New ad for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 brings holiday cheer

Samsung has a new ad for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet that spreads holiday cheer, instead of pushing the features of the device. There are no shots taken at Apple, no video showing Lebron James and his Miami Heat teammates enjoying the device while prepping for their third straight NBA title . Instead, the ad (which is called Holiday Reflections) shows a small town during the holiday season and the Samsung Galaxy Note turns the town into a series of animated scenes.

Whether it is a couple sawing down a Christmas tree, carolers, some one figure skating on a pond while another skater falls on his butt, there is nothing but good cheer in this commercial. Yes, this is the time of the year when cut throat competition takes a break. But Samsung can't relax too long. Almost immediately after we celebrate the beginning of a new year, the industry gathers in Las Vegas for CES 2014. Add to that MWC 2014 in Barcelona late in February, and after just 8 weeks we'll have a good idea about which direction the mobile industry will be heading in 2014.

But there will be time later to think about all that. Right now, Samsung just wants to say Happy Holidays.
