That's a great improvement! We also need a mobile version of PhoneArena, it uses too much of my data to load the desktop version.

I like it too.
I think they should include lacking the latest and greatest under cons though. For example, iphone 4s has no LTE support and the sgsii doesnt run ICS.

The Pros & Cons bother me.
If it was Windows Phone what will it be?
- Only Single Core Processor
- Only 512MB RAM
6. SleepingOz (unregistered)
compared to a high end droids? yeah!
compared to the iphone, may be not..

Why do you need a dual core when 1.4 GHz single core processor performs greater on wp7.5, than of Androids 2.4 GHz dual core.......you guys are big idiots and gone mad with your LAGGY ANDROID LOL.
If you don't like other OS don't open your LAGGY MOUTH...... Older WINDOWS PHONES gets updates whenever a major update arrives.
Did your ANDROID 2.3 ever got updated to ANDROID 4.0....no..! :D then keep your phone on desk and smash it with a big hammer.
Dislike me you ANDROID FANBOYS.....dying to get ANDROID 4.0 on your phones.....waiting for your reply :-]
8. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
your an idiot. just saying.
can you name 1 2.4ghz phone on the market? lol
older windows phones? you realize that WP7 is barely 1 year old right? not a single windows 6.5 got an update to 7.
you do realize that once apollo comes out for WP7, which allows for high end dual core processors, your current windows phone will be left in the update dust, dont you? lol.

remixfa, Apollo will be available to every WP, both generations. WP8 can use high def screens, dual core processors, stronger game chips, ECT. It doesn't need it. Every short little discussion from the.tech said has said it. No, not officially announced, but there is no reason to believe otherwise. Now, this may be it for 1st Gen WP devices, but I am comfortable that all will happen.
As for the concern that WP single core processors will be a "con" even though they don't need them, we will see. Microsoft could have avoided this by just not only allowing but pushing for dual core in 2nd Gen devices. What would it have hurt? The performance of Mango would not have been any less, and the processors wouldn't have degraded battery life. It would have helped WP look good on the spec wars and future proofed 2nd Gen devices. In other words: It's their own stupid fault.

What you are really saying, is that if we don' like another OS (giving our opinion) we have to keep quiet about it. That's weird, because that is exactly the opposite of what you are doing. You are coming with your opinion, which I respect, but then you should respect our opinions as well.
On a sidenote, Android 4.0 was released about two months ago, and many of our phones, that now has Android 2.3, may well get Android 4.0. I really see no reason whatsoever to smash your phone with a hammer, just because you have not got the latest OS version.
Sent from my year old HTC Desire HD running Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich :)

I'm happy that you got the update.....but you will not even see a future major update of ANDROID on your HTC desire HD where as my Nokia lumia 710 will get two major windows updates..i.e. Win 8 & whatever the future version is......:)
39. TechDroid (Posts: 37; Member since: 14 Jun 2011)
I haven't got the update through official channels, so I guess I will get further updates for a while :)
41. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
since we dont even know what comes after apollo, that sure is speculative to assume your going to get it.
general rule of thumb.. you buy the phone for what it is now, not for some update in the future. unless you get it in writing from the manufacturer that your specific phone is getting an update, you should assume its never going to get more than bug fixes.
sent from my nearly 2 yr old SGS1 vibrant running 4.0.3 ICS :) Since december :)

A single core processor is not a con because it is single core. It is only a con if it hampers the performance of the device. Same for memory. I have had android, currently have a Windows Phone and will be going back to an android next week. But, it has nothing to do with specs. The pros/cons should be objective evaluations of the performance, not some arbitrary determination of what somebody decides are required specs.

I am going on a limb here but what about user experience.
Like the iPhone has a smoother interface than say the desire HD.
Or Galaxy s2 super smooth vs desire hd
Is their any way to compare that or just wait for the review and comparison review.
As nice as the spec comparison is. Is there a possibility of Interface comparison.

BTW, your specs for the i4s are wrong. Its a 800mhz processor, not a 1ghz processor. Gotta change that. :)
17. ardent1 (Posts: 2000; Member since: 16 Apr 2011)
To Victor H:
remixfa got his facts wrong when he stated "Its a 800mhz processor, not a 1ghz processor." The fact is that A5 chip is a 1ghz processor that has been underclocked to run at 800 mhz for the 4S.
The A5 chip can run as fast as 1,000 mhz or 1 ghz.
For the 4S, Apple "underclocked" that bad-baby chip to 800 mhz. Again, the A5 was originally designed to run at 1,000 mhz.
19. Ray.S (Posts: 319; Member since: 19 Jul 2011)
ardent1, you are right. However, what we list there is not the maximum possible speed of the chip, but rather the way it's been utilized in this particular phone.
So yeah, theoretically it is able to achieve 1 GHz, but in reality, in the iPhone 4S, it's running at 800 MHz, and that's what is important to us. This doesn't mean that the phone itself will be slower, of course, specs ain't everything.
36. ardent1 (Posts: 2000; Member since: 16 Apr 2011)
To Ray S.
Thanks for agreeing with me that the A5 is a 1 Ghz processor that remixfa messed up on.
This does raise an important point -- for phonearena.com to point out processor speed and not just the processor.
Again, food for thought.

