I doubt this is one of HTCs top tier phones for 2012. I hope not anyhow! Hopefully this is a mid level aimed phone as the specs are distinctly 2011 and the design is almost 2010.
HTC has hit a spot of bother recently due to a little bit of a sales slump and its due to the likes of the phone you see above, they released phone after phone with very little difference all looking the same, hopefully in 2012 this won't be the same of they'll end up the new apple using incremental change in their models

The 4 buttons at the bottom do look very much last year. I wouldn't doubt if this is just an old phone set to get ICS...

bro the software buttons was samsung's doing not google or anybody else

this phone is auto fail when it comes out.
43. milominderbinder (Posts: 6; Member since: 31 Aug 2011)
This is another fail. HTC reinvents the EVO 4G at least once a week. This will be yet another low def small screen.

HTC, please don't recycle designs anymore if if you do, make it like some weird neverbefore seen- people watch you us it-they trip and fall type of device. I love you with all my might but you got to pull something out of the gaps of your teeth.

Well my comment is obsolete now. ROFL. It is the Droid incredible 3 then. lol.

HTC sense makes Android Ice Cream Sandwich look so Froyoish'.
They should either do away with the Sense UI or Make it ICSish
53. mozes316 (Posts: 142; Member since: 30 Sep 2011)
I always wished Sense had an expandable dock bar... but now that it does, it just looks like someone through ADW on top of it...

If this is the change HTC had in mind then they need to just give up now and expect even greater losses in the future.

I love whoever wrote this article say's android 4.1 when it should be 4.0.1. Looks like a really nice phone.

From the pictures that 4G LTE logo looks to be from Verizon.

An observant eye you have there! This phone seems more and more Verizon-bound.

Why is it said that: Although this ICS-powered HTC phone looks very similar to some other models by the company (and that's not really a good thing), i always loved HTC design.
12. random1204 (Posts: 28; Member since: 26 May 2010)
Same as AACarter. It looks like Verizon's 4G logo, and like the Incredible.
So, my guess would be it's a refreshed Incredible LTE.

I don't get why htc has a stable version of ics and sense but won't release the update to phones that are stronger than the one shown like my rezound?
49. asrr62 (Posts: 56; Member since: 14 Sep 2011)
because each phone is different, the rezound came out before ics. there are some good ics sense roms on xda, thats the advantage of htc and their big development scene.
15. mettec (Posts: 13; Member since: 13 Dec 2011)
This to me seems like a Rezound with ICS and Sense 4.0. Since most of the manufactures said that they will not be putting out as many devices this year including HTC. Wonder if Verizon will get a Quad-core device from HTC by 2nd or 3rd quarter.

more junk from HTC. mid ranged compared with everything that's about to launch. lets call it the sensation LTE. here comes the bad battery life train. woot. I hope this is just a left over and not what they have in mind to "fix the company "
17. mettec (Posts: 13; Member since: 13 Dec 2011)
I would say more junk from Verizon and not HTC. Verizon picks what phones they want on their network.
25. VZWuser76 (Posts: 4183; Member since: 04 Mar 2010)
You are correct in that it will be midrange. I'm betting it's the Droid Incredible 3. The reason I believe it's that and not a Rezound 2 is the cpu & ffc are not as high as what's on the Rezound.
Also, Verizon said that all of their smartphones going forward will be LTE capable. So that means that the new models of last years top tier 3G phones will be LTE. We've already seen this with the Droid4. So add this as the DInc3, and all that's left is a DX3 with LTE.
The thing is not every phone can be a top tier device, because not everyone will buy one. Case in point the others on my share plan. While they want a smartphone, they can't afford $199, so they go with one that's been out awhile and was midrange to start with (2 Stratospheres, 1 Inc1, & 1 Inc2). There's a reason carriers still carry dumbphones, either they don't want or can't afford a smartphone.
As far as junk, I've never had any major issues with any of my HTC phones (Inc1 & 2, & Rezound). I've managed to get battery life on par with phones from other OEMs that are similarly specced. The only repair I had to do was an amoled screen for my Inc1 after a nephew got ahold of it and started banging the screen against his forehead. But the glass/digitizer didn't crack.
If you want junk talk about an LG Ally. One of the ones who now has a Stratosphere had that, it got dropped & shattered the digitizer. Happened right at a year old, went to get it repeaired and come to find that they aren't making repair parts for it anymore (unless you count cheap china parts on ebay). So either upgrade or wait for the shop to get in a used one with a good digitizer.

it's probably the Droid Incredible 3 and i'm sure HTC will have an event for the EU version pretty soon like they usually do.

