thatdude is right on point. Apps are fun to have and use, but they don't mean zilch if your phone can't even handle the basics in a reliable fashion. You know, things like making and receiving calls, basic messaging capabilities, sending and receiving e-mails. If my phone can't do those things correctly then I don't care how big it's screen is or how fast it's processor is or how many apps it has in its market. If it can't cover the basics......it's useless to me. I'm not going to spend my hard earned money to buy something because it can make 338 different fart sounds and lets me play the 73 versions of Jewel Quest.

Wow its the same old story again. I mention time and time again that apps are what makes a phone these days - while bringing the examples of the Android (did you notice that word? It reads Android. Not apple) and iPhone - and everyone continues to bash the iPhone dropping calls and somehow claim that I'm an apple fanboy (even though I stated in another thread that I'm not and that Apple deserves to get punished for this mistake they made). I really am surprised how can you be so ignorant. As for Nokia, Samsung, etc etc dominating the market - iPhone was introduced 3 years ago. Android was introduced 2 years ago. In such a short time the marketshare of each company doesn't change from 100% to 0 and vice versa. Yet as you can see - both Android (here's that word again. It's not apple. It's Android. Learn to read) and the iPhone have very respectable marketshare on their own. And I beg you to give me one advantage that the Nokia platform has - and Android (whoa - seen that? That word again) and Apple (yes, aside from the iPhone 4G dropping calls ffs) don't have. The future belongs to the smartphones. And that means that the future will belong to phones with an excessive amount of apps. Be it Android (I hope you saw that), or iPhone. Nothing else (read: Android or iPhone) doesn't have a reason to exist. Just like today we got Windows, and we got Mac OSX. These are the 2 most popular OSs in the world. It obviously wasn't like this back then. But things change.

You want an advantage that Symbian has over the Iphone? I'll give you one: The fact that you can change the theme of your phone. Apple will NEVER allow people to change the theme on their Iphone to something that isn't created by them. Also, the Nokia N8 is gonna have a full flash player. Who isn't? Apple. Never will they have flash player. I'm about ready to put you in a circle room and tell you to go cry in the corner you fucking dumbass.

Umm I really have to ask. Did you just completely ignore the word Android in my previous post? Because I was really trying to emphasize that it's not just about the iPhone. Really. I find it difficult to resist the urge to point the obvious - when people refuse to read.

You must be living in an imaginary world if you think android and the ios are the two most popular in the world. The stats(which happen to be FACTUAL)say it's symbian and then the blackberry os. Where do you get your lies from? Why do you constantly have to make stuff up? Is it because you really do not know what you are talking about? Yes, that is definitely it. Face the FACTS, ilia, Nokia rules both handset and OS wise, and that is not gonna change because you want it to. Nokia handsets allow for far more customization than android or iphone. They allow for moe third party apps to be applied to their handsets from more sources than android and iphone, and even have superior functionality, even in offline mode! Face facts, Nokia is gonna be on top for a long time to come.

You kinda stated this yourself. My previous post was indeed deleted - and merely because it was a reply to yours. Yours was the one truly deserving a deletion. And because I HAD a previous post - claiming that I am unable to respond to your statements is a poor excuse.

It's not a poor excuse, it's the truth. You cannot combat the facts I have laid out before you, so just admit it. End of story.

This will kill you to know ilia1986, but did you know that the Nokia 5800 has outsold and continues to outsell the iPhone in every country in the world other than the U.S The phone you love to hate Thats got to drive you buggy! LOL

I am perfectly aware of that. The nokia 5800 was released on October 2008. The whole thing with apps started just 4 months earlier - with the introduction of the iPhone 3G. You can't possibly expect the entire world to be aware of the importance of apps in 4 months. But you're looking at the past. I'm looking at the present. And at the future. Yes, Nokia still has the largest market share. But that is going to change. And as I said - I'm still waiting for people to name one advantage that Nokia has - and that the real smartphones (Android and iPhone) don't. You know - back at the time - only the select few had DSL hardlines. Most still had 56.6k modems. Did it mean that these modems were better than the DSL lines? Obviously not. But as technology progressed, broadband became more and more widespread, and the 56.6k modems practically died (at least in all the developed countries I know - Europe, Israel, etc etc). The same thing will happen with Nokia and all the other non-smartphone makers and brands. They will die. I'ts already happening. Every month more and more people use Android and\or iPhone. It's the future. It's inevitable. And people must adapt to it less they be considered outdated.

