Hot on the heels of the worldwide report we told you about last week, showing an impressive increase in the number of iOS devices after the iPhone 4S launch, comes this closer-to-home NPD report that shows the same leap for October/November in the US...

At the first day back at my school after winter break, It seems like everyone got the white iPhone 4 or 4s.

In your opinion... even my girlfriend chose the Nexus over the 4S and she is definitely not a techie. She actually wanted the iPhone and after going to Verizon and comparing she thought the iPhone was too small and looked like a toy.
Everyone is different...

@iam. Not just his opinion, but the figures speak for it. And no one here knows your girlfriend so keep your girlfriend to yourself. No one here cares what phone she prefers :)

first off.. duh. lol. its not like we expected them to lose ground after their first release in nearly 2 years. lots of antsi apple people out there.
this does make me curious though, as previous reports on this site showed that something like 85% of i4s people were upgrades. is the "market share" total devices ever sold, or total devices active? It seems more like its "ever sold". Before you flame.. its just a question.

You didn't expect the iphone to lose ground, you just thought it would flop when the ip4s was launched last year, lol.
Ask your question to yourself on android upgrades, lol. It does not matter. Those who upgraded to the ip4s did not thrown their ip4 away. Their ip4 is either sold to someone else, or given to someone else.

The smartphone market is always growing so 85% doesn't seem very reasonable. And I seriously doubt its ever sold. If that was the case, RIM would have a dramatically larger market percentage than the relatively new Windows Phone OS

I think PA is desperate for articles again since they're posting the most obvious of stories here.

Now where are those fandroids who said that the ip4s is a flop? Lol. Oh look, they're walking around pretending they never said such a thing, hahahahaha. Now let's wait again when the ip5 gets launched. And fandroids will once again flock into ip5 articles saying that it flop. No matter how stupid fandroids look, they never learn :)

People never said the iphone 4s would be a sales flop, even the brain dead who buy every single apple product over and over again knows they will sell well. The augment against them is they are as recent articles have shown on Phonearena riddled with flaws and faults, they are also massively pr mental marketed, over priced, have only one year warranty, exact same phone as last year with an old siri app taken off the market and then sprinkled with apple pr guff to make it a main selling feature and so on. The people who look stupid is those who drool cash over to apple continually despite knowing all this to make themselves feel important, seem cool to their friends and hold their hands high and say I have an iphone and 'I've arrived'!!!

i agree with andro...
i never thought that 4S would not sell... there are a lot of people that are not tech inclined and need a simple phone that doesn't confuse them with a lot of functionality.
and a lot of people that believe in what they don't see - what people like priests and Jobs tell them to believe...
plus, the Jobs death was favourable to sales. great timing for their marketing...

Wow, nice excuses there. If you android fans would just stop for a second and test out an iPhone, you all would know that android would never run as smooth as an iPhone. Even the galaxy s 2 runs sh!tty with its revered processor, fluid UI you say? It's not so "fluid" when you actually compare it against a 4S. All you guys care about is benchmark results that really translate to nothing in terms of real world performance, it still wouldn't run apps as smooth as an A4 powered iPhone 4 would. You guys seem to be angry at the fact that you all have a plastic piece of junk when all your cool buddies are flashing around their iPhones. Within weeks of a release of a long awaited android, you always see people posting up "trade for an iPhone" on craigslist. You know why? Because its just as sh!tty as their last android.
