New images of the Motorola Droid phone for Verizon

New images of the Motorola Droid phone for Verizon
It seems to be no stopping the Motorola Droid, as new info keeps coming out almost every day. Yesterday, we through we've seen it all with the new "iDon't Droid Does" TV Commercial and Web Site, but today the good people over at BGR have some new images of the Motorola Droid. We're not sure if this is the "final" design version or another prototype, as the QWERTY keyboard has two blank keys on the side of the "Alt" keys. This is also the first time we've seen the Droid sporting gold trim. So are you going to buy the Droid? Let us know in the Comments section below.

I pray this is the prototype because it's not a good looking phone, kind of reminds me of the old saying "looks don't matter it's what's inside that count's" and what's in this phone looks good. BGR said this isn't the final design fingers crossed.

I don't think that there's that much time for them to change the design. A lot of people are saying that there's a countdown that says it will be released on November 6th. So for them to change the design and start manufacturing them all before the beginning of November will be bordering impossbile. It could be possible, but in my opinion this should be the final design (more or less). I think this phone looks really good, but was it really necessary to advertise this against the iphone? To me, this is almost identical to the G1. The only thing different is a bigger screen and a better camera. But its too late for Verizon to turn back now I guess. First it was the voyager as the iphone killer, then it was the instinct that was suppose to beat the iphone, then Android's G1 and their open source thingy was suppose to take down the app store I guess, then the storm was suppose to be the real iphone killer, then the palm pre came into the picture just a few months ago and was suppose to be better than the iphone in everyway, and now Android and Verizon are back again with the Droid. It kind of gets annoying after a while.

The LG Voyager was never marketed at the iPhone killer, it was the VZW fanboys that took care of that part. Verizon at the time simply touted it's network and alternatives to the iPhone.

voyager was never marketed as an iphone killer, just vzws first real media touchscreen phone. well EN, you always pit yourself against the leader. If the droid commercial said "the droid is better than the palm 600w", do you think anyone would care? As overhyped as hell as the iphone is, it is the big monster everyone is chasing. I own an android phone (mytouch) and i am getting the new moto on tmobile next month, and i can tell you for a fact android blows anything iphone out of the water. I was a hardcore blackberry nut, but android is very impressive. The Pre and the Storm were business phones first. And they WERE better than the iphone in dozens of ways. the iphone is a MEDIA phone first, not a work phone. The android follows the same path but gives you the power of the open access to make it whatever you want... so its the best of both worlds. No manufacturer is in control of your phone, you are. And thats something the iphone will NEVER be.

Thanks for stating your opinion (I want to make sure that you know those are just opinions). But anyways the voyager was marketed as the iPhone killer but not officially. I've watched videos of Verizon representatives stating it was so and it soon became permanently attatched with the Voyager. But I agree 100% that the other phones are more of a business phone than the iPhone, but then why do they have to always set themselves up to go head to head with the iPhone? I don't think they know that by constantly comparing the iPhone to other phones, they are always continuing to give the iPhone and Apple publicity. I'd like to see storm 2 vs palm pre or something instead of iPhone, iPhone, iPhone all day long.

You are absolutely right. It is a common fact that the reason companies let other companies compare each other even if they trash talk their product is because people will remember the NAME of the BRAND instead of remembering what they actually said about it. For instance there was a commercial that a certain auto company made where they claimed to have so much power in their truck that they could pull anything out of anywhere. They showed their truck pulling the other auto company's truck out of one of those boat ramps after it had gotten stuck in the mud. People didn't remember them saying that the competitor's truck didn't compare in power to their truck, they only remembered the competitor's name being on the truck and thus gave just as much publicity to the competitor as it did their own.

Sigh... i am sooooo bored of VZW's current line-up. Nothing is worth upgrading my vogue to yet... So i think I might just get this and play with something new. I have 1.6 on my Vogue that runs pretty decent, but a 2.0 Android phone for real might keep me entertained until a Snapdragon phones comes vzw's way.

Hopefully it has 16 million colors unlike the Storm, Storm2 or any other Verizon phone sans the enV Touch.

While I'm not in love with the phone itself... I'm desperate for an android on vzw, and while I would love an htc, it appears that won't have a physical keyboard, which I really want... so, yeah, I'm planning on getting this one, lucky me, upgrade a couple weeks after it's release.

I think, IMHO, that the slightly more cramped keyboard here is worth the sacrifice for the thinness (relative) of the device. The Voyaer/enVTouch/Rogue devices at "fat" when compared to Droid or iPhone.

what does a cramp keyboard have to do w/ thickness?

The amount of space needed to fit certain components changes based on the amount of white space allowed for in a device. As a rule of thumb the more space in a keyboard, the ticker the device. For the most part only BB has been able to go against this grain.

It's not Verizon leaking anything. It's not like they are trying to tease you it just happens that they don't keep the best secrets.

It has a 16 million color view. The phone with the pictures has a bad background on it to show this off. Don't let these pictures sway you. Or if you want to go use a phone with an old always crappy winmo os go head.

Looks good. 2 thoughts running through my mind. 1. Its a motorola, and almost all motos on VZW have stunk for the last few years. Only the RAZR2 was a decent phone. Hopefully they created solid hardware to go along with the new OS. 2. The one thing I can't live without is T9. and I don't mean qwerty text prediction, I mean standard numeric keypad entry T9 like every flip phone (except motorola) has had for years now. Does ANYONE know of a T9 keypad add on for android that could be downloaded on this phone? PLEASE? I love android, but I can't give up T9. Sometimes you just have to type with one hand, and those tiny little onscreen smushed up qwerty's are trash.
