Hahaha.. You see? That's why I don't buy electronic products - unless they are sufficiently future-proof.

You should have done the same, mate. After a lot of research of course.

The iPhone 4 is relatively future proof - if we ignore Android for a second there - since it's a given that Apple will neither increase the iPhone 5's screen size nor the screen resolution. The first because they won't hurt that 326 ppi - and the second because that would be too soon after the iPhone 4. The delay of the iPhone 5 also means that the value of a mid 2010 iPhone 4 has been increased since more time will pass until it becomes obsolete.

That is of course in the narrow context of iOS smartphones.

When it comes to Android - currently no device is as future proof as the iPhone 4 was at it's time - since every 4 - 6 months comes another high end Android phone which eats the previous one for lunch spec-wise.

I like a good Apple rumor next guy, but this is getting ridiculous. These articles are beginning to look like the same article reworded over and over. With anonymous sources that are always a different person but may as well be me every time. And when they run out of ways to reword the article they just post what they think the next model will be. And then reword that in a later post and call it a new rumor from an "unspecified" source. Smdh.

Forget that, the iPhone 5 will forgo the entire idea of a physical phone body and be condensed into the iChip- a revolutionary device which will use the body's natural memory storage, processing power, conducive properties and susceptibility to complete neurological takeover.

But Apple's autocorrect will still suck. They'll NEVER figure that s**t out. :D

iPhone 5 will never steamroll the Droid marketplace simply because Apple takes so long to update their phone (notice I said it in the singular), while newer droids come out every few months with many manufacturers trying to one up each other. Look at how far behind the iP4 is now compared to the 4G Droids (even the Revolution). If Apple ever hopes to catch up they will have to re-think their R&D program. And add something as basic as Flash to it.

Maybe that will happen after Jobs is gone...

iPhone is only behind in LTE. It has the same specs for the most part as the 4g phones. Flash isn't something Apple can't do. They choose not to. If people want flash they won't buy iPhones. So far not the case. We'll see how iPhone 5 does. I'm going to predict no contest.

Dude.. NO WAY the iPhone 5 will "steamroll" the CURRENT line of Android phones - and not just those which will be in 2 - 3 months from now. Apple is currently @ 3rd world war with Samsung - their chip supplier - and that means that there is no way that Samsung is going to give them anything they don't already have - and that is dual core 1GHz procs - which is lower than what we currently have today in Android.

As for smoothness - Yeah iOS is smooth, but it's also a very simplistic OS. Very limited in it's capabilities. I have seen videos of the SGS2 and even the Evo 3d - both of them - esp the Evo - running very graphically intensive OS tweaks and modifications - and they were as smooth - and faster - than the iPhone 4. Sure, they pack much better hardware - but I'd rather have good hardware to run graphically intensive OS than have mediocre hardware to run a simplistic OS.

If you like simplicity and limitations, Taco - go ahead - use an old Nokia phone. It's also as "Magical" as the iPhone in that it can also call people and send and receive text.

Wow you clearly know nothing. Did you ever see the benchmark tests for the A5 chip graphics. It leaves anything android has out now in the dust. Second living wall papers are not important to me in a phone. If you like childish stuff then stick with android. Games on the iPhone btw are light years ahead of anything in android market.

let me just quote something here:

"If you like childish stuff then stick with android."

"Games on the iPhone btw are light years ahead of anything in android market."

LOL

And taco, NO WAY 1 Ghz dual core processor is going to be better than a 1.1 Ghz Dual core processor - or a 1.2 Ghz dualcore processor - or you know - a 1.5 Ghz dualcore processor - which is what we will see in 2 - 3 months.

The "benchmarks" which you're talking about are only on the iPad 2 (since you know it's the only Apple device with the A5) - and they were compared to other Tablets there - most of whom (shock!!! omg!!) also run a 1Ghz dual core processor.

So yeah - wow - clearly YOU know nothing.

i believe that it wont be an ipad 3, i think apple will offer an ipad 2 option with hi-res display for extra pay of course. That would not be as ridiculous as ipad 3 release, and quite a good option for ipad users, as we all know that base model price is affordable for everyone, and it will be just like macbook pro 15 now, if you want hi-res display, pay some extra.

How many cores are in a device seem to matter not a little bit as to how smooth it runs. I have yet to find a W7 phone that isn't smooth, but they are all single core. Both the "X2" and the HTC sensation are smooth and almost amusingly fast, but so is the HTC Inspire and the Samsung Charge on single core. But the two times I played with the "Atrix" I wasn't impressed. Not bad, quick and smooth, but not that much better than single core. The iPhone now is a very smooth device, and if #5 has dual core, I am sure it will be designed to make great use of it. Bet it will benchmark test really well. Quad-core??? What version of what OS will make that great of use of quad-core in the next two years???

I've read all your posts in this thread and you're just ignorant through and through.

1. Benchmark tests rely on SOFTWARE TWEAKS as well as hardware. A Droid, released in December 2010, can surpass an iPhone 4 in a benchmark test when given the right software and kernel.

2. "Looking forward to iPhone 5 steam rolling the competition. If it gets on T Mo and sprint as well it will be a dark day for fandroids. " Just like Verizon, right? I'm in a VZW store 40 hours a week, and Android sales ALWAYS surpass iPhone sales. Could it be my location? Of course. But your posts are so empty...

3. "Wow you clearly know nothing. Did you ever see the benchmark tests for the A5 chip graphics. It leaves anything android has out now in the dust. Second living wall papers are not important to me in a phone. If you like childish stuff then stick with android. Games on the iPhone btw are light years ahead of anything in android market."

First, don't start an argument with "you clearly know nothing." Everyone knows at least, something, including you (God forbid). If you like childish stuff stick with Android? HA. Apple THRIVES on its childish OS. It's so easy, my 3 year old cousin can use an iPad better than my dad. iOS is simplistic, and thus, IMO, somewhat childish. It has to be this way if it wants to appeal to such a wide market as being the easiest out of the box software available.

Gaming on an iPhone is better? Meet the XPeria Play, which, as I'm sure you know, is a PSP and a phone in one. If gaming is a top priority for your mobile needs, choose Android and get this phone. What about GameLoft, EA Mobile, Activision... just to name a few. They all entered the mobile game via iOS and now they offer equal support for both.

Please, don't just attack people for the sake of argument. be informative, and be courteous. Otherwise, you end up with the rapport you have now.

The iPad 3 sounds like it's worth waiting for, but I need to know what the cameras are gonna be like. Don't plan on using my tablet as a camera, but if that's what is currently in my hand when a picture moment is happening, I want that picture to be much better than what the iPad 2 is capable of right now. The Android tablets have not lived up to my expectations at all. Either they have 7" screens, camera quality is crappy, no expandable memory, or just overly priced. I really want to go Android on my next tablet but these manufactures have got to quit BS-ing on the hardware.
