New details on Windows Blue and how it brings Windows Phone to tablets and desktops
0. phoneArena 26 Dec 2012, 22:01 posted on
We have heard a couple rumors about Windows Blue, which is the reported update to Windows that is planned for mid-2013. What we had heard before was that the update was planned to be the universal version of Windows, and could possibly be offered for free to accomplish that goal. We also heard that it could bring support for 7 and 8 inch tablets, and now we're getting new details on how Blue will bridge the gap between tablets, desktops, and Windows Phone...

This is a good news... ios and android shares phone and tablets in one platform... but, Microsoft try to bring tablets, phones and allso PC's in one platform... Windows Blue is big project for Microsoft...

Ya we shall see if that 'big project' is successful or not. Not being a doubter buuuuttt Microsoft is entering uncharted territory by introducing a UI to a computer that is similar to that of what it uses on its smartphones.

And people will try it out if it is really FREE of charge.

This would be huge if it works. Wild card would be the success of Windows 8 on desktops. I have 7 now....and I have no want or need to get 8 unless it was pre installed on a PC I wanted. Since I go the custom PC route, that will never happen.

You should give it a try. Windows 8 runs smoother and faster than 7 on the same hardware. Also, once you figure out how to navigate the new UI (which is actually quite simple) it can be more productive as well.

I just jumped to Win 7 a few months ago...lol. Thats also part of the reason.

They should also focus on making sync a piece of cake between WP8 and desktop... and similar to MAC OS and iOS they should bring app syncing wirelessly

I understand that it got a newer kernel, but resizable tiles?
It's already available in the current version of Windows 8, I'm confused...

I hope that the Windows 8 desktop is updated to have resizable live tiles on the desktop that way a person would not have to go back to the modern UI start screen AKA Metro start screen to access some of those great full screen Windows Modern UI apps I also hope that Microsoft makes it's Own App to restore the start button to the desktop. Folks there are free versions of programs to restore the Start button on the desktop but how safe are they? Microsoft personnel know the Windows 8 OS better than anyone so they should make the App and put it in the Windows 8 and 8 pro store. that way the start button is restored the best way the Microsoft way.by the way modern UI tiles in Windows 8 are resizable to to 2 sizes whereas Windows phone 8 Apps tiles are resizable to 3 sizes.Yoo Microsoft create some new tiles that have rounded corners. the Tiles would look Better than those sharp cornered tiles you have on windows Smart phones and windows 8 and 8 Pro and windows RT OS screens People like to look at rounded objects more than straight edged ones Trust me on this you will sell more devices if they look better to the human eye

I can understand why MS has to have W8 and WP8 separate, but I just don't understand why they need Windows RT. Why not use WP8 instead?

yes they should make their tiles have rounded corners or at least ve a 3d effect

Doesn't Apple have a patent on round cornered tiles? lol
19. milesboy5 (Posts: 95; Member since: 07 Nov 2012)
I believe there patent to be on round cornered hardware...nothing to do with software...such as the tiles. I could be wrong tho

i really love windows 8! super fast! 6 seconds from shut down to desktop! and more powerful! hahahahahha and uniting all of that... tablet, phone, pc... that is the epitomy of success for a tech company. they will dominate if it succeeds

if this Update is as powerful as it appears to be then folks you might have to do a clean install which would mean you have to back up your files and reinstall all you Windows programs. if it is a real improvement on Windows 8 then I will go for it even though I would have to reinstall all my Windows programs. I have experimented with the free start button
return programs to see how well they work but how safe are they? I want Microsoft to make the App to do this because it would be done I think safer than 3rd party programs what do you folks think? Hmm will blue include an MS start button return app.
