Even if NFL announcers occasionally call it an Apple iPad, the Microsoft Surface Pro is already considered 'must-have' equipment for all 32 NFL teams. They are used to take photos of the opponent's offensive and defensive sets, looking for holes. In the olden days, NFL teams used Polaroid pictures taken from the press box to do the same thing.

A new commercial for the Surface Pro 4 shows how NFL stars like Drew Brees, Clay Matthews III, and Todd Gurley employ the slate. Some NFL stars use the Surface Pro 4 to map out and design plays. Other use it to track their progress in the weight room, while some players watch game film with the tablet. At the end of the ad, we see what is really important as far as Drew Brees is concerned. The tagline? "Trusted by the Pros, built for the fans."

We do have a couple of things to point out. The case that the tablet is wearing is a special impact absorbing one made for the Surface Pro models used by the NFL. This allows the tablet to take a huge hit and keep on working. It is not available for the public to buy. However, what fans can purchase is an NFL Type Cover featuring the logo of any one of the 32 NFL teams. Microsoft currently has a deal that takes $100 off the price of a Surface Pro 4 purchased at the same time as a Type Cover, including the NFL version. That deal expires on October 9th.
