A mystery Google media player making a visit to the FCC, could be a sequel to the Nexus Q orb; you might remember that the social media player was handed out as a freebie during last year's Google I/O, and put up for sale at the Google Play Store. But it quickly became apparent that the device was not quite ready for prime time even though it sold out in less than 24 hours with a $299 price tag...

Kind of surprised that this toy didn't get released at I/O.

Possible answer to googles lack of new android version and any hardware probably means google is stepping up there game. I mean think about it Android is the largest used mobile operating system, so maybe google has decided to use Google I/O for developers like they should and maybe a separate conference will be used to announce hardware and software.
For something as big as google they probably should have two conferences. I mean didnt google I/O last year have two keynotes one on each day? Here they had one keynote showed off whats new for developers and then allowed developers to attend numerous classes and fireside chats where developers can hear about stuff they need to know for there apps.
Summary: Google is huge now and I think maybe google needs two conferences one for developers and one to release new hardware with a new android version.
Just an idea

There are any number of reasons for this toy not making it to I/O2013. The request for confidentiality would argue that the release is not exactly 'imminent'. Maybe holding off for the holidays? (Dunno)
