Next iPhone concept render hints what Apple could do with that extra screen space in a new design

We got a nice piece of concept render work, which incorporates everything we've heard about the design of the next iPhone so far from various sources, off with the rumor that started circulating the other day about the 4" screen with 640x1136 pixels...

I live in Argentina, and with the ongoing customs embargo, it's impossible to acquire any iPhone. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can?

Unless you can figure out where to get a $50 case for it don't worry your self with an iphone get a android (high end). because its more customizable and they don't shatter if you drop it from 2 feet.

why not? screen is ready when you really need it

there is so much screen space left, why not make the 'home' button smaller and make it a hardware button like current devices, and update iOS so you have a bigger menu, now thats a phone then ! in my opinion i guess :)

If they do that, they'll really be ripping off Android

they have been taking ideas from other OS's anyways it doesn't make any difference

What could they do with more screen space??? we already know what larger screen renderings are capable of, Android has led this for how long now? Somehow it will be revolutionary that Apple is doing it. The IOS system is dated itself in not changing for four years, so that in itself that it is becoming more dynamic like its direct competition - even more so that it flies in the face of what Jobs upheld. Maybe it is natural evolution that Jobs passed and now changes are finally taking place re: design and software. Android has demonstrated what can be done the last three years as far as growth, potential and customer relations. Fit that in the extra screen space.

My God, can Apple release the phone before you start getting so angry about the fact that they are answering consumer's desire for a larger screen? Folks mock the iPhone for having a 3.5" screen and then when the rumor comes that the screen is going to get bigger, you complain that other manufacturers have been doing that for years. Pick your argument.

you support my one point. It has been done for years. We don't need a demo of what we can do with a slightly bigger screen.
Dancing to a differrent JeffdaBeat.

Don't be bothered by all the haters they find fault in every apple product no matter what. They know deep inside the iphone is a great device not saying Android isn't i own three of them but i don't go bashing one or the other like i've said before, there great in their own ways both platforms.

Every phone has it's merits. But I stand by my statement that with folks on this site...the iPhone could literally cure cancer and they will find some way to hate it. Be a real nerd and embrace technology no matter who makes it. Be critical. Be fair.

I completely agree. The biased hatred toward one side or the other is annoying.

The vitrual home button looks way out of place.

O WOW... a "Virtual" Home button. Such innovation. Keep up the good work fruits over at apple.
But on a serious note: For all phones, virtual buttons just seem like a wasted use for the extra screen room.

agree. Home button is the major problem for apple products for it gets really unresponsive as time goes by. It malfunctions some other time. But having a larger screen for the home button? what i think is that it will be absurd. it's more acceptable to have a touch sensitive key than combine it with the screen.

liquid metal and virtual home button are totally out
14. GuiltyBystander (Posts: 199; Member since: 05 Mar 2012)
They will probably keep the physical home button and just make it smaller or maybe even make it a capacitive home button.
It would be stupid to add 0.5" to the screen only to make the home button virtual, i'm guessing that iOS will have a major overhaul and they will probably add widgets.

Virtual Home button will be only a backward compatibility tool for old apps, othervise you don't see it in regular usage - this is a concept for buttonless iPhone, because it was very indicative if the rumors sre correct - extra 176 pixels on 329 PPI is exactly spaced for classic Home button. An elegant solution for fragmentation problem by introducing larger screen and wide format.
Sorry for not making it clear enough.
Thanks PA for publishing this!

A buttonless design and a larger screen would allow more gesture support for closing apps and multi-tasking. People love an interactive user experience. I remember when the first iPhone came out and everyone was asking if they zoom just by pinching their fingers.
Do other manufacturers have gesture support? Some. Just like how multi-touch has been around, but Apple will make the splash with this feature because they will actually advertise this feature heavily IF it makes it to the new model.
