Bionic finally released in 2013?
Motoblur will save the world?
They will sue HTC and Samsung for making better phones?
Ridiculous company...Sunday Shag must be proud...

So now Motorola is going to help Apple bring down the OS that made them relevant again??? Talk about a stupid move. This isn't shooting yourself in the foot, this is more like shooting yourself in the nuts! Android is the only thing worthwhile about ANY Motorola device. Make some freakin' phones worth buying and maybe you'll crawl out of the red. Dump Blur or at least make it an app, so the first impressions of your phones aren't laggy when sitting next to an HTC. Oh, and bring them to market ON TIME!

Moto is not going to sue the OS, they are going to make those manufacturers that use their IP pay for the right. Companies like HTC Sammy LG and of course APPLE. While some of the IP that Moto holds may refer to Google and Android OS useage, Android does need multiple manufacturers to help in it's quest to be the number one used OS in cell technology.

How many ways can you slice the Android pie. Microsoft is already getting 5 buck a pop from HTC. They're demanding 15 from Samsung, and Apple I trying to ban the OS altogether. So if Motorola jumps in and demands it's cut, how long before OEMs stop using Android at all? Go after whoever is stealing your IPs, but they need to work something out with Google or else it's iOS and WP7 for everyone.

Motorola is only following Apple's footsteps by suing other Android manufacturers because they aren't capable of releasing new stuff.
Motoblur hasn't been refreshing since the the original Droid unlike other manufacturer's UIs.

I mean Apple being a competitor to Android is enough reason for it to try and sue Android, but for Motorola to pull something this stupid? Android is the only reason they're making money.
Right now Apple is like the snobby rich kid while all Android manufacturers are siblings and Motorola is just sick of their siblings getting more attention so Motorola is trying to be like Apple. Little does Motorola know, all movies with that plot end with them crying back.

Can Google just buy Motorola and rid us of this.... ? Android comes and helps stand the nearly destroyed Motorola and its how they get paid? Anyways moto has more patents than apple and it could help Google with this Android attacks

Nothing in that articles says Moto is going to sue other android manufacturers.
They are just saying that patent portfolios are going to be critical to have in these days of sue happy competition. Also that they have a good portfolio.
It could come into play for UI addons etc though.

I just mentioned this here the other day how Blur was updated to have resizable widgets...then Touch wiz was too....and there was no lawsuit from Moto.
I could see it in a case like that...

The Droid may have put Motorola back in the spotlight and rejuvenated their dead mobile market due to Android OS, but google possibly benefitted more from the Droid, putting their OS in the spotlight, populizing it, and launching the android craze.

I really, really doubt that Jha meant he was going to go after Google or other manufacturers. It wouldn't make any sense whatsoever. I think, considering that they've never sued another Android OEM, that they're referring to nailing anyone to the wall who comes after them because of Android with royalties on the patents they own.

I hope this is being read wrong....this could be an unprecedented move if its right...And make me rethink Moto being my fav Android manufacture...

im pretty sure that the article means that Moto can collect royalties.. from MS and Apple.. not from other Android manufacturers. It would make little sense for Android guys to go after each other which would only help the competition. Moto has a long and large patent library. Im sure they can find quite a few things in there that they can sue MS and Apple over and start making money on iOS like MS and Nokia does.

everyone just calm down.. Moto is a wonderful phone makers. very solid. and durable.. so take the hating somewhere else... they been in the phone business longer than most of you... this article is misleading so.. I demand an apology frorm the writer....Daniel P. show your self.. Long live Motorola...

hope its true Moto is my second favorite android manufacturer, head to head with Samsung, I think all they need to get on top is more dedication to android and a lesser mount of repeated devices and a better commercial campaign, plus a more robust support outside the states and they will be good

Hmm, maybe Motorola is coming up ith its own OS ?
Or maybe they will be going for WP7 or MeeGo ?
Or may i hope that htey will b using bada instead ? : D
anyway, it doesn't make sense for Motorola to try and get royalties from the OS they are using. that will only bring motorola down.
Maybe they are partnering with apple and will start using IOS... that would be interesting.

Go do it Moto! Remember, Android made you relevant again. And if every OEM boycotts Android and Android isn't cool anymore in the eyes of the public, always remember that it will be the end of Moto as well. You're not gonna survive just by suing everyone for royalties but rather by selling phones - you are a phone manufacturer after all. Go get obsessed with your IP's! Like suing everyone for royalties on patent infringement will make you stand still.
Now this whole patent trolling needs to end real quick.

As long every phone company gets a piece of patent dont matter to me. As long APPLE wont get their greedy hands on anything. They will still sue any way like they always do.

I dont think Motorola would be brazen or dumb enough to go after other Android device manufacturers. Cripple the OS that saved your company? No. Microsoft and Apple are developing expensive closed source OS's, that can't compete with AOSP Android on any level. Microsoft is suing Motorola now after bullying HTC and others to pay them for every Android device they sell. Apple has put an injunction on Motorola in Europe to keep them from selling Xoom tablets, and are now looking to possibly do the same thing in the states. I think Motorola's statement is merely them reminding these two scared, sue happy companies that they INVENTED the mobile phone, and without Motorola they wouldnt be manufacturing their crappy OS's period. Apple and Microsoft know that Android is eventually gonna make their limited, featureless, uncustomizable, sh*tty OS's irrelevant and they're scared of the fact, so why not go after the company that helped propel Android to the top?
