whatever they do with iPhone it needs to have a bigger screen, I recently switched from my iPhone 4 to android and I like the android phone, but I would love another iPhone just with a 4in screen. if it has the same screen I think they would loose sales..

I totally agree with you! The other thing is battery life! No way I'm going back to suffering like I did with the 3GS!

I feel like apple needs to make a bigger screen for sure and improve battery life but i also think they shouldn't make it any thinner because i think the iphone 4 had just the right amount of thickness.

It means they'll probably raise the cost. Can you say $399 on contract for 32gb? Not worth it by any stretch.

Thinner screen sounds like it also could be more fragile. I know there are rumors of the metal back housing returning, but thinning out the screen seems to detract from the overall strength of the phone.

The iPhone 5 will silence you fandroids completely with a polished, smooth, fluid device; qualities that have YET to appear in ANY of Android's 4654768465 handsets.

the only reason iPhone is smoother is because it has no overlay software on it, take the overlay (motoblur, HTC sence, Samsung Touch Wiz) off and the phones run much faster and much smoother than iPhone. don't get me wrong I still like my iPhone sometimes better then my Samsung Infuse, but if apple continues to control it's owners and tells them what they can and cannot do they will continue to loose sales to android.

Hmm, I beg to differ. Does the Galaxy Tab 10.1 ring a bell? It currently doesn't have Samsung Touch Wiz on it, yet it still lacks the fluidity of the iPad. Android just needs to work on aesthetics and smoothness. Until then, Android will always be the unpolished underdog, no matter what features they add.

Since you started this...smooth is great, but is that all you got? Its a great device but that only takes you so far. What can I do with I after I'm done ohh-ing and ahh-ing about how smooth it is? You're still locked into iTunes, period! Unless you are willing to void your warranty and jailbreak your phone. I can download all kinds of launchers that make my Droid X just as smooth. What do I do when I get bored looking at the same 20 blocks on an iPhone? Sure, I could change the wallpaper, but my mom can do the same on her LG 8350.

The iPhone has no widgets, no flash, no customization, no SMS ringtone customization(I think), no custom ROMs, no side loading apps, no ability to survive a four foot drop in one piece, no live wallpaper, no other form factors, and basically no personality. Its popularity and some people's need to conform is what will make it the best selling device on the planet, not because it's better.

As for the polished look of the iPhone...if glossy icons is what makes a great phone too you, then you have the right device in the iPhone. But some of us prefer function, and when it comes to features, Android mops the floor with the iPhone. Until the iPhone can load non-iTunes apps without jailbreaking, it will forever be a FEATURE phone! Face it, iOS is outmuscled by Android in just about every respect. The ip4 has the best screen, camera and a simple UI, which makes it a good phone. But your iPhone is so closed and locked down, it will alway be the true underdog.

same tired arguments. most people can care less about custom roms, live wallpaper (really is this even a feature worth talking about?) etc. By the way you can jailbreak your iPhone and get all these things if you really want them and still have the smoother experience and better battery life. I don't jailbreak mine because I don't care about that childish stuff on my phone.

And to conform? Let's see last study Android had 38% of the smartphone market compared to about 26% for the iPhone. So wouldn't you be the conformist? That's such a dumb argument. Apple until recently had under 10% of the pc market and yet had a loyal fanbase from people who enjoyed their products. How would these people be followers or "sheep" when 90 of people were using windows. Seems Apple users are the free thinkers to me.

A sheep is someone who thinks what they're told to think and does what they're told to do. A sheep doesn't necessarily have to be part of a majority. People use Windows because of its wide range of uses, and because it's a useful platform that is easily compatible with everything. People use Apple computers if they want to look superior in the coffee shop or if they are into graphic design. And with the iPhone, even though it's no longer on top, it's still the phone pushed by the media, movies, shows, etc. You don't really see Android mentioned anywhere, and if it is, it's for a specific product in a commercial.

So people who use pc and android are free thinkers but people who use Apple are sheep even though Apple users are in the minority? You see how that makes no sense?

"people use windows because of it's wide range of uses"

What exactly is it that a Mac pc can't do?

You're a hopeless troll, but what's sad is you think you're intelligent.

A PC is far more compatible with various legal and business software, and much more customizable than a Mac. You can get a PC from whatever company for whatever price you want, optimized for whatever work or play you need.

You don't understand the definition of sheep, and you don't want to understand. It's actually quite hilarious how you've changed your tune, Taco. Used to be that all you talked about was how many people use iProducts; now you're trying to recast yourself as a rebel against the crowd. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I'm saying that to show you how your argument about sheep is dumb and pointless. Sheep are followers and so would go to the most popular product. If android is winning in market share how could iPhone users be sheep?

A pc is more cutomizable? Gtfo here. Did you know you can now custom order a Mac? My god youre a dips**t

No, sheep do not automatically go to the most popular whatever. If you were right then cults would not exist.

And the argument over what's more customizable comes down to the total number of permutations you can get. Windows wins that one hands down.

Saw you coming a mile away taco. Isn't the "smoothest experience" argument even more tired? You can think of it as childish all you want and I'm not saying you should want it. But why not offer it seeing as though it is very popular? Sure you could get it but again since Apple wasn't allowed to send you to jail for it, they now just void your warranty if you do. And that LG 8350 I was talking about has a better battery life than the iPhone too, does that make it a better phone?

