Nexus Prime confirmed by Samsung lawyers

It seems that someone has gotten their hands on the firmware for the Nexus Prime, and now Samsung's lawyers are seeking to prevent that person from sharing the firmware in any way...

Wow. Lawyers are confirming devices now. Kinda scary.
You know, from the number of posts from people on here still holding out for the U.S. to get the GS2 on our carriers, is "a couple months" really too long to wait for the Prime? Or is Sammy to wrapped up with Apple (More lawyers. These guys have job security, don't they??) to get the Prime out on time, and a couple of months becomes like sometime in the Spring? I know this is supposed to be a monster of a device. Worth the wait? Let the rumor watch begin......

i wouldn't say that the nexus beats gs2 outright because
nexus IS clocked up to 1.5ghz but what does that mean in real world performance? more battery drain?
the gpu nexus prime will use an old clocked up powerVR 540 found on the gs1
same amount of ram
and here's the thing with the super amoled HD- it is a higher resolution screen in terms of pixels but than it's also based on pentile matrix. So I will reserve my judgement until I can compare it to the gs2 screen which uses a rgb stripe. All these pixels will require more power from the processors and battery.
I really hope google didn't rush ICS just so it can have an earlier launch date because than this could potentially be a really bad thing.
Last thing is that there is NO confirmation on when the nexus prime will be launched and to which carrier. In my area ATnT and T-mobile suCs so if it goes there than I can't get it.
So to my eyes I can't see why the gs2 needs to move over. Maybe your just mad that gs2 didn't go to Verizon.

im in the same boat. im not sure if i should get the SGS2 and XDA update it myself to ICS or wait for the prime.
prime has a higher rez screen
sgs2 has exynos where supposedly the prime doesnt.
sgs2 has 8mpx camera where the prime is supposed to be a 5mpx
gingerbread is stable... is ICS?
the prime will get updates about 5 years before carriers allow samsung to update sgs devices.. lol

The big draw to the Prime over the SGS2 for me is as follows:
Higher Res Screen.. 1280 will probably be the rage next year in screens.. I'd rather not buy old tech!
Camera.. I'd actually PREFER a 5mpx camera! Better photo quality, especially indoors.
Prime may do away with the capactive buttons, a new feature of ICS.. I want this! More screen is a good thing.
Updates on Prime... YES!

At least this ends the STUPID rumors that Motorola will build the next Nexus.
MOTOROLA CAN'T BUILD PHONES!

I feel like even if this launched tomorrow, major U.S. carriers wouldn't get it until 2012.

I think all the other Google phones were launched in the US first.

but the other google phones weren't launched during an apple s**t storm.

I skipped the Evo3D to compare with the Photon. I skipped the Photon to compare with the SGII. I think I'm skipping the SGII to see what happens with the Nexus Prime.

i think you should just skip the nexus prime. there will be something better in a few weeks after that anyways, but then again you probably should skip that one too......

Difference is that EVO3D and Photon were not enough of an upgrade over the Evo to make it worth it. SGII is tempting for the form factor if not the screen resolution. But the Prime is really looking like an upgrade on all levels over the Evo.

i will for Samsung's lawyers to revelead the specs for this phone,
18. andro (unregistered) posted on 26 Aug 2011, 14:29 0 0
I work in the mobile phone industry and have been talking to a Samsung rep in recently, the rep has seen and held the nexus prime and said its the same spec as the galaxy s2 but with a curved screen and metal frame back. Nexus prime will not allow memory card storage but will have ample memory
The phone does has ice cream os but does not features the super amoled plus hd screen as that according to the rep will be by the looks of it kept for the galaxy s3 in the start of 2012. Th rep also claimed the galaxy s2 will be getting an update to ice cream in october/november

so in the end Prime is not much better than the current Nexus S
rather it feels more like a Nexus S v2.0
with a dual core CPU at 1.5 instead of single core at 1.0
and a newer SAMOLED+ HD screen instead of the old SAMOLED+ screen
and probably 32GB storage instead of 16GB
i'm out, Nexus is great for the upgrades. but not having an microSD support is a major hold back for my taste, currently own the Nexus S and I hate it with passion due the lack of space.

seems like a totally new Nexus to me. what would you want it to have to make you push it to a next generation Nexus?