ardent1 the iPhone 4S is "clocked" at 800MHz. So that is what the phone is. Nothing more & nothing less. If the A5 chip is made to handle 1GHz doesn't change the fact that Apple "chose" to "clock" it at 800MHz. So just to stop this, the Apple iPhone 4S is a A5 dual-core processor "clocked" at 800MHz plain and simple.
With your logic the HTC Evo 3D really is a 1.8GHz phone then because it has the ability to go that high. Who do I know that? Well because I have "overclocked" it to 1.8GHz. But, but, but, HTC has it "clocked" at 1.2GHz so guess what? The phone is a 1.2GHz phone, again nothing more & nothing less.
22. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
SAE. sorry man your argument is fair and acceptable. but don't use the crappy EVO 3D as an example... use a better phone.. like... hmmm Photon 4G
25. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 4813; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
I was going to use my Samsung Galaxy Nexus but the highest anyone can overclock that phone is 1.4GHz. My old HTC Evo 3D can be overclocked to 1.8GHz so I thought it was a better example. lol
P.S. I love that avatar. Robot Chicken is awesome!
27. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
only you SAE... lol... I like the OG EVO.. better..
26. ngo2dd (Posts: 896; Member since: 08 Jul 2011)
There is nothing wrong with a 3D, you don't even like android you troll
28. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
I do like Android... It makes my iphone look better...lol. jk.. I like competition.. it pushes innovation..
33. cnance (Posts: 8; Member since: 16 Dec 2010)
@ngo2dd He is not trolling.....only person that is trolling is you.

Please LEARN to READ: The A5 processor runs at 1GHZ, the Processor SPEED is limited to 800 mhz for the 4S.
The Processor and Precessor SPEED are two separate things, independent of each other. remixfa SCREWED UP stating it was a 800 mhz processor when IN FACT it is a 1 Ghz processor limited to 800 mhz.
I was correcting remixfa who likes to believe he knows everything.
37. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
ardent, like normal you are combative and wrong. the exynos is set to run at 1.5ghz, but it is clocked at 1.2ghz. guess what it's "official" specs list it as 1.2ghz because the factory clock speed is what counts, not its maximum theoretical speed. and btw, the a5 chip IS the exynos with a different gpu... it can go way higher than 1ghz if they wanted to, so even your arguement about that is wrong.
the i4s official clock is 800mhz. its a well known fact at this point by anyone that pays attention. I dont know why you care so much anyways... you use a cheap old Android phone on a cheap prepaid carrier. you don't even have an iPhone.

Excellent feature. I think you can improve that further by adding ratings that are time specific. I don't exactly know how but a system of ratings that takes in the release date as a factor to generate dynamic ratings so that down the line if someone compares an iPhone 4 with god knows which phone comes 2 years down the line, he should be able to differentiate the ratings with the year of release. Just a suggestion. :)
20. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
no cons for the SGSII.. wow.. I guess is the perfect phone.. wow PA really?...
38. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
they took away petty complaints like plastic and keep it just about the specs. spec wise there is no phone higher than the sgs2 and it has more connectivity options and better battery life than pretty much every other smartphone... android or not. .. including the iPhone. what are its TECH negatives gallito?
23. Bluesky02 (Posts: 1439; Member since: 05 Dec 2011)
What I mean before the Pros and Cons system might give a bad representation of Windows Phone.
The Samsung Galaxy 2 highlights has been given with dual core, 1gig ram and etc.
But if the same thing would be done with WP7.5 it could send negative message. Meaning cons. As windows phone perform better only with single core, 512 and not many people would understand that.
However many user mentality are like everything need quad core or heavy specs and when they will see these pros and cons about WP it might send bad impression.
29. Hildy (Posts: 34; Member since: 23 Nov 2011)
Avoiding for the moment the discussion of the particulars of your examples, I would suggest one thing.
Rivals should have a way to set a filter to only show the rivals on the same carrier.
While some may change carriers to get a particular phone, many of us are interested in the new phones coming for a carrier we already have.
30. AndresJ (Posts: 48; Member since: 06 Feb 2012)
I rather think comparing devices is hard to manage, how can you compare dual, quad or single core - some single cores are faster than dual or quad and dual better than quad. With the cores comes speed and some have faster response than others so specs mean something but they also don't mean something.

So PA is saying the gs2 is a flawless phone? Ha that's funny
