Depicted on a new Verizon sales flyer is an image of the highly-anticipated LTE-capable HTC Thunderbolt with the phrase “now available” despite the fact that it hasn’t even been given a release date…

Its the... NoBolt!
I wonder what the excuse de jour will be from VZW will be when someone actually wants to buy the NoBolt?

They're delaying it because of battery flaws.

as long as the delays improve the phones capabilities and not due to the iphone

Ummmm, I never thought I would write this (say this), but I'm actually considering switching from Verizon to T-mobile. WHY HAVEN'T ANY TECH SITES WRITTEN MORE ABOUT THE LTE PROBLEMS THAT THE AIRFORCE HAS BEEN GRIPING ABOUT?

I have no problem waiting if they release it and it works like it should. Do you think verizon wants their first 4g lte phone to have tons of returns due to issues? Delays look much better than returns.

wait...if its battery life is it not the manufacture's/HTC's Fault?..Verizon is just trying to stall the phone release till HTC fixes the problem so customer's would not bitch when the thunderbolt is out and has terrible battery life.

I hate to break this to you, but... Verizon would never release this flyer. I'm assuming that a relatively large company would insist on printing actual sentences in its ads. The English in this ad is completely unprofessional. (I'm not even going to point out errors in the actual article, say in the third paragraph, second sentence.)
"Tell us, where you work?" is not a sentence. And in the second sentence, why would "GET" be bolded and in caps lock? Before printing "news" please consider whether it's remotely believable. These fake rumors about the Thunderbolt are getting old, and it'd be great if the websites releasing these articles could do a little fact sifting first. Proofreading would've saved me from having to read this article.

So in your infinate wisdom, did you happen to notice that underneath the VERIZON logo, it says 'Authorized Wireless Reseller'
So, this ad could very well exist, as Verizon doesn't have to proof any AD that a reseller makes. They have the right to make the signage, and put the verizon logo and typeface on it because they pay to be an 'authorized reseller'. So go back, read it again, and get over the fact that you got SUPER excited that the phone might actually be available, and have your mom make you some more meatloaf and bring it to you in the basement.
The phone is delayed, but Verizon has NEVER given a firm release date, so everyone getting upset, including you, is getting upset over NOTHING other than rumors that are posted on these sites that are, as you put it, "printing 'news." So look in the mirror and remember that all the news about release dates have been fake rumors to this point.
You want both ends. You want sites to stop posting 'fake rumors' but you yourself read those 'fake rumors' and got all hyped about a date that was never OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED BY ANYONE!!!

maybe the ad is intended to appeal to inner city folk or hicks?

does anyone own an HTC phone that has good battery life?? Every HTC phone Ihave owned (3 of them) battery life is HORRIBLE. How can you have a phone with all the new features, but your not supposed to turn the features on if you want to have your phone last a whole day at mx

I can tell you as an emplyee of VZW, 2 things, 1 is I personally have not seen this flyer. The second being that I check the "stock" quantity at the distribution warehouse, and the HTC Thunderbolt is currently not in stock at our warehouse. So as much as everyone (including myself) would like for it to be in stock and ready to go, it is not as of this day. I wish I had more info than that, but I do not.

I've gone from excited to "meh" myself over the wait. A VzW employee told me that they were in stock and would be released on the 24th, that day has come and gone. I've got 2 suspicions: 1 is an Apple "non compete" clause in their release. The other is VzW being VzW. I got an HTC Touch years ago and waited for the WM 6.1 upgrade, pushed back constantly. I sent an e-mail to HTC and they responded that the upgrade was tested and approved by them. The reality was that VzW was sitting on it until they could turn off the GPS chip and charge us another $8 a month. I would suspect that VzW is trying to turn off features so they can charge for them and they screwed something up.

I was told by a person, that some stores already have a few units.... The big problem is battery life. Can't seem to get more that 6 to 8 hours out of a battery.

I had been planning to buy this from VZ, but word of all the problems both HTC and VZ, we've decided if it's not out this weekend, we're going with another carrier.
At this point, I really don't care for either of them.
VZ with all the reported problems with their 4G.
HTC with reported battery problems (supposedly caused by 3G/4G transitioning).

As if Verizon even cares whether you wait for them or not. I bet you're going to TMobile or something because you're cheap.

How is t-mobile cheap? if they profit of their plans, offer Nicer phones that at&t and sprint, and are upgrading their network constant. Again, How are they cheap? you may think Verizon is better* because you pay more well guess what, its not using the money you feed it to improve its network, Its Just giving the profits to its Employers and laughing at you because they got away with ripping you off. you sir...mam...it is a sucker*. :) have a great day
