My upgrade has been available since April 2009. I waited almost the entire year for the DROID. But right before the DROID was released, we learned about the Nexus One coming to verizon as well as the Incredible (or whatever it may be called at release). At this point i am pretty much waiting for the Nexus One to be released on verizon so i can buy it. But i feel like almost everyday the nexus one is having issues. I am one of those people who need multi touch and will use it a lot. Do you guys think the Verizon version would have the same issues? Anyone out there who has played with both phones and can give me a unbiased opinion, please let me know! I need some help!!! Thanks in advance

I was in your shoes not too long ago. I bought the Droid and haven't looked back. There are plenty of resources available that will help you enable multi touch on the Droid right now in a few areas where it's not currently supported and you can overclock the processor to 1Ghz if you feel you need the speed which in my opinion you don't. It's an extremely capable handset and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. Since it's release months ago there haven't been all these issues that keep popping up with the Nexus and as evidenced by this article, they're not all software related so that rules out easy fixes.

You also need to take into consideration that the N1 on Verizon is going to be sold through Google not Verizon. I highly doubt that you will be able to use a new every 2 to get the N1. They may also require you to be on a certain rate plan to get upgrade pricing.

you can get the N1 with an upgrade. The rate plan doesnt have to change as long as you have data..

I was also going to wait for nexus one but got antsy and just went with droid. I do not regret it for a moment. Here are the pros for the nexus one -faster -little bit sleeker looking And the cons -New issues being reported every day -only sold through google so i can't call verizon for support In my opinions the cons most definitely outweigh the pros. The droid has been a proven success in its first go around while the nexuse one reminds me more of the original storm with all these defects at release

9 times out of ten HTC equipment is garbage with buttons popping off, touch screen issues, poor connectivity, etc. Wait isn't that the same issues we are seeing in N1! so maybe it is not the N1's falt just poor build quality from HTC. Long live Droid!

Both the droid and nexus one are good devices .. and to tell you the truth this issue with multitouch is not obvious and if this video has not been posted no one would ever noticed it .. and a developer in Xda forums said that this issue is mostly software .. so no biggie

You should probably wait and get the Desire since it'll be a refined version of the Nexus One, almost identical looking. Oh...wait...Verizon won't be carrying that phone. Can I suggest, then, the relatively unattractive, iPhone-looking Incredible coming out god knows when?

The Droid is just as capable as the nexus why would still be waiting when you can get a great phone now. 1ghz is over rated but the Droid will still do it if you want

I have yet to have this problem... I wondering if people are just looking for issues the nexus one.

i was wondering the same thing...im also thinking if anyone has asked google about this to see if they will comment on it.

But does it really matter? Since the both points are still registered to be closing in/drifting away from each other. So in a sense, pinch to zoom still works. The only concern would be when you are playing a game where the buttons are close together and you need to tap them at the same time...

nexus one is over rated droooid

I agree. All phones have Their issues. It's just sad to see the n1 gettin picked on and blasted every other day. Maybe it was that particular device. Then again could the fact that they are using a screen an sensors from 2 devices that Didnt origially suppt multi touch have somethin to do with the issue.

Most of the problems with the N1 have been legit. The 3g connection issues were real, and customer service was poo. I think google knew the n1 had the multitouch issues which is why they originally disabled it, but because so many people have been begging for it and probing them, they just went ahead and enabled it anyway. I'd prefer multitouch with the issues above than nothing at all. Pinch to zoom is all most people use anyway

14. jhoots posted on 03 Mar 2010, 11:01

pinch to zoom is overrated.. but multitouch for games is awesome.. the only real useful aspect of it.

when you look at this app in the market, called multi touch visible test, right in the description it says "For many current Android phones, there will be lots of bad data including axis flipping and near-axis influence" .. the app sucks not the nexus one

16. crappypunk posted on 03 Mar 2010, 12:30

there's a better app called multitouch visualizer that says it will work for the nexus one.. try that one.. I don't have a nexus one, or I would try it, works fine on the droid tho
