I think the Env touch will still beat this.

the env touch has many problems i think the rogue will outsell the env touch and give lg a run for their money

um no I have that phone and it sucks compared to this one. trust me

I'm very wary of buying any Samsung after their rather rough history. Juke, Glyde, Sway...the last good phone they put out was the A930 which was mid level and very reliable, but nothing fancy by any means. LG / RIM all the way.

Correction, last good normal phone for VZW... Samsung isn't the No. 2 cellphone provider becuase their VZW devices suck. They make a good product. I had an i730 for 2 years... not a single problem.

Your mama sucks.

24. pittwrestler125 posted on 27 Sep 2009, 10:53

the alias 2 was a pretty good phone and it was a normal phone. Samsung is beginning to make better quality phones compared to what they have made in the past.

5. aeiouphone posted on 30 Jul 2009, 14:23

Sorry forgot about the Alias/Alias2 as well...decent phones.

7. VZWProductTestr posted on 30 Jul 2009, 16:54

This is a very cool phone IMO. I have had a chance to handle it and I will say in terms of feel and design of the keyboard and screen it reminds me alot of the PCD XV6800 (but a lot slimmer). The back of the phone has got a rough feel to it somewhat like the Venus and UI will be a lot more familiar to Omnia users than anyone who owns a Glyde or similiar device. This was a job well done by Samsung

8. EraserXIV posted on 30 Jul 2009, 17:05

@VZWProductTestr I'm pretty excited for this phone, but I'm not sure if I should hold out for the Chocolate Touch. One particular thing about the Chocolate Touch that I'm interested in is the WiFi and the Flash UI. As far as you know, will the Chocolate Touch keep the WiFi and Flash UI from the BL40, or will it be stripped from the device? Also, do you have any info on the Chocolate Touch like approximate release date? I'm not sure how much longer I can wait to upgrade!

10. EraserXIV posted on 30 Jul 2009, 17:17

Oh yeah and I'm also interested in the standalone Google Maps GPS app that I saw in the video for the BL40, will that be kept or will GPS be locked down to VZW Navigator like most other phones? Also, how does the Rogue compare in thickness to the enV Touch?

12. VZWProductTestr posted on 31 Jul 2009, 00:56

flash will remain on the phone. Wifi is unfortunately still being debated (believe you me, I have been a big proponent of keeping it). We are shooting for a early November launch. thanks

13. VZWProductTestr posted on 31 Jul 2009, 00:57

Google Maps will be available from the VCAST app store. GPS will be unlocked but only for VCAST app purchases ( believe it or not, many of the apps are one time purchases and not subscriptions)

14. VZWProductTestr posted on 31 Jul 2009, 00:59

Oh and the Rogue will be slightly thicker than the Touch. I did send some side by side pictures to PhoneArena of the Rogue next to the Glyde so I am sure those will go up soon.

15. EraserXIV posted on 31 Jul 2009, 11:12

Whoa thanks man for all that info! I wasn't expecting you to answer all my questions, you've been surprisingly helpful! Oh and also, will the Rogue also feature the VCAST app store with the unlocked GPS for google maps? I've heard indications that the VCAST app store is only for smartphones... does that mean the Chocolate Touch will debut as a smartphone (and therefore require the $30 a month data plan)?

16. VZWProductTestr posted on 31 Jul 2009, 22:29

Glad to be of service. VCAST app store will be available on the Rogue but NOT at launch. The app store will be released later on and the Rogue will be able to do over the air software flashes for this. Google Maps will be a part of this. VCAST app store will NOT be available for Smartphones and will only be available for phones that run "Dashboard". Nor the Chocolate Touch or Rogue will be classified as a smartphone.

17. VZWProductTestr posted on 31 Jul 2009, 22:31

Also, the Rogue layout is very similiar to the XV6800 Smartphone in terms of device and screen size, and the keyboard is almost identical. But its not nearly as bulky

23. jjyhur posted on 18 Sep 2009, 23:05

Hi I had a few questions. What exactly does it mean the vcast app store will not be available at launch? i just got the samsung rogue today and was upset to learn that google maps does not work. will google maps definitely be available on the samsung rogue? If so, how soon?

11. souleater93 posted on 30 Jul 2009, 20:02

i wish it was a little slimmer and came in a better color choice or can change the back cover like the rumor 2.

18. tripleh1996 posted on 31 Jul 2009, 22:51

looks really cool, the camera better be as good as the env touch's

19. TorCoolguy posted on 04 Aug 2009, 22:24

ProductTester, I know you probably have to keep this classified or something, but in a few weeks I should be up for a new phone, and I really want to like this phone and be able to get it because I really wanted the first one. But on the price issue..is this going to be like when the Blackberry Storm came out with a 299.99 price or be around the EnV 3 which is 79.99 with the 2-year contract? Because i'm looking for a touch screen phone, but which one out right now (Dare, Voyager even though I think it may be near it's end, EnV Touch, Versa) would you suggest? Or maybe something like the new Alias 2?

26. pittwrestler125 posted on 27 Sep 2009, 10:59

ive had the alias 2 and it was a great phone loved how the keys changed depending on what you were in. It is def a good phone for the money only thing i didnt like was no flash on the camera that was the only complaint i had with it

20. FizzyWizzyZOw posted on 17 Aug 2009, 18:49

Will the rogue have a "virtual" keyboard? What do you think will be the price will be around??

21. FizzyWizzyZOw posted on 18 Aug 2009, 09:39

WAIT, why on the upcoming phones, the rogue is not at the top any more? Will it still be out by august?!

22. philsphan123 posted on 21 Aug 2009, 21:50

ThiS phone looks great! Is the touchscreen resistive or compulsive??? If the screen size is bigger than the env touch than I'm buying this phone!!
