Wow!!!!! Htc is on fire they are the only ones who are giving up to date updates on their devices!!!!! Unlike Some companies who are forgetting about phones that they released only 4-5 months ago.

HTC's always been pretty quick with updates, which a lot of people seem to forget. The Evo got Froyo about a month after it came out, and got Gingerbread in a pretty timely manner as well. I can't necessarily speak to their other handsets, but from what I've seen, people seem to be much more irked by Samsung and LG, as far as updates are concerned (Nexus phones by Samsung excluded, of course).

The rezound came out 5-6 months ago and still dont have the offical ics update...so what are u talking about?

5-6 months for a major software update is not that long. It seemed like I waited forever for Gingerbread to be brought to my TBolt but the wait was well worth it since it came to me polished and without any errors.

He said htc is on fire with updates..they are just as slow as the others..if they was on fire the rezound would of got the ics update back in jan...and u sound like one of them companies.."5-6 months for a major software update is not that long"..

I think the point he is trying to make is that the Razr, which came out almost a month earlier still has no ICS, and the Nexus, which got an update basically on launch day, has not sent out any official updates until this week, and that was the phone to get if you wanted timely updates. Granted, the update this week isn't even official except for a few people they sent it to.

One of the lead dev's for android even said that the update going from GB to ICS is much bigger and more involved than going from Froyo to GB. So if one of android's guys who has intimate knowledge in these matters feels that way, I think it's worth listening to him.

As far as having ICS back in January, if I recall that would've meant that they would've had around 2 months to have it ready (released to oems Nov. 15th). I don't think anybody except the delusional figured on any ICS before March at the earliest.

As far as the best oems for releasing updates, I'd put HTC & Moto neck & neck (going by 2011) and Samsung & LG trailing by a wide margin (except for Samsung's Nexus S, which baffles me what's going on with the Galaxy Nexus). I think we all remember the Fascinate fiasco (almost a full year to get Froyo and it still had issues), that's just pathetic in my opinion.

So u agree with him saying htc is on "fire" with updates?

They've got ICS on the Vivid, & I believe the Sensation (or it's right around the corner). How many Moto, LG, & Samsung (non Nexus devices) have ICS here in the states? They may not be on fire, but they seem to be more on the ball than the other OEMs.

HTC is on fire.... and going down in flames as Samsung and others leave them in the dust. HTC has a policy of abandoning devices that are more than 6 months old