If HTC wants to make a phone that will stand out from the crowd a bit, I propose that they come out the the 'Aria 2'. The trend today is toward bigger and bigger, but the Aria was a great LITTLE phone that packed a lot of power for it's size, and it's trackball was a feature that I wish more Android phones had.
And it fit comfortably in my pocket, too.
50. asrr62 (Posts: 56; Member since: 14 Sep 2011)
it would definitely be nice to have an option of a smaller android phone with good specs. if they made one, would many people buy it?
20. skymitch89 (Posts: 1299; Member since: 05 Nov 2010)
Looks like it could be the Rezound 2 or the Incredible 3. I'm leaning more towards the Incredible 3.
23. EclipseGSX (Posts: 1717; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
I was thinking the same thing that its an incredible, either the 3 or a remix of the 2. The back and the buttons are almost identical
21. amkang (Posts: 6; Member since: 03 Dec 2011)
If you look at the last picture, you can see a "Beats Audio" toggle...
There aren't too many current or upcoming phones with this feature.
This should make it a little easier to narrow down.
I'm leaning towards it being the Rezound 2. Similar back design, the front looks the same including the "hardware buttons", and the Beats Audio as well.
I hope it still sports the 720p screen...
Although, I really don't see how this hardware is any different/better than the current Rezound.
24. VZWuser76 (Posts: 4183; Member since: 04 Mar 2010)
I would say it's the Droid Incredible 3. The main reasons I say this is the 1.2GHz dual core cpu, VGA ffc, & the contoured backside. While the contoured back doesn't necessarily mean Inc series (Rezound has it), the other specs are less than what the Rezound carries.
I know some may say that the Inc2 was a 3G phone when they already had 4G LTE phones out, but remember Verizon's press release saying that smartphones will be LTE going forward, so this makes sense. Look at the Droid4 for example. The Droid series (I mean the Droid with the keyboard, not the DX series or any of the HTC Droids) were 3G phones up to the Droid3. So we'll probably be seeing a Droid X3 with LTE as well.
As far as Beats Audio, I believe most HTC phones (mid & top tier) will have this feature.

Personally i think its the HTC Dinc 3. the phone is WAY overdue for a new model. and the last one upset people for pretty much having the same specs as the Dinc 1 but with a slightly different body. I hope this is the Incredible 3. Those specs sound great for a mid range device.

HTC Sensation (2) which could replace the Sensation XE and XL in the U.K/ Europe market...and the first Sensation in the U.S. market? Probably similar to the Rezound with iBeats since that is similar to the Sensations.
Especially since the "About" shows HTC Sensation 4.0?
41. CivicSi89 (Posts: 348; Member since: 23 Jul 2011)
Actually if you look at that closely. it would say HTC Sense Version 4.0 not Sensation 4.0

This phone looks amazing. I have no idea what you guys are talking about as far as ugly goes. Definitely a little re-used but still great looking. I'm a little disappointed by the specs though. Why 1.2ghz? Why snapdragon? Why capacitive buttons? Not sure I'm liking the aluminum/silver stuff on top where the ear piece is either. 2 colors are enough. And even then straight black is still good with me.
33. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
you want better than snapdragon, no physical buttons, black, non aluminium, and high end?
Order this man an SGS2!!
35. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
he's probably thinking Galaxy Nexus with a nice case.
i hope it comes to Verizon in the white version. 0-0
39. Captain_Doug (Posts: 997; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
The Rezound is just a little to fat for me and I've never liked samsung's build quality. If I can only upgrade once every 2 years, you bet I'm gonna be picky. But yeah top pick right now is the Gnex with verizons extended battery. Just enough curve.

GRR, HTC!!! Google is trying to get rid of the option buttons in favor of onscreen buttons.
36. REYNER (Posts: 187; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
that seems to be like a mid ranged phone. i hate the htc's sense running by ics it looks cheap i still prefer touchwiz ics version how i hope htc would fix that because sense 3.0 and 3.5 looks very good and lots of eye-candy but this one the icon looks worse!
38. untouchable (Posts: 19; Member since: 04 Sep 2010)
A marriage between Incredible and Thunderbolt. HTC seriously needs some design changes. The back looks so much like the Incredible. Come on HTC no wonder you are in a hole and you will be in a even bigger one if you don't step it up in design and quality of the handsets.
40. lubba (Posts: 1313; Member since: 17 Jan 2011)
Finally no more ugly gray color. Wonder if gloss finish? Looks nice. Now considering android because of flash support. Though still love my HD7.

is this it?

Psst...HTC is old news to me. same look, same style...Apple pulls off the look b/c the phone is rated as "sexy" but HTC is getting redundant. i'll pass bro...
46. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
actually HTC makes very sexy devices. if girls don't like iPhones it's HTC devices.
47. gfresh404 (Posts: 12; Member since: 21 Jan 2012)
Any word on battery life? I'm assuming since no mention was made of it, it's either standard 1500 - 1800 mAh or the spec isn't listed
51. asrr62 (Posts: 56; Member since: 14 Sep 2011)
it really does fail to put something new out there, however sense is definitely polished.
54. georgekn3mp (Posts: 2; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
So...is this the phone now known...as the HTC One S? In white black or gun-metal gray.
55. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
not the same thing. the only recently announced handset this bears a resemblance to is one of HTC's Dragon handsets.
