Next Apple iPad coming in September with new Apple iPad mini right behind?

A published report on Monday cites sources from the upstream supply chain for the latest on the next iteration of both the Apple iPad and the Apple iPad mini; the report states that the fifth-generation Apple iPad will be introduced in September, and with upstream suppliers all ready for the production of the 9.7 inch slate, no changes to the specs are expected...

There will be no iPad mini successor, consider the profit margin drive Apple down south...
even if they did, they won't release 16gb version...

In business, there is a huge learning curve in making a new device. Over time, the suppliers, the assembler(s), Apple all learn how to take out 10% to 30% of the cost.
Most of the savings comes from reducing waste, greater efficiency, engineering tweaks, minor changes in the assemblying process, etc. The same is true for building a car -- by the last model year, the automaker has learned how to make the highest quality car at a low cost.
Going back to Apple, if they keep the current format of the mini, and upgrade the guts of the device like a faster processor, more memory, a better battery, etc for the iPad Mini 2 ... their profit margin ACTUALLY increases, other things being equal.
I wouldn't hold my breath for retina display for the iPad Mini -- I have the Mini and IMO portability is the stronger seller point than retina display. Also, it took Apple 3 years to get retina display on the iPad due to battery life issue -- users want 10-hour life on a single recharge. While the PPI isn't the greatest on the iPad mini, it's more than acceptable for the education market that Apple is targeting.

I like Apple's design but their pride made the iPhone look so small and so last generations behind. At least the iPad and iTouch are fine.

Still going too look the same. Like the rumor say iPad 5th gen will have the iPad minI looks. So no REAL CHANGES.

The weight saving on the iPad 5 using the mini's structure is going to be a huge game changer!!! Looks like were no going to see eye to eye on this issue.
I didn't buy the first gen. iPad because it was a bit heavy; I did buy a refurbished iPad 2 because it was thinner and lighter. If you hold the iPad in your arms for some time, your arms will get tired. I may upgrade to the iPad 5 if the thinness and weight savings are that significant over the retina display iPad 4. Right now my iPad 2 still works flawless -- I am on the leaderboard on lots of the games that I play. As much as I love the iPad Mini, I enjoy the bigger display on the iPad for gaming -- but, that is a personal preference.

I actually want to get a iPad 5. Once I get my MacBook Pro (I'll need it for med school), I'll be one happy camper.

I'm rocking the 3, and ready to Craigslist it and upgrade Smurf. I offered it to my fiancé, and the look I got said it all lol.

I actually can't wait for the iPad 5. I was very impressed with the iOS 7 announcement, aside from the neon-like colors, and really thought they made some great improvements. Though I would still keep Android for my phone, I wouldn't mind having an iPad for media consumption, because the iPad's ecosystem is much better than Android tablets at this point.
Also, the iPad 5 will hopefully bring really ground breaking performance, it'll need it now that it's finally multitasking. Quad core Apple Swift and PowerVR Rogue, anyone?

Another month, another Digitimes prediction.
They've been saying the iPad would come out "soon", every month since April.