STILL SPAMMING Nokia articles, ilia?! Get a LIFE, dude!! For you even IMAGINE that Nokia smartphones are not smartphones shows what a pure IDIOT you are. Android is hardly a BLIP on the screen when it comes to sales vs symbian handsets. That is a FACT, not some imaginary thing conjured up by me because I hate android. Android is a good platform, it just does not stack up against symbian. NUMBERS don't lie. I have FACTS on my side. All you have is your hate for all things Nokia. Get off Nokia's left nutsack, already! How you can even ASSUME that the iphone is a smartphone is ridiculous! But if a smartphone, by definition, is one that allows 3rd party apps, then Nokia handsets are definitely smartphones, you idiot! Nokia smartphones continue to outsell other smartphones. You can add all of the Rim, android and apple(and apple is loosely added!)smartphones and Nokia smartphones continue to dominate them. All three combined don't even EQUAL the amount of Nokia smartphones sold! That is a FACT that your dumb ass continues to ignore. And one advantage that Nokia smartphones have over android and iphone is that you can add more third party apps from different sources than you can with android or apple. Iphone does not even allow you to add anythng unless you get it from their app store! Another thing is that Nokia smartphones come with more expandable memory than both! My Nokia N900 or the Nokia N97 come with 32 gigs of internal memory and allow you to expand them past 48 gigs via memory card. Apple? Nope! Android handsets only allow you to expand up to 32 gigs. Nokia touch screen handsets also have virtual keyboards in more languages than other touch screen handsets. Nokia handsets generally have better performing cameras and batteries than android handsets and the iphone. Nokia will not die because you think so, you moron. You will learn that the hard way. Again, if you do not like Nokia handsets, then get rid of you Nokia handset(you bash them, yet you use their products? I smell a hypocrite!)and buy a android handset or an iphone! I swear, you are just angry with them because they denied your application for employment.

lol Some one is getting a bit angry and personal here. It is indeed amusing to see such a response on such a subject. However, since the above post is also most misguided and full with so many incorrect, inaccurate or just plain wrong things - I won't bother responding to it in a proper way. I've already said everything there is to say on the matter. Well aside from personal judgement of certain members here. But I won't get into that. I am still obliged to report that post however (the least - and unfortunately the most I can do). Maybe people will understand that one big paragraph full with angry descriptions and inappropriate definitions, not to mention absolute nonsense is not the way to reply to any person. Thank you and have a nice day.

You are not going to respond to anything I have to say because you know that I am correct. All you do all day long is report misinformation about Nokia in an attempt to get others to feel like you do, and it is not working. Time and again I have responded to your posts with FACTS, and still you sound off with misinformation, spamming all articles even mentioning Nokias name. You are really sad. I have reported your spamming, so please just stop. No one takes what you have to say seriously, you twists facts with your lies, making yourself look completely inept. Please seek help.

No one takes you seriously. In fact, I actually think you're either a 12yr old boy on mommy's computer or a spambot. I've reported ALL of your posts as spam. And the fact that all you do is say apps apps apps makes you sound like the female in that Evo4g vs Iphone4 video going around the internet. Do you also want the one with the WiFi's and bigger GB's?

"Lets NOT turn it into another "Lets bash apple" Thread" Maybe you should practice what you preach and chill a bit with your redundant and I mean REDUNDANT Nokia rants. I'm really trying to understand your obsession with Nokia, but I can't I hate Samsung Phones. I've owned em and I think they are pieces of crap. I don't care if they run Android, Smandroid, Phandroid, Windows, Curtains or Blinds. I don't care if they have a million apps. I'll never buy another Samsung Device. But I'm not going to seek out EVERY single article concerning Samsung in an attempt to try to validate what are my personal opinions. ..... Yes, my PERSONAL opinions. As I said, I'm really trying to understand your obsession with Nokia. But I can't

