Motorola's Android 4.0 handsets for China might give us a clue about Motorola DROID Fighter

0. phoneArena 22 May 2012, 19:47 posted on

Three handsets made by Motorola-one each for China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom-could help solve the mystery of the Motorola DROID Fighter for Verizon; the trio will launch in China on June 2nd and the speculation is that the specs will be similar to what the DROID Fighter will feature...

I REALLY hope they aren't going to release another Droid phone that is exactly the same specs with just slightly different design and running 4.0. This isn't the iPhone we are talking about, come on Motorola.

So... Basically these are Razr's with slightly different designs? Ugh... I hope that's not what the Droid Fighter is. Unless the dual-core processor is the OMAP5, and the screen is HD, I will be thoroughly unimpressed.

I would love to see the DROID Fighter with a 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor, 2GB of RAM, a 12 megapixel cam, 4.8" 720p screen with the RAZR Maxx's 3300 mAh battery and ICS. That would be an amazing phone.

Please tell me you don't believe that more megapixels = better pictures...

I know that, but more doesn't hurt

Not trying to knock your statement but having more pixels crammed into a small image sensor does hurt the image. It causes more "noise" in the photos. Until a new larger sensor is introduced I won't be holding my breath for a MP increase. At least that would be the logical thing to do but you know how companies like to market "more is better" lol

I doubt it would be quad-core... I would much rather have the A-15 dual-core OMAP 5 than whatever quad-core is they are thinking about which is quite possibly the Tegra 3. And I doubt they would use the Tegra 3 anyways, considering it's for Verizon and the T3 isn't compatible with LTE. Plus, if the Qualcomm S4 can pretty much tie with the Tegra 3 despite being a "mock" A-15, the actual A-15 OMAP 5 will most likely overpower the T3 as well, while giving pretty much the same amount of battery saved as the quad-core, though you wouldn't really need it with the 3300 mAh battery. I probably won't consider getting a quad-core device until the second-gen quads come out, considering the A-15 duals are about as powerful as the A-9 quads, and save the same amount of power practically.

I know the specs I listed above aren't likely going to be in the DROID Fighter, it's just wishful thinking. BTW I know this is random, but the boxing glove picture bothers me. When I think of the DROID Fighter I think of a Fighter Jet, just saying.

i'm 90% sure it'll use some form of dual-core processor, the RAM MIGHT be higher, Motorola hasn't really given any indication of what directions they're headed with the specs for their new superphones so it's a possibility, same goes for the camera tech but it is improved for sure because the Fighter has a F2.4 aperture camera lens. there will definitely be a larger display because of the on-screen function keys, in fact i think it may have a 4.65" HDSA display just like the Nexus because it'll carry on the tradition of the Super AMOLED displays for the Razr series and they won't be able to make the screen too big and the reason why they won't want to do that is because the Razrs are widely built phones so they can maximize thinness especially with their 3300mAh batteries so even with just a 4.3" display the Razr is pushing being noticeably wide for me and i have big hands. also i'm certain this will have a 3300mAh battery because if not the Razr MAXX would have a significant trade-off there and it could hold strong at the $300 price range but Verizon recently lowered it to $200 so it won't be able to bark up there with the Fighter which means the Fighter will be a clear winner over the MAXX.

I would honestly have to kick Motorola in their balls if they tried to pull another RAZR HD and then RAZR HD MAXX on us XD

Yeah I don't see what's so spectactular about those specs. Just go buy a Razr. Personally I like the one in the center the best.

the only information here that pertains to the Fighter is that these handsets are designed for 4.0 like the Fighter will be. every handset Moto is coming out with should be like this so really the only thing that these handsets divulge is Motorola is making Android handsets in the manner their supposed to and btw these handsets are far from running the most up-to-date software. trust me, i know.

remember the Fighter is likely to run one of two processors, the S4 or the OMAP5.
the Fighter is also certain to have an HD Display & an F2.4 aperture camera lens with an undisclosed MP count.

I really hope they use the OMAP5, I would really like to see it compare to the S4, and see if Qualcomm really did a good job. Though they did do a good job, especially when put next to last years S3, but I want to see a real-world comparison between the A-15 OMAP5 and the "A-15" S4. Hopefully Qualcomm isn't too far behind.

Motorola is working on Photon replacement for Sprint, it will have LTE, World Phone / Int'l capabilities and a bigger than 4.3" HD screen, not much else is known aside from the obvious faster processor (which?).

it should pretty much be a Droid Fighter (Razr MAXX HD).

Too late, the technical promise of Smart phones is dead and buried by the skyrocketing data cost to consumers. The IPhone was a flash in the pan. Rest In Peace.
Back to the days of text and voice... ha... take that MOTO