And I never said everyone with an iPhone is a conformist, I just said that's one reason why it's so popular. I recognize there are many iOS users who just love the tech but there are many people who want it just because...it's an iPhone! This is an actual reason given to me by customers. They never said anything about the "smooth experience" or better battery life. It was just because it's an iPhone. If you don't like that, tell your fellow iOS users to stop giving that as a reason.

I am part of that loyal fan base of Mac computers you are talking about. Most people buy PCs because it's what they are used to and it's cheaper. Two completely different senarios here, so give me a better analogy.

I got tired of viruses and spyware. And there was no way I was going to Vista or backwards to XP. And my Mac has outlasted every PC I've ever owned or used, even my work computer. It's easy to use and I can get sw from downloads.com for free. Had Apple applied the same philosophy to their phones as they do their computers, I would probably own one right now.

That is the same thing. People like iPhones because they're stable, easy to use, built to last. Theyre absolutely using the same philosophy. Thevthings that are limited are for stability and battery life for the most part.

No I have to disagree there. They limit their phones and tablets to maximize profits. There is only one place you can go on those devices to get content...iTunes. It's a good strategy from a business point of view, but imagine if they applied that closed ecosystem to their Mac lineup where you have to buy iwork and cant download Open Office, iMacs would be useless.

Well 1. What you're doing is stealing because those are pay for programs. However if you do want to steal then you can do the same on the iPhone by jailbreaking it. You can get all apps and music for free.

Mac has an app store as well you're just circumventing it.

Lol at Macs would be useless if you couldn't steal software.

Well 1. It sounds like you have never heard of download.com and didn't take the time before posting to check it out. Since it's obvious that you are not as technically inclined as you pretend to be let me explain. Download.com is basically the downloads tab on CNET.com. CNET.com is a tech review site where they review cellphones, TVs, cars computers, etc, etc. They review both free and paid programs, and they provide links for downloading these programs, hence the name. They even have a whole section dedicated to mac computer, and these people called "Developers" write all kinds of programs just for mac computers. I know, it weird right? Now, since Open Office is a free application, I didn't steal anything. These "developers" gave it to me to use on my computer.

Next time you might wanna do a little research before you call someone a thief. It helps to make you look like you know what your talking about.

No widgets?! No customization?! No SMS Ringtones?!? Are you that inept???? OBVIOUSLY you don't know a thing or two about the capabilities of an IPhone and what it can do once it's jailbroken! For your info, you CAN add widgets on custom themes....wait a minute, did I say CUSTOM?? Last I checked that is a form of customization! As far as Itunes is concerned, we CAN get our music absolutely free! And as for the apps, we can get ALL of our apps for free as well. Last I checked, you you still have to pay for some of your apps AFTER you root your paper weight...err...droid.

Why is it that every iPhone fan assumes that I know nothing about your little false idol just because I like Android better? Not only do I know about your little phone, I also have a jail broken iPad! Also, i've been a technician for several years selling and fixing Iphones, Blackberries, and Droids. Oppps...Didn't see that coming did you? So obviously i know a little more than you think about about all cellphone OSs and OBVIOUSLY you know now what happens when you make assumptions, right? You make an a** of you and sumption, LOL! I know you USED to be able to get all apps for free before the app that gave you that ability was removed from Cydia. If its back, that sucks because now you're pirating apps from developers who worked hard on that SW, and now they have no way to make up the lost revenue. At least a free app on Android has ads, so that way they can get paid for their work.

I still stand behind my statement, the iPhone HAS NO CUSTOMIZATION unless you are willing to void your warranty and jailbreak it. My Android comes with everything I need to make my phone unique which is important to me. If you unlock you phone and look at the screen, what info can you get from just that homescreen??? The how many notifications you missed, see the time? You can't do anything from your home screen except pick which app you want to open. If you have the ATT iPhone, you probably don't even see any bars! I got music, stocks, weather, my last SMS, traffic updates, news updates, an email widget and pictures of my smoking hot wife all WITHOUT rooting it! Now that's customization!

And that whole "paper weight" comment was kinda cute. But I tell you what...let's loose our phone cases, go outside and both drop our phones on the concrete from waist high. Let's see whose really walking around with a paper weight after that. After you pay your deductible and get you new iPhone, come back here and pick on somebody who doesn't know there stuff, because you just got seriously owned!

Now, if I were a true sheep I would deny that my phone has any problems whatsoever, and was absolutely perfect and that any alternative to it was a total piece of s**t and... oh wait, I just realized that I'm describing you. Funny how I always get the two acts mixed up.

I recognize when there's flaws with any product I use, little annoyances. Whether I like a product depends on whether my overall experience trumps those small annoyances. The answer is... you guessed it, Motoblur, especially now, provides a great experiences despite the flaws it used to have.

That being said....both operating systems have their pros and cons. The new iOS 5 might have some improvements but so will Ice Cream Sandwich. I'd personally rather have something open source and not so controlled.

Sorry - no bigger screen on this one. Too early to upgrade resolution - and very un-Apple to lower ppi.

Btw after trying Ubuntu (It's Awesome) I also understand that Apple didn't invent that Mac OS X software as well. Instead of buying an extremely overpriced macbook\pro\air - just install ubuntu on your laptop - even if it's far from being a hardware beast. If you really want you can install a Mac OSX theme for free.

The ONLY thing that Apple did do very right by themselves in this regard - and one to which I am yet to find and alternatives is iWork...

The reason the iPhone and Macs are shown on TV and in the Movies is because apple pays for the product placement.

Honestly I applaud google for the effort they've put into android but I think it would be a lot better if they had control of the phones they put their software on...no?
