Nexus 5 press render leaks

0. phoneArena 19 Oct 2013, 10:07 posted on

Here's something that will get your weekend off to a great start! A tweet has come in revealing what appears to be a press render of the Google Nexus 5; the most eagerly awaited handset on the planet will probably be unveiled sometime before the end of this month. If you have plans for next Thursday, keep them. As we told you on Friday, an invitation sent out by Google for an event on that date has nothing to do with any type of hardware announcement...

Looks bulky from this position...

It's slightly narrower than a Nexus 4. Hardly bulky for a 5" phone.

Wow that's jumping the gun months too early to have sold your phone. What have you been using for the last few months?

I liked the previous render with that beautiful purple landscape wallpaper. I have purple landscape wallpapers on all of my devices. They're beautiful!

Wait.. if it supports LTE, that means one can get it to work on Verizon, no?

No. Don't expect a Verizon version. The 5 doesn't have the bands to support Verizon LTE.

That's not what these article no Cnet said:

"Carrier support
FCC documents indicate that the Nexus 5 is equipped for penta-band HSPA+ and multiple LTE bands and should support all four major carriers in the US: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. This could mark the first time that Google is able to offer one device across all top-tier carriers."

Its because Verizon refuses to let google keep a vanilla version of android on the phone without tons of bloatware

So what's the difference between this and the nexus 4? Besides a minimal bump in megapixels? I'll get the lol out now to the responses.

4g LTE for one. The newest chipset and gpu for two. Bigger screen for three. Thinner phone for four.

Higher def. Screen also. And there's no megapixel bump. Its still 8MP

what are you on about megapixels? it's still 8.

bigger screen, narrower dimensions, thinner, higher screen res, faster, etc...

not much, but there never is in a next gen phone.

That render is missing the earpiece.

The earpiece is the round thing in the middle.. I think.. What else could that be. The camera's on the side.

Not sure , but in the picture the round thing looks like glass. I guess it could be the earpiece.

It's the earpiece. You can see it clearly in the article "Nexus-5-briefly-appears-in-Google-Play-for $349"

I am curious and not trolling here, but why couldn't they make it with minimal bezels at the bottom with software keys ?

Probably ergonomics. More accessible for the thumbs to reach the buttons.

You can also use the top and bottom bezel to rest your thumbs in landscape. I use it a lot on my Nexus 4 when watching movies or something.

But all manufacturers have those buttons at the very bottoms anyways, so what would be the difference here? Use the potention of the whole front of the device for display

Probably for looks. Taller makes the phone more sleek and slimmer. If they shrunk the bezels it would look short and fat like the G2 and Nexus 4.

Looks much better like this.

Some guy just came into my work with the lg nexus 5, this phone is awesome. He was looking for a universal leather case and I just happened to notice it. He gave me a little preview. :)
