At last! Awesome implementation guys. Just make sure that the site remembers the individual preferences when clicking the Follow button (i.e. no e-mail notifications, etc).

Need a mobile version of PhoneArena

no.

why? if you have a decent phone, full versions of websites work flawlessly.

it actually annoys me quite a bit to have mobile sites come up. it also annoys me that so many sites make apps with the exact same functionality as their site.

its unneeded. focus on making your site better (which is what PA is doing. kudos)

I have to agree. My phone works perfectly with PhoneArena.com. The site is perfect just the way it is. Only feature phones need mobile versions of web-sites.

The only thing that annoys me is the pop up ads sometimes... on a phone it can be hard to hit the little tiny x in the upper right hand corner.

Maybe i'm just an idiot... I haven't had that problem recently.

... and why would a feature phone user bother to have mobile internet? If you want mobile internet these days, there are free smartphones (which, on most carriers, require a data plan anyway) available on-contract. There are cheap smartphones on prepaid plans, as well. They all handle full-html-websites these days. I see no reason for anyone to bother getting a data plan for their wap-based or xhtml-based feature phones. I don't have a data plan for my cheap crap phone I'm using right now (so old, cheap, and crappy that I don't even admit to its existence on my phone list here... maybe someday I'll get up the courage to admit to the garbage handset I'm using, but today is not that day).

Are you serious?
I have a decent phone (Motorola Atrix 4G) and trying to read PhoneArena's webpage is a absolute pain in the butt. The standard PA home page is way too cluttered for a 4-inch screen on most smartphones. Sure, I can pinch to zoom in, but inevitably those annoying popup ads PA has show up, and you can't close them without zooming back out because the ads auto-center in the browser window.
There are way too many links, drop-down menus, ads, etc strewn about on the regular PA page to be workable on a small mobile phone/smartphone screen.
Doesn't anyone else see the irony in the leading website dedicated to mobile phones not have a mobile version of their site?

If I can navigate it flawlessly on a 3.5 inch iPod touch screen, I think it's ok on a 4 in screen. All I know is I always hate having to scroll to the bottom of engadgets mobile site to get to the main site, as the mobile site is crappy (as most mobile sites are). I am grateful I don't have to do so on this site

I think we need a couple of more tings

this site is great for instant news but when it comes down to finding old articles its a huge challenge among other things Here are some things that I would Like if the phone arena team could implement those

-More Tags
I think your site uses a really reduced number of tags and that is not always good its not that the site must be filled with every tag we could imagine but tags like #Rumors, #Patent #Security #Concept are tags that could be added to make searching for an article even more comfortable

-More ways to search with tags
its nice that you can see all the news about one topic thanks to tags but an idea could also be mixing tags where you say #Morotola and #LG and #WindowsMobile or #Apple #accessory and information is pulled from articles that have those tags in common so finding certain articles is more easy

-More careful details about what type of articles we a reading, There are News and facts that do not need to be labeled there are Whiter opinions that should be labeled as Opinions, There Are Rumors What Should be labeled as rumors, when phone arena does its own research it should also be labeled and so on, I've seen people from the site taking a rumor as a straight fact or a writer opinion as a fact when they are not necessarily true.

-Recommendation of the (day/week) there is a cool new app you think we should try? a phone deal to avoid or swap? I know some time you do those but I wish it was more common.

This is an excellent addition to the site. I applaud you guys for not only deciding to do this, but for the simplicity and usefulness of your execution of the idea. Your notification system is officially better than Facebook's.

If we're allowed to make suggestions for future site features, if we could have a full on forum where we can create new topics, as well as a private messaging system between users, that would be great. :)

Actually, one CAN start their own discussion -> from a phone or carrier/manufacturer. All discussions are listed in the Discussions page (http://www.phonearena.com/discussions) sorted by the latest post in them. One can also filter to see only discussions they have posted in by checking the [x] My discussions option.

We will continue working on making it better though :)

Fair enough, but the method for starting a discussion is a bit too compartmentalized. If the discussions were completely centralized, wherein you could start a new topic of discussion from the discussions page, (and perhaps rename it "forum") the feature would be more useful. Just an opinion from an Internet denizen. :)

thats gr8. but as Sniggly said if we can have some kinda private messaging system between users and also if we can connect to authors, that will be very nice. and i want some sort of Q/A section where we can get answers for questions without starting a discussion.

... typical iFans and their "never wanting more"... no one is disputing that they've done well, but how can it possibly hurt to want something more for the future? You know, looking ahead. But, apparently it is not okay to want more... it is apparently uncouth to dream a little. Doesn't innovation require a little dreaming?

Ahhh... now I see why this mind set is so prevalent... if you already have what you want, then why not deny everyone else what they are dreaming for? If you don't need it, then they must not either... "Don't rock the boat! We're on top now, and we want it to stay that way forever!"

is very disrecpectful to get something and say .."thank" may i have more"... you are not in college my friend.. and I never said not to want more.. I apologize for the disrespect. I will say it just struck me as one of those "Fandroids have stinky crap" posts, so I felt the need to remind you that everyone, including myself, has stinky crap... otherwise, I now see your point, and apologize for my own misunderstanding.

I am indeed enjoying the new features, and will continue to dream up more things that I might like to see in here some day (like some of Sniggly's fantastic suggestions... but please don't think I am trying to rush you all, PA Team). Fortunately, I do not have an Android phone, and I do not use mobile internet... however, I'm sure that someone's Android phone is force-closing right now, somewhere in the world... =8-P

BTW, why is isheeeeeep banned, but fandroid is not? its the same term for the opposite side of the fence. neither is all that derogatory though, so why ban either?

Fandroid and iFan are more similar terms... throwing the term "sheep" in either one does make it quite a bit more derogatory.

Not sure if this may have been added to the original story after it's original posting or not, but:
"And that's it! Feel free to explore the new feature, get familiar with it, and do not hesitate sharing your thoughts about it in the comments below. We'd be happy to hear your feedback as it will help us make our following system even better." (Some of it's even in bold.)
Most places want feedback and actually listen to it, be it positive or negative.

And I must add, great job PA. Best site I've found for mobile news/reviews and only getting better.

PhoneArena.com is great, no complaints. Since its about features, nowadays we see sites offering
Full Version | Mobile Version
Its simple, if PhoneArena fits your mobile browser in full version, i'm happy for you.
As for users who wants more optimize content they can switch to mobile version.
We need to think how can features be at every users advantage. Every user should have the choice between full site and mobile site.
Some examples are
Google.com
Zdnet.com
kotaku.com
facebook.com
Twitter.com
And the list goes on.
The idea is simple, clear and precise information.