Well, seeing that - as I've already told - the Nokia platform - be it Symbian, or Maemo or Meego or whatever has not a single advantage that Android or iPhone have - I feel compelled to point out the fact that the best phones to buy right now - and probably in the futrure - are Android phones or iPhones. You already know my story with the Nokia 5800. How I was deceived into thinking that it's just like the iPhone with a different brand (heck, my mom even though that I actually owned an iPhone). There is a certain phenomenon on the internet - and in many other places called "expressing your opinion". Thats what I do. I do this to try to persuade people not to make the same mistake as I did. If I was truly "obsessed" according to what you claim - I'd be responding to every single post on this thread with a "Nou idiot don't buy Nokia lol". But because I'm not - I merely explain myself in a calm and intelligent fashion. Let's look at what's going on on other threads, though. All the iPhone 4 threads are filled with people screaming how iPhone sucks, how apple sucks, people calling each other names, most of them not providing even a sense of n excuse for that. That is indeed obsession. Why would they be so obsessed with the iPhone as to reply in every single thread about it how it sucks and how Apple is dumb and Steve is evil and etc? Well either they are just trolls, or they bought an iPhone before - and were frustrated with it's experience - and now they try to warn others as well about it. Their bad experience with the iPhone so far was a week and a half of their phone dropping calls if not held carefully, or if without a bumper protector. MY experience with my Nokia 5800 so far has been a one and a half year of pure absolute torment - with sluggishness, slowness, freezing, lack of features or apps, lack of a proper gui (again - when compared to the iPhone and Android). Why should I suffer because I bought the wrong phone? They told me it's just like the iPhone - in the same way that they told those who bought the iPhone 4 that "It's the best iPhone ever". But you don't see me calling names and responding to people with stuff like "But Nokia sucks balls lololol". So am I obsessed with Nokia? No. I think they make great devices if you're an old person and just want a reliable cheap phone. But ever since 2007 - they are far far from being in the top when it comes to features, interface, ease of use, etc etc etc. Just like Motorola was with their Razr. They refused to innovate - and were almost gone awhile ago. But they were smart and switched to Android. Nokia, however refuses to even think about it. Probably has to do with ego more than with pure business. And yet, people still regard Nokia as some major player in the phone market. Aside from the huge (and constantly shrinking) market-share - they got nothing. I am really trying to understand people's high opinion of Nokia. But I cant.

Nokia seriously needs to get it's act together! it's been producing good phones, with bad software for ages now! No surprise that it's losing it's market share where it counts! It's market share is big, but only because it still has good sales in the lower end of the market. Another pain is the fact that they constantly release new phones that are no not upgradeable, compatible or generally make the previous model useless! The apps produced for Nokia phones generally suck! (Not talking of the new N8, but that phone hasn't been released yet) Now, to make matters worse, they're moving away from Symbian^3 to Symbian^4 making the N8 obsolete before being released.. And they're now they're moving over to linux again? WTF? Who will design apps for all these different platforms? Who will buy a device that's obsolete or whose future is uncertain?

First of all, Nokia act is together, as evident by their market share. There is nothing wrong with Symbian. If there was, how could they continue to be so dominant? SO WHAT if they have really strong sales at the low end? Isn't the point of making and selling mobile phones to make sure that they sell? There is such a thing cold low end smartphones(the Nokia Nuron, and their C-Series handsets, to name a few). Nokia realizes the importance of getting smartphones to the masses, and they are doing just that. And Nokia releases new handsets that are upgradeable all the time. There was just a recent firmware release for the Nokia E71 which is over two years old. You should do your research first before posting. And yes, Nokia is moving from Symbian^3 to Symbian^4 and beyond, but isn't that the point of upgrading your OS? Did apple not intoduce ios4 recently? What, you don't think there will be an ios5, rendering ios4 handsets obsolete? There are android handsets out right now that will not go beyond 2.1. Aren't those handset's now obsolete, with the coming of android 2.2? Again, apps DO NOT make a handset great. They have their place in the mobile world, but ARE NOT the be-all, end-all. If you believe apps are what make a handset worthy, then your handset of choice must not be all that worthy to begin with. Will Nokia and Symbian loose SOME market share as others gain? Of course. Will they loose their number one spot? Only in your dreams. OS wise, android and iphone would have to beat out the #2 guy first, which is Rim, and handset wise, they would have to beat out Samsung first, which isn't going to happen. Keep dreaming, though. It's good to have dreams.

And Linux(MeeGo)is going to be for their mobile handset's which are closer to mobile computers, attacking an entirely different market all together. Please do your research.

Christ, when will you understand that just because a company has a large market-share that doesn't mean that it's products are the best? Look at Windows Vs Mac OSX on a purely OS vs OS comparison. Which owns the market? Windows. Which is better? Mac OSX.

Mac is complete garbage. And yes, Symbian owns the market AND is better. If it was not, wouldn't some other platform and handset manufacturer have stolen Nokia's spot by now? You have your opinion, backed by what you WANT to be true. I have my opinion, backed by the FACTS. You cannot win this with lies. Face the FACTS. Move on with your life already and leave Nokia alone. Go post on android or iphone articles, already. Nobody cares about your baseless opinion. Get a life, already.

And when will you learn to stop spamming Nokia articles troll boy? And when will you also learn that apps do not make a.phone great. If all your mobile device has going for it is apps, but can't perform the rudimentary phone services, then your.device is crap."My phone can fart but can't make a call. But at least it has apps"! Hopefully you are done tolling the Nokia articles so we don't have to see your crap anymore spam bot. Good riddance I say!
