isnt it kinda ugly? wood is making it look like an ancient tool instead of an electronic device... plz dont use wood, dont cut trees :p :p
2. microsoftnokiawin (Posts: 1171; Member since: 30 Mar 2012)
yeah I don't like the wood either idk just feels like if I get it wet the wood would start growing moldy or something :P !

Jeez, guys look at the bigger picture. You don't like wood, then guess what? Don't get a wood version, get a leather, denim, plastic, or carbon fiber with the multitude of colors that they offer. Please list another phone that will give you more than 2000 combinations of colors, materials, buttons, wallpaper, and signature. Oh wait, no one else offers anything like that. So this time AT&T and Verizon will be starting this time. Last time if was only AT&T for the longest time and a number of options were not ready until months later. So if they can have more options and carriers from the start. Then they should do quite well this time around. Not to mention the specs are beefed up as well.
Plus if that has something like the Amazon Fire phone. Then I am sold for sure. Take my money Motorola.

imagine if it were dark brushed aluminium instead of wood with similar vertical polish (even darker than htc gunmetal grey). too much goodness.
30. sgodsell (Posts: 2802; Member since: 16 Mar 2013)
The problem with Aluminum is that you would have to rearrange the antenna's inside the device. For instance the NFC would have to be allowed to work. It doesn't work through Aluminum. What if this device has wireless charging. Another thing that is not supported with Aluminum. To me I would rather have carbon fiber over Aluminum any day, but that is my opinion.

I have a wooden Moto x and it is awesome. The coating on it wouldn't allow it to mold or anything. Also, a lot of fashionable things mimic nature. I like that phones are being made out of more natural materials like wood and leather.

That Motorola logo is way too big and ugly, and those bezels are much larger than the Moto X's. Those gimmicky sensors will ruin the phone. I am very disappointed...

this doesn't deserves to be the moto X's successor
32. Scott93274 (Posts: 3564; Member since: 06 Aug 2013)
I think the logo on the back would look just fine with a traditional black back panel. It's the stark contrast with the wood that makes it look out of place. As for the sensors that are on the face of the phone. You can't call them gimmicky just yet as you have no idea what they're even used for. Hold your judgement for after the phone is officially revealed in three days... though I will have to agree with you that the Bezels are large and ugly.

Well sure, the bezels aren't Aquos Crystal-thin, but still they seem to be pretty acceptable (I'd say on par with the Galaxy S5 and thinner than the One M8's, but not at the level of a Moto X or a G3). I think they stand out more because you're looking at a white front plate, which always seems to make bezels stand out more IMO.
I think with a black front plate, it should be fine. And also, it appears to be narrower than a One M8 with a bigger screen (if my calculations are correct, which is not certain). Given that, I think the bezels should be completely okay with a black front plate.

I like it . I'm expecting great things from this phone. I'm rooting for moto, hopefully they will bring a superb camera and battery life this time.

The original Moto X has great battery life.
35. hboy857 (Posts: 346; Member since: 03 Jun 2013)
Really? I heard moto x have average battery life and most of the tech site also indicated it's average battery life.

I love my Moto X, but with the two screwed up Moto 360 promotions, alleged increase in price, as well as Moto Maker exclusivity to at&t yet again, it makes me wonder if they have any idea what they're doing at this point.
The Moto 360 is the most attractive Android Wear device yet, I exclude the LG G Watch R simply because I don't know anything about the device other than what it will look like. But I was dead set to get the 360 as soon as it gets released... right now I'm not so sure.

Hey, Scott93274 since you own a moto x i have to ask, how it moto x battery life?
37. Scott93274 (Posts: 3564; Member since: 06 Aug 2013)
It gets me through the day with moderate use. Typically I have everything running from GPS, bluetooth, wifi, sync... I'm happy with the phone's battery life, but then again, I also came from a Samsung Galaxy Nexus and that phone would go from a full charge to 50% on a half hour commute to work so you could imagine having all all day phone would make someone like myself happy.

who wrote this? LOL "For all we know, the Moto X+1 could be revealed on September 4,"... really? like they don't know that Motorola is introducing the phone and other items that day? The wood back is awesome. There's leather and denim too. These look like fake posts on some fake site.

The back is ugly, bring back the simplistic Moto design!
10. ArtSim98 (Posts: 3535; Member since: 21 Dec 2012)
Am I the only one who likes that back? IMO it looks kinda original and warm. :)
14. DeDex (Posts: 98; Member since: 01 Sep 2014)
From rough measurements based on the front image, and assuming we are looking at a 5.2-inch-screen, this phone seems to be less than 70mm wide. For such a big screen, I find it quite impressive, even though the bezels aren't very aesthetic (then again, bezels on a white phone hardly ever look good, but I agree that they look definitely bad here). Still, I think that it should be okay with a black frontplate.
In terms of design, this white-and-wood version definitely isn't a looker, and I'm skeptical about the back power button. However, you have to admit that the screen-to-size ratio seems to be pretty good.
I fear that the four sensors are going to be a gimmick that may cause the phone's price to skyrocket.
Anyway, I guess we'll have a better look after Motorola's announcement this week. And who knows, it may never reach my country so I may be getting pumped up for no reason ^^

man, that ugly hideous back argh! the moto logo is sickeningly huge this time!
16. dushyant (Posts: 94; Member since: 14 Mar 2011)
This thing is dead ugly,
A difficult sell if u ask me.
19. DeDex (Posts: 98; Member since: 01 Sep 2014)
I agree with you with a white front and wood back panel. It might be acceptable with a black front panel and another back panel though, we'll see.
The only thing I'm pretty sure to like right now is the screen-to-size ratio. As for the rest, I'm waiting to see more.

motorola some how always finds a way to screw up an otherwise great product.

What happened?! The Moto X looked pretty nice but this looks really ugly.

Two very small LEDs are placed at 9 and 3 on the flash, with what looks to be some sort of plastic tube to avoid light bleed.
29. PryvateiDz (Posts: 127; Member since: 31 Jul 2011)
I really like how it looks. I just don't like this whole exclusive business, especially considering I'm hearingit will take 14 days to have it customized and shipped to you. I just want to buy a Moto X + 1 outright on T-Mobile, that's it.

i'm starting to wonder if Verizon is even going to bother with releasing Droids this year...
39. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4250; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
I would hope so. I'm not really liking the design of this year's Moto X, it just looks sloppy. Though the Droid design language is less ergonomic, it's certainly a lot cleaner than this. I really hope this ends up being an early prototype and not the official design, but it looks like that's not the case.
