New patent applications reveal the future for the camera on the Apple iPhone
0. phoneArena 01 Oct 2012, 05:27 posted on
Apple has filed some new patent applications that give us a look at what the future might hold for the camera on the Apple iPhone; some patents deal with editing you can do after a shot is taken to improve a picture or make it funny while other patents are for improvements in the picture taking process...

These ideas are nice but...
WHY MUST YOU PATENT IT APPLE!!! WHY!!!

They have to do it and sue because they have lost and continue to lose their hold on the smart phone market. Year after year they give isheep users the same old design and technology. 4 inch tiny screen please...my galaxy s3's 4.8 inch super amoled HD display blows away the iphones non HDscreen!!! You know the people that continue to buy the iphone will always buy them no matter what else is out there, even with other technologies already above and beyond what apple is offering!!!!

Litigation is the next part. How on earth can they a) file for these patents b) get these patents granted?

F##kin' Rotten Apple should be put out of business!
These gimmicks existed in hundreds of softwares before Apple's creations. What the hell? How can apple patent anyhting that they didnt invent?
Next they are going to sue adobe and every other app maker that makes a living of developing photo/video apps! Now we uunderstand the true purpose of Apple's app ecosystem. Let others make good stuff, then copy/patent it and sue the smaller ones to put them out of business!
BURN APPLE BURN!
If apple is granted this system then the patent act is load of BS!

They don't patent the software itself.. but the process of using it in their products lol. Loopholes ftw? Like patenting curved screen internal speakers.. so in other words using tech from Samsung.. and patenting the use of the screen in a certain way preventing the creators from ever being able to use THEIR tech in that particular way.
35. PhenomFaz (Posts: 1040; Member since: 26 Sep 2012)
Except its not their tech!
Talk about actually making tech...I bet Apple employees cant even make babies of their own...I bet they call up Samsung to send the required 'tools' for that too!
A bunch of A-holes is what Apple is!
37. Jobes (Posts: 364; Member since: 27 Oct 2011)
Not their tech but when has Apple been a respectful company? All they do is litigate lol.. its redic.. buy other companies shiz.. call it their own.. patent stuff that requires other companies tech.. and call it a day.

This is plain s**t. Time to boycott and kick this company's ass.

You might think the "badge" feature is novel and interesting, but it is not new!! I've seen it back in some presentations from blackberry 10, and it sure wasn't new by then...

"a picture that is taken is frozen on the screen if the photographer is happy with it. A second photo can then be used to replace the first image in certain spots, if the two are basically the same pose."
Isn't this the same as the "Best Face" feature on the Note 2? Where if two pictures are basically the same and you can switch the face so it looks perfect? Again, nice job Apple, copy, edit & patent. A**wipes...
7. No_Nonsense (Posts: 825; Member since: 17 Aug 2012)
Or a scalado developed tech? Cinemagraph or something. I forgot the name.
29. bayusuputra (Posts: 931; Member since: 12 Feb 2012)
don't you realise that apple is patenting this after seeing that feature on the Note 2?
Apple Engineer 1: "oh, what a neat feature the note 2 has!"
Apple Engineer 2: "yeah, man, and it's not yet patented.."
Tim Cook: "you stupids. if it's neat, not patented, and the competitors have it, then patent it!"

Nokia's CEO: Location, location, location
Apple's CEO: Litigation, litigation, litigation.

sounds like the same tech samsung is already using in their phone. snap multiple pix real quick and auto fix "blink" that way by the device copy/pasting between pix for you.
Like always, Apple wants to patent what others are already using.
40. gallitoking (Posts: 4571; Member since: 17 May 2011)
others are using but have not patented.. right?
42. bayusuputra (Posts: 931; Member since: 12 Feb 2012)
so that doesn't mean you can patent it..
prior art, dude.. prior art..
unless there is money prior to filing..

This is getting rediculous!
Apple is really "derailed" this time!
Somebody stop them before they patend the inhale-exhale (breathing) proccess!!!
11. ddeath (Posts: 145; Member since: 14 Apr 2012)
Here we go again, taking something that exists for years, change it and then patent it. Red eyes eliminations? That idea isn't even new! And the picture thingy? Thought Note 2 has it already? Well done. Disgusting i should say. And if the U$ patent office$ allow that patents, then it is damn embarrassing.

Apple did not disappoint me in this area. They really filled more technology that other companies are using.
15. MISTER.H (banned) (Posts: 167; Member since: 03 Aug 2012)
They are patening which does not belong to them. How dare they! What is wrong with the US courpted system. How sick.
16. No_Nonsense (Posts: 825; Member since: 17 Aug 2012)
Well, that's why I'd prefer European or Asian OEMs (although I agree Android/WP are made by US cos). Top preferences go to Nokia, Jolla and RIM.

In fairness to tue USPTO, this is an /application/ not a granted and approved patent.
But it's still baloney and should be thrown out
18. aokde (Posts: 184; Member since: 09 Jul 2012)
I think apple will patent the act of patenting so when someone patents a patent apple will sue because they patented patinting! Patenciption :O
21. nofear (Posts: 146; Member since: 22 Jun 2012)
This technology and feature is already existing in most canon powershot camera and DSLR model. Nothing new!
23. krapanss (Posts: 10; Member since: 17 May 2012)
Do you remember when Lumia 920 was announced and when they announced camera capabilities with all thoes lenses. I do remember that one of the option was when you take a picture and suddenly some one jumps at front of your camera. One of the lense made it possible to capture multiple images for 4s and then combine all of them to make on picture and all moving object within thoes 4 seconds were posible to delete them.
This is exactly what apple is trying to patent but very similar.
24. ddeath (Posts: 145; Member since: 14 Apr 2012)
Yeah, everyone is trying to improve on each others ideas and makes things better for everyone. But 'innovative' Apple patents ideas that exist, twist it around, and stifle innovations by demanding payouts for them! How deep have they fallen!
33. No_Nonsense (Posts: 825; Member since: 17 Aug 2012)
Me thinks you don't know the way Apple and USPTO work.
39. Googlethis (Posts: 168; Member since: 05 Jul 2012)
it will go through just like every other patent they file goes through. god forbid that some one actually read what they are trying to patent in the patent system.
27. InspectorGadget80 (Posts: 5166; Member since: 26 Mar 2011)
THIS IS COMPLETE BULL SHYT. Please stop posting stupid a$$ articles bout Apple's dumb useless patents and aren't these already on digital camera? U CAN'T take good pics with cell phones their not like DSRL camera. Besides every manufactuere DON'T HAVE TO PATENT this stupid thing
31. AndroidShiz (Posts: 144; Member since: 08 Nov 2011)
Apple is the new Rim / Blackberry. Eventually people will see that the phone doesn't really change and the things they keep patenting are pretty kafka-esc.
36. maxican16 (Posts: 361; Member since: 29 Sep 2011)
Not sure how they would get this granted. Patents are for hardware/software ideas that are not considered obvious. Putting pre-existing ideas into a smartphone doesn't make it new or not obvious. Really hoping the USPTO gets this one right.

"Apple has filed seven new patent applications..."
Of f*cking course they have. That's not news anymore, it's standard practice for them. Apple is trolling and abusing the patent system and it's 67 degrees outside on a Tuesday.

Apple is patenting little s**t.. Just look at all the features on the Galaxy Note 2 Samsung can patent such as best faces, multi tasking screens, the S-pen, and all that other good s**t . Then Apple will be on hush mode... They patenting things we don't need or phones already have.
