by a company called \'instrinsity\' (that got acquired by Apple). Design & fabrication are different things. Fabs take care of fabrication of chips. As a fab, Samsung is really s**tty - lol. TSMC, UMC, GF are the best fabs around. Intel as a fab is of course better than anybody else but they mostly make their own stuff.

You are right to a certain extent.

As a phone manufacture, yea thats what matters to Apple. I'm sure HTC, Samsung and Moto would love that number.

As a software company, I'm sure Google is happy with Android numbers. I'm sure Apple wouldnt mind have that number to go along with their OEM number.

IMO...Apple and Google both had a goal in mind and they are both are achieving it.

It's shown that way to illustrate that windows mobile and windows phone 7 combined have a share of 6.1% collected for Microsoft. Of which windows phone 7 without windows mobile, only represents 1.2% in comparison to the other platforms. It's not meant to confuse you if you know simple math; it's just meant to explain what microsoft's combined share is since windows mobile is still used as of today.

ALTHOUGH, I can only note that the chart indeed mistakenly ommits the "7" out of "windows phone 7" in the description, lol

I know this is what if....

What if Android was on only 1 phone? Then it it might be a lil different. Then an Android phone coulda been top OEM. Looks like HTC, Motorola or Samsung had a shot if Android was on only 1 phone.

What if the iPhone was on more carriers when it launched? Then it might be a lil different. Then the iPhone coulda had a bigger marketshare.
