New meaning for Verizon’s IN Calling network
With their recent acquisition now complete, Verizon’s IN Calling policy is changing to include Alltel customers. Commencing January 16, both phone calls and text messaging will apply to this new transformation for Verizon subscribers. They will not be billed for those calls or texts sent to any Alltel mobile line. Unfortunately though, the same cannot be said for Alltel. They will still be billed the same if they were to call a Verizon mobile line. On February 15, the “IN” title will be renamed to Mobile to Mobile calling and Mobile to Mobile messaging. So call and text those friends over at Alltel all you want if you’re a Verizon customer!

"They will not be billed for those calls or texts sent to any Alltel mobile line." There is STILL a charge for texting to Alltell customers if the line does not have a texting plan.

its very true. you will get billed for texting unless you have a plan that includes unlimited vzw to vzw. and calls from vzw to alltell are free, but not vice versa for now.
